Demba Ba’s Many “Agents” Are Complicating Things

One difficulty with Demba Ba, and why there have been, and will be more stories of him with leaving Newcastle this summer, is that he seems to have a number of different people saying the represent him.

Demba Ba – many people say they represent him

Maybe they are all trying to get into the mix, so they can paid,  if and when Ba leaves Newcastle for another club.

Ba was linked with Turkish giants Galatasaray yesterday, and it’s difficult to know what news is true and which is the made up news at this time of year – and we know most of it is made up.

Newcastle are well aware that there are a number of people associated with the Senegal striker, who are trying to get him a transfer away from Tyneside, because they are hoping for a payoff,  if such a move ever materializes.

But the news today is that Newcastle are still fairly relaxed about the Demba Ba situation.

Demba is represented by his brother,  and he came out yesterday and said the news that Demba Ba had signed at Galatasaray was simply nonsense.

While Demba Ba has never expressed any desire to leave Newcastle, in fact quite the opposite, Alan Pardew and others at the club, are still uncertain about what his intentions are, and we reported earlier in the week that Newcastle will demand an answer fairly quickly from the 27 year-old, so they can properly plan to replace him in the summer.

But it’s not Demba that’s causing all the stories about him leaving the Magpies so far this summer, it’s his so called agents or representatives who are simply complicatings things, especially for Newcastle.

And don’t expect much transfer business at the moment, since Managing Director Derek LLambias and Secretary Lee Charnley are both out of the country on holiday, and they are both part of the Brains Trust on Tyneside, at least as far as transfers go.

What do you think?

think he’ll go to be honest! Wouldn’t shock me if it was Galatasaray if they stump up the wages! We’re talking about a player who went on strike to leave Hoffenheim, then walked out on West Ham having cost them the best part of 9m, don’t see why he wouldn’t do that to us! He was just as loved at his previous clubs! I’d like him to stay, hes a great player but if we have to lose one from cisse, cabs, benny, krul, tiote or ba, i’d prefer it to be Ba!

i don’t mind loosing demba ba, because he was just a temorary replacement who did wonderers in the first half of theseason, no one expected that, now we can bild on that and by Luuk De Jong, Gameiro, Debouchy, Anita or Wanayama, and one or two CB. 🙂

Obatoyou@ I disagree with you mate. Think that sometimes the order of fixture does make a difference. If we hadnt played the scums early last season, I am doubtfull we would have gotten the momenturm to go on our unbeaten run… hence, an order of winnable games can make a difference next season…Agree ppl?
Another point of discussion, do u all think the order of fixtures makes a diff to our season?
    Please discuss:)

Wouldnt like if he goes.. But then again as a team we may be able to function better if we can get someone who can operate as a semi LW and Striker

I must be the only one who actually wants Ba to leave?? Put it this way, he would be the best “big name” player we could lose….
Yes he did help us massively start of the season but we are now changing to a style of football that doesn’t suit him… Cisse would play down the middle every single time for me… He is the better out and out striker ….

    Sell:
    Smith – free
    Guthrie – free
    Loverman – free
    Best – 4 mill
    Simpson – 4 mill
    Forster – 3 mill
    Ba – 7 mill
Xisco – FREE! Just fcuking take him!
    = 18 mill

    Buy:
    Debuchy – 6.5 mill
    Vertoghan – 10 mill ( I know, I know)
    Diame – free
Luuk de Jong – 9 mill
    Elerjio elia – 5 mill ??

    = 30.5

Net spent = 12.5 mill (room for 3 gems)

Please excuse me for this post, it could be either ignorance on my behalf or wishful thinking on my behalf, but what exactly is Demba Ba’s contract clause, its never been confirmed, all we have had is Harry Redknapps statement which he took back and an Alan Pardew statement which said that there was a clause but the actual clause is not what is being reported, if the clause was as simple as being a bid of £7m activates the clause then based on last season’s performances I’m pretty sure there would now be a boat load of offers, and where did this end of July deadline come from, could it be the press giving themselves more time to fill ther blank spaces

don’t understand why people want vertonghan, seen him lots, he’s error prone, has a tendancy to bomb forward a bit and be caught out, for me alderweireld is the stronger defender at Ajax! If we were to sign any1 from eriedivisie we should look at heerenveens Narsingh and Assaidi! Both players that would enhance our first team squad!
Shame with debuchy he’s price goes up every time france play, think its important not to scout solely on the euros as sometimes average players have great tournaments! Been really impressed by a few players tho, Zhirkov looks immense for russia, as does Dzagoev, Perquis looks decent at the back for poland! Liked the look of Ukraines left back aswell!

