We’ve realized we all have to be very careful these days with social media like Facebook and Twitter now being used worldwide.
Demba Ba – going nowhere?
That’s because it’s so very easy to send news around the world, which is not true. So what’s new?
And that happened with Newcastle’s interest in Ajex midfielder-full-back Vernun Anita last weekend, when there was a buzz that the fee and a wages had already been agreed for the player, and that he was due on Tyneside for his medical.
As it turns out none of that was true, and we received a number of emails yesterday, saying that Demba Ba had signed for Turkish club Galatasaray, because apparently Sky Italia had reported the Turkish club had met the asking price of £7M in his release clause.
That could be true, but they then have to agree wages with the player, and there was a story earlier this week that Demba’s wage demands had put them off.
So at least right now, Demba Ba is still a Newcastle player, and according to the Evening Chronicle last night, Newcastle denied that any of yesterday’s news was accurate.
And Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who was a guest pundit on the BBC’s Euro 2012 coverage yesterday, also said he had heard absolutely nothing of a bid for top striker Ba.
We hope it stays that way until September 1st, or even through July 31st, when his release clause runs out, but if Demba Ba does leave, it would seem it’s because of the money.
That would make it easier to lose him, but we still hope he commits his future to Newcastle United, and be part of what looks like an exciting future ahead for Newcastle.
