Newcastle Reported Close On Luuk De Jong Deal

We just hope the Daily Mail is right, when they are reporting today that Newcastle are close to sealing a deal for 21 year-old Dutch International striker Luuk de Jong.

Luuk de Jong – Newcastle said to be close to a deal

That’s the news this morning and Newcastle’s initial bid of £8M for the youngster was rejected by his club FC Twente, but the news this morning is that Newcastle are closing in in on a deal of around £9.5M for the talented 21 year-old player.

Sky Sports had reported yesterday that FC Twente wanted as much as £15M for de Jong, but it seems a decent deal for both parties if an agreement can be reached for just under £10M, and that’s the highest fee paid by Newcastle for a while, if they can do the deal and this news is true.

Newcastle paid out between £8M and £9M for Papiss Cisse in January, and he’s turned out to be a terrific buy for Newcastle, scored 13 great goals for Newcastle in 14 appearances earlier this year, and is worth at least double his transfer fee now.

And news that Graham Carr was at the France vs Sweden game last night, when Ben Arfa started and lasted 59 minutes and Yohan Cabaye was rested, but France were beaten 2-0 and Newcastle target Mathieu Debuchy did not have a good second half.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the best goal of the tournament so far, early in the second half, when he brilliantly rifled the ball into the net at speed, from a cross from the right – how did he do that?

And Sunderland’s Seb  Larsson scored their second in stoppage time, to allow Sweden to put in a great performance for their many fans last night, and give France their first defeat in 23 games, and they now have to meet Spain in the quarter finals.

Christian Wilhelmsson was introduced at half time, and he proved to be the catalyst for Sweden’s attacking ambitions down the left wing, and gave the Newcastle transfer target a bit of a turning over in that second half.

But maybe that’s for the good, and Newcastle no doubt will press on, and try to get Debuchy, as well as Luuk de Jong at Newcastle – just as soon as possible.

Howay The Lads!!

Would be nice to sign him, but I think it would be to replace Ba.

I think the priority is a centre back and a full back, namely debuchy.

We have 3 priority positions I think.

Centre back, full back and striker.

After that we have cover in other areas but would be nice to get a winger and a cm in as well.

Why do people on twitter always think that as soon as our players are linked with clubs they are already sold. Fcuk me papers spout any sh1t to get u to buy them. Name a player that the toon have sold in the last year or two that has been a bad deal……. Carroll, Nolan,Barton, bassong the list goes on. Only Enrique I would of kept but we had no choice

At least this bid would have a more realistic chance of acceptance!! Bidding low is fine – as long as it is realistic in relation to the players obvious worth!!

I’m tired of people saying De Jong is a replacement for Ba, no he is not! If he is a replacement for anyone it is for Best and Loverman, an upgrade if you like! The club are not stupid, they know this season is going to be tough, and we need quality and depth, something that this guy gives both of, replacing him with Ba would just be a step back which I wouldn’t expect from NUFC,

Shame Ibrahimovitch is such an obnoxious git! Soooo glad his odious (good word?) gloating at Hart was premature. Just not done.

Would love this to come off!

Been banging on about him for ages! Hope we still get a CB though and a CM,

We need cover in CM badly! More games this season and if Tiote or Cabaye get a knock, theres no Guthrie anymore!

    We Need in prioity Order:

    New CB
    New CM
    New FB
    New Striker

I hope we go back in for Corgnet!!!!

Toonaholic, spot on m8, with up to a possible 60 games next season if we play with 2 up front on a rotation basis 3 strikers would have to play 40 games each, we need at least 3 top strikers, I totally agree with you, whether we keep Ba and get De Jong I’m not to sure about, The Mail reporting our second bid of £9.5m has been made is nonsense, we haven’t made a 1st bid yet, its all paper talk.

One thing you are going to get from Newcastle is money up front. I can’t imagine there are many teams in Europe that can do that.

We wont get him – We don’t advertise who we are after anymore. We will see it signed up on the Website like Marveux etx did last season … Also we do pay up front not on the Drip So We are a Force to be reconed With These days aswell !!! Debuchy Has Told Cabaye He wants to Join Newcastle So I think That Will Be a Good Signing !!!

A young striker to challenge Ba/Cisse sounds like a good idea to me. I still think Best/Ranger could probably do this job at no cost to us but if we bring in a new striker these two clearly wont have a future at the club.

I don’t want to see Demba struggling during Ramadan again this year, I think it’s going to knock his confidence too much. If we did bring De Jong in along with Marveaux being fit we could probably afford to rest Demba for Ramadan..

12M is alot however, I’m not sure if the money could be spent better elsewhere… Providing we bring a CB in and sort out the RB/Simpson situation then fine, but if not spending 12M on a striker is a waste.

why do people keep on about de jong being a replacement the club have already said they will sign a striker regardless of whether ba stays or goes,
    THE DAILY MAIL REPORTS !!!!!!
I READ IN THE BEANO THAT WE ARE SIGNING MESSI AND RONALDO
I WOULD GIVE A LOT MORE CREDIBILITY TO THE BEANO