newcastle are right to give ba an ultimatume he either wants to play for us or he doesnt its really that simple ,if he does want to stay the come out and say so and kill off any doubt or speculation, if he doesnt want to stay get rid quick and get in a replacement, newcastle united survived without ba before, hes only one player, just like many before. we let enrique take us for a ride last season dont let it happen again, the biggest problem in all of this of course is that vile parasitic element called agent, who despite what players think dont give a toss about ANYONE except themselves and how much they can screw clubs and players for

@joeytoon – to be honest i don’t think dembas the innocent party here! he went on strike to leave hoffenheim, he walked out on west ham costing them the best part of 9m when they offered him a pay rise to stay, don’t see why he wouldn’t jump ship for the first chance of a pay rise!
he’s a good player, be sorry to see him go, but i think if we go 4-3-3 next season he probably won’t be in the starting line up anyway

Agents don’t just get paye for transfers. They have all sorts of clauses for percentage wages, signing fees and charge a player to represent them.

They will also get cuts of when a player doe some advertising/sponsorship etc.

But if they can see a big pay off for a transfer they will encourage it. Players can easily say no though and hire a different agent. So ultimately it is a players choice.

Ba seems like a bit of a traveller in football, had a few clubs and mabaged to orchestrate his own moves away from previous teams so wouldn’t surprise me if he left. Either way a long as it I sorted before or during or season it won’t be too bad.

I think Ba did a good enough job playing alongside Cisse, but he didn’t get as many chances as before, when he was the target man, and when he did, he had a lot of bad luck.

But EVEN IF Ba and Cisse didn’t play well together, with the extra games next year, plus injuries, we will certainly need a striker of Ba’s calibre next season.
OK, maybe other option, but Ba has proved himself.

Maybe there’s a bit of a battle between Ba, who wants to stay, and his agents who see another pay day.

@6 Toon Andy. NUFC won’t get anywhere near the amounts of money you are quoting. While £7m may be Ba’s clause, he/his agent get at least half of that apparently. Plus, £4m for Simpson, Best and £3 for Forster, plus Xisco leaving for good just isn’t going to happen. I’d downgrade your £18m in to about £10m tops.

    @rich_toon fan

    Anelka is a great example.
Represented by his brother, lots of transfers and lots of payments kept n the family.

If you are top quality. Players can make lots more money by regularly changing clubs.

To the folks that say Ba is spitting the dummy out because he is no longer the main man, I think you need to read back through these threads and you will see what he said at the time of NUFC singing Cisse.

Ba on the Cisse signing was something along the lines of,,,,, The fans will love him the club will love him he is a goal scorer, he eats sleeps and dreams goals, “ I am sure when he is asleep he dreams only of scoring goals” Now to me that indicates that Ba see’s himself not just as a goal scorer otherwise he would have paralleled Cisse and himself in those descriptions, so I think he sees himself as a more rounded player.

Now the fact that BA knew this of Cisse and yet appeared to be more than a little excited over his arrival I think indicates that Ba knew he was not going to be the main goal scorer but was going to be more of an assist man.

I personally think Ba is annoyed not with the rise of the Cisse star or that the crowd no longer chant Ba’s name but just simply he is annoyed at himself for missing the chances he gets.

As for his “not celebrating the goals with Cisse in joint prayer” that could simply be Ba feeling he should not be taking adoration for something he has not done.

If you watch the reaction of a goal scorer 99.9% of the time they run a away from their team mates so they can get the adoration of the fans, some running to the crowds and turning their back to them so they can point to their names.

I think Ba could very well be stepping back just to allow Cisse the glory on his own.

I think we would all be helped if Ba would come out and say something about wanting to stay here in the immediate future. That jersey looks a bit odd – are those thorns on it ? 🙂
As a side note, gotta say I was so pleased with the Irish fans last night. A great advert for this little country. Respect boys!

I’m really not a fan of this fashion for having a large number of representatives and so on. We’ve seen from Carlos Tevez over the years, just how complicated agents can make things. I must admit, I’m not too worried about the Ba situation. If he goes, he goes. That’s football. Providing we have time to bring in a replacement before the season begins, I won’t be too concerned. If he does stay, I do think we’ll need quality back up for the time Cisse and Ba are at the ACON.
