It seems that Turkish Champions Galatasaray are no longer interested in signing top Newcastle striker Demba Ba.
Demba Ba – will not be joining Galatasaray
That will be good news for Newcastle fans, and only 45 days to go until Demba’s release clause ends, at the end of July.
There was news earlier in the week that Galatasaray had agreed to the £7M release clause, and if that was true, it wouldn’t have been much of a surprise.
But then the news was that Ba’s wage demands were too high, and the Turkish club were cooling on the potential signing.
There is new news that their President Ünal Aysal has confirmed the club is no longer interested in Ba.
This is what Ünal said:
“Ba’s name was suggested to us by a committee member and we opened negotiations after approval from manager Fatih Terim.”
“However, negotiations have stopped. We already have Johan Elmander and have two other strikers.”
“The future of Milan Baros is uncertain and if he leaves, we will replace him with a bigger name. Demba Ba is not that striker.”
Newcastle pulled out of any potential deal for FC Twente center-back Douglas today, because he had too many people representing him, and the potential deal was getting too complex, and his agents’ demands were getting out of hand for Newcastle.
And there could be a similar thing going on with Demba Ba, who has many agents said to speak for him, although his younger brother Hamady is thought to be one of his agents, and presumably the most important.
But it could be that other clubs will become disinterested in Demba Ba, because of the number of agents he seems to have, and the potential complexity of the deal.
We hope so.
