Lille Confirm £4M Bid For Debuchy – Twente Want £15M For Striker

The Lille manager Rudy Garcia has confirmed that Newcastle faxed in an offer of £4M for the right-back star Mathieu Debuchy, and says the club have no plans to replace the player – yet.

Mathieu Debuchy – played so well against England

The bid seems to have been made last Friday, but other clubs such as Inter-Milan and Chelsea are interested, and rumors that AC Milan and Bayern Munich may also have become keen on the player, and that will make it harder for Newcastle to get their man.

The bid made by Newcastle is considered far too low, but exactly what Lille want for their player is now known – other than as much as they can get.

And that figure could be increasing a lot, if it turns into an auction for Debuchy,  and if that happens Newcastle will not be signing Debuchy.

This is what Garcia told the French web-site 20 Minutes:

“I believe Newcastle have faxed an offer of £4M – but they have the wrong player!”   “He is torn between staying with us and playing in the Champions League in our new stadium or going elsewhere.”

“If he does go and it is a sporting progression, then we will be happy to see him evolve – but we have not planned to replace him.”

Garcia believes that Debuchy could move on this summer, after playing for Lille since 2004, and putting in 288 appearances and scoring 17 goals for the only club he has ever played for.

That was so similar to Yohan Cabaye’s history, before he signed for Newcastle last June, and we hope Yohan’s big pal will be arriving on Tyneside this summer.

Luuk de Jong – worth £15M?

And there are reports that Newcastle have not bid £8M for Luuk de Jong, but on the latest Sky Sports News, they are reporting that FC Twente want £15M for their 21 year-old striker.

There’s no way Newcastle will pay that much for the Dutch international.

No way.

£15m is probably too much for us to pay but you can understand why they’re asking so much right now, but towards the end of the window they’ll have to reduce their price coz he’s only got one year on his contract, n Ashley knows they will

They probably think they deserve payback for Tiote. Except it’s NUFC and PL games that maketh the player. He aint worth that yet so they better think about sell-on clauses, if Llambias does them that is.

Sounds like the Lille are wanting to start the auction, so that one probably isnt going to happen for as. As for De Jong, he is a good player, but unproven outside of his homeland, so worth far less than £15M quoted. I think £8M is a bloody good offer for him, if they wont accept, then we need to move on to the next target.

Lille is a whole club of arrogant bluff-monkeys. They will climb down or end up with a free on their hands. They’re just spreading the word, probably throwing flyers out the window in london and manchester.

My brother’s mother (I don’t know her personally, but I am said she’s a reliable source) knows a Franco-Italian interpreter who was charged with translating the aforementioned flyers to Italian. From what she knows, he is also said to write with strong Milanese accent.

We bid £8million, they say they want £15million. Neither side will get their way with those figures so meeting somewhere around the middle at £11-12million seems a good compromise?

I would bat their reply back with a DVD of Cisse attached to it tbh!

We got him for £10million and although De Jong is younger he still definitely aint worth more than £12million.

Nufc being stupid in regarding Debuchy, Twente being stupid with the figures for De Jong. If De Jong had of been playing in the Euros and bagged himself 4-5 goals then fair enough but the kid didn’t get anywhere near a start never mind scoring goals. Madness!!!!!!

    On a more serious note:

Remember the ‘Jan V. saga’? It started with 7-8M, which is still a decent price for top defender in the last year of his contract, but now Spurs can’t agree the fee as Ajax wants 12M… 12M!!! Look at Skrtel and Vidic, they were not cheap, but 12M?

Twente said earlier Luuk will be going for no less than 12,5M, let’s wait how far they will go with their valuation.

They’ll never get £15m for him and I suspect they know that. It’s probably a way of engineering more money than they might otherwise get, whilst at the same time putting off any time wasters. I reckon we shouldn’t go higher than £11m.

I can see the merit in bidding low for Dubuchy, as he has expressed a desire to join the Toon, but now it’s been rejected we should get in quick with another bid. The guy’s worthy closer to £7m. Whether or not we’re prepared to spend a possible £15-20m on two players remains to be seen.

Too right, but I can see what MA and co. were thinking. The lad probably wants too come to the toon so if we put in a low offer, he’ll hand in a transfer request and Lille will be forced to sell him. Unfortunately, it hasn’t seemed to have worked.

I would say we should double the bid to £8 mil. That’s a fair price. That’s pretty much 10 million Euros.

@TDS He’s a twat for publishing it. That’s bad of him. That’s like something floppychops would do, doesn’t matter how low the bid was.

As for De Jong, not going to say he’ll be the next Afonso Alves but why we’d be paying anything over £8m for a striker with 1 year left on his contract playing in the Eredivisie is beyond me. It’s unjustifiable to pay any more, regardless of his age. He has one year left on his contract for crying out loud.

Yeah, I appreciate that, and you always make the opening bid a silly one. I just think it’s beyond dumb to criticise Garcia! I laughed a bit when I read we’d bid £4m!

The problem with him coming out and saying it is that it may make other clubs step up interest, now they’ve realised we tried to steal a march on everyone.

Boooooooored with the same names we’re not going to sign…

In the mean time, I visited william hill’s website and checked the odds for getting a trophy next season.

They give us about 1% chance of winning EPL, 5% of winning Europa League, 6% of winning FA Cup and 7% of winning League Cup.

    Who’s excited?

i say put in a ?7mill bid for Debuchy and a ?10,5mill for De Jong. Debuchy is an established very good player who really wants to come, so worth it. De Jong would be a risk. If he can’t live up to the expectations in the PL then it’s a massive loss, but if he can develop and play even better than in the past 2 seasons, then we’ll be able to ask for a hell of a lot of money for him

Holliet is available on a free why would you pay that kind of money 4 de jong, any way we a now playing 4-3-3 and we have marveux to play left side of top 3 if BA leaves I wouldn’t rush out and buy for the sake of it Olson the RB for Sweden looks class on the other hand we need a left footed LB or CB more so than a RB, id still go for Bassong for 2mill or 5 mill for Neil Taylor of swans…

We need to remember that while the likes of spurs or liverpool might happily go to 12m for de jong, its Mikes wallet we are talking about here. And the remit for carr is to find breakthrough talent that he feels will come good in the English game. Then he sends Llambias to do the bid work. Their appraisal will be borderline International hopeful playing in a much less accomplished league with one year on his contract. And anyone foolish enough to gazump us runs the risk of looking like liverpool did when they bought carroll and henderson. This lad could be another Chamakh for all we know.

MA & crew play a pretty canny game at negotiating –
I’ll leave it in their capable hands.

They may not ALWAYS get it right, but they do, more often than not, and if the likes of Chelski and PSG pick up on him, we just aren’t going to compete.

That’s the way it is – and I’m not complaining – our business model has served us well over the last couple of years, so let’s keep going with it.

Bid for Debuchy was a bit low considering he has 3 years on his contract.
Bid for De Jong seems to be about right – maybe we will increase it a little.

I don’t see it dragging on too long though – we will do a deal fairly quickly or look to other targets.
