Demba Ba Not Signing For Galatasaray

It seems that Turkish Champions Galatasaray are no longer interested in signing top Newcastle striker Demba Ba.

Demba Ba – will not be joining Galatasaray

That will be good news for Newcastle fans, and only 45 days to go until Demba’s release clause ends, at the end of July.

There was news earlier in the week that Galatasaray had agreed to the £7M release clause, and if that was true, it wouldn’t have been much of a surprise.

But then the news was that Ba’s wage demands were too high, and the Turkish club were cooling on the potential signing.

There is new news that their President Ünal Aysal has confirmed the club is no longer interested in Ba.

This is what Ünal  said:

“Ba’s name was suggested to us by a committee member and we opened negotiations after approval from manager Fatih Terim.”

“However, negotiations have stopped. We already have Johan Elmander and have two other strikers.”

“The future of Milan Baros is uncertain and if he leaves, we will replace him with a bigger name. Demba Ba is not that striker.”

Newcastle pulled out of any potential deal for FC Twente center-back Douglas today, because he had too many people representing him, and the potential deal  was getting too complex, and his agents’ demands were getting out of hand for Newcastle.

And there could be a similar thing going on with Demba Ba, who has many agents said to speak for him, although his younger brother Hamady is thought to be one of his agents, and presumably the most important.

But it could be that other clubs will become disinterested in Demba Ba, because of the number of agents he seems to have, and the potential complexity of the deal.

We hope so.

    From last post:

Before drawing conclusions, this is the Star lads so not exactly the most fact related media item. Like Rich says I can see why he’d go to Spurs but on the other hand I think why? Believe we would be a better option for him to develop his career and become a top player as he will get more 1st team chances as Spurs have plenty of cover in the LB area. Tsunki as well do not doubt this lads ability as he is a talented individual who Fergie wants to keep but with Fryers wants more opportunities to showcase his talents. Though to be honest if we sign Debuchy then Ezekiel’s chances will still be restricted as it’s unlikely he’ll start ahead of Santon however he’d be a possibility for CB as well as he’s a big, physical lad with the versatility to play there just as well.

On Demba, think it seems more likely he’ll stay then go in all honesty!

If we have pulled out of the race for Douglas then maybe, just maybe, we have moved forward in a deal with another target

this is the best news ever!!! I truely love Demba Ba at this club. He is one hell of a striker, tremendous qualities, we have not had 2 strikers like Demba Ba+Cisse in a while. Now, this is the start of something special….. only way to add on is to keep the key pieces….

This summer, we have to add depth to our squad. Obviously the main reason is due to Europa League. More games, more fatigue. I want two new center backs, a right back and left back…. and two strikers…… a wonderkid, and another….

I did,nt release that this release clause in Ba,s contract expires after a certain date? (end July )

Where did you get that Info from Ed?

Galatasaray are quoted on another post that Ba does not have a big enough name for them.
Not too sure what that means but MONEY probably has something to do with the complication of any proposed move. More so than the players name.

If the release clause ends on 31 July then that will be the end of this BA saga, and it is keeping a lot of people busy guessing exactly what is going on as far as regards BA.

@11: I don,t use Twitter. What did Debuchy say though?

I still think we may have a chance of getting him, even inspite of other clubs sniffing around ! As long as France stay in the EK, his price will be on the increase!

Unfortunately by the time of the EK Final, he may be out of our Price-Range!

The total cost to sign Ba on a 3 year deal would be c£20M and he is uninsurable. If his knee goes it’s £20M down the drain.

I can’t see any club other than the mega rich ones like Citeh or PSG taking that gamble – and I don’t think even they will.

My bet is Ba will be staying at NUFC – for the long term.

If he can get more money elsewhere he’ll go, I’m not saying that to be unkind it’s the way it is. Plenty of clubs will be in for him.

I think Galatasary are not a big enough name for Ba not the other way around. PSG could happen. I’m just hoping there are enough complications such as medicals and agents that a deal never gets done in time and he stays.

Grafton83 – you are wrong, its not about Ba getting more money. If it was just that a ton of clubs would be battling it out now for a fee of just £7M.

You and many other fans + Ed just dont seem to get that Ba in uninsurable. If a club pays £7M + a £2/3M signing on fee + agents fee + a 3 year deal at £60K-£80K a week thats a £20M gamble that could be lost if Ba’s knee goes.

Thats why my bet is he’ll stay – clubs won’t take that gamble and thats why he they arent queueing up to sign him.

Grafton83 !! Galatasaray isnt a big name for Demba Ba ?? you are talking about a player who 4 years ago was playing for a club called mouscron and only made a name for himself cos he scored 16 goals in the premiership last season.Galatasaray has a 400 year history, won european trophies and the powerhouse of its country with a massive budget.Galatasaray can easily bring a much much bigger name then Demba Ba.I have a lot of respect for Newcastle so when you are talking about other clubs show some respect too.You say PSG could happen which shows your knowledge about football.a club which was founded in 1970 is a bigger name then Galatasaray ?? lol

Bills-son are you saying he’s not insured at our club then, other than getting him on a free didnt we take an almost identical risk with his contract or does it have performance/fitness clauses in there.

However we’ve done it I’m sure another club could do it the same way. His stock has certainly gone up so for £7m I’m pretty sure he’ll get snapped up by someone.

I didn’t say PSG is a bigger club than Galatasaray. I just said that was a move that could happen which i based on how much money they have and the fact that he previously expressed an interest in going there. I would say they’re quite similar in terms of thier current status in European football.

As much as you can argue that your team is a powerhouse in Turkey and gets European football so do Celtic in Scotland. It was insulting for your chairman to say the club was too big for him, he will have better offers in my opinion.

yes grafton, our chairman never said he wasn’t good enough for the club he said “we are looking for a big name and established world star and demba ba isnt that name”.Galatasaray doesn’t just get european football they challenge big clubs and have won european trophies in the past.and the turkish league is much more entertaining then you think and the standards have gone really high in the past years.watch out for us in the CL this year.we will be back with a bang.I wouldnt mind Demba Ba at Gala but he will leave in january for AFC and we already have Eboue who will leave so its not really ideal.good luck to Newcastle, they seem to be going back to their good days.

Is this the same Turkish league whose teams are getting kicked out of European competition next season for being financial basket-cases?

Nonetheless, with Ba being a practising Muslim the Galatasaray link is a plausible one. However, to defend both sides it should be pointed out that Paris is Ba’s home-town and PSG are loaded with money, so that’s a more-likely destination if he were to go anywhere. I’m not sure he’d be happy being a bench-warmer in Paris, though!

yeah besiktas got banned because they have massive debt and bursaspor appealed to cas and got the decision over turned, fenerbahce got away with murder, they manipulted and fixed matches for 2010-2011 and bought themselves the league title and uefa didnt ban them this season. but gala is not cash strapped they have a lot of dough to spend
