Rudi Garcia Not Surpised By Debuchy’s Good Form

Rudi Garcia, the Lille manager has no doubts that Matthieu Debuchy is a very good player, and he thinks that Debuchy is the best French right-back at the moment.

Debuchy fails to stop Larsson’s second goal for Sweden last night

The only reason that Debuchy is seeing some playing time at the Euro 2012 Championships this summer, is that France’s number one choice right back, Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna,  fractured the fibula in his right leg in early May.

That happened in Arsenal’s 3-3 draw at the Emirates Stadium on May 5th with Norwich City, and it will take Bacary at least three months to recover from the injury.

But it seems Rudi Garcia already thinks Debuchy should be France’s first choice right-back on merit,  as he had this to say about his player yesterday:

“No, Debuchy’s impressive performances haven’t surprised me, as he plays with France as he does with us, he plays high and attacks but defensively is also very rigorous and he exudes confidence.”

“Without insulting Anthony Reveillere and Bacary Sagna, he is trying to show he should always be right-back for France.”

Debuchy has been in good form for France in Euro 2012, but the 26 year-old took a bit of a roasting last night in the final 45 minutes,  when the speedy Christian Wilhelmson was introduced at the start of the second half,  in Sweden’s excellent 2-0 win over France.

Maybe that will help him still sign for Newcastle, in spite of reported interest from the two Milan clubs, PSG and Chelsea.

That’s what we are hoping.

He has been caught out defensively in all 3 games, especially last night.

Doesn’t get much help from the winger though.

Is it only me, or you too have the feeling Danny Simpson would have cleared it off the line?

    So it’s only me.

Rudy can gfu. We should try to buy left footed LB and to move Santon on the right. Debuchy is class but also is a long shot. After Cabaye’s case Lille will never leave us to take second their player for peanuts… thats for sure.

Seems to me he is the exact opposite of Danny Simpson – great at attacking but not so clever at defending. Surely we want someone half way between i.e. someone who can defend but also can go forward.

If any of you guys actually believe that we put a bid of only 4 million for Debuchy and that Twente would reject an £8 million bid for De Jong then your fcuking mad!!

There is no way we would follow a lad for several years, wait until oter clubs are alerted and go in with a bid of 4 million. Not only would that he an insult to Lille but an embarrassment to us.

Also FC Twente may very well value De Jong at 8 million but as someonesaid earlier we are perhaps the only club in Europe that pays cash up front. I don’t get this whole ‘teams will know that nufc will be looking for a bargain’ bull crap. Teams will no that nufc are no pushovers in the transfer Market and that you reject our bids at your own peril. Look at Frieburg who lost out on millions. Look Alar Douglas who has now lost a great opportunity. If Twente have rejected and 8 million up front deal is be astonished. They will not have and I reckon they may have rejected a 6 million bid.

These stories havent even begun yet!!!

I agree with the logic beattie but I think we did put in a stupid low bid for debuchy, if we didnt rudi garcia probly wouldn’t gave come out laughing saying ha 4m they must have sent an offer for the wrong player. I believe de jong will get tied up no probs but not so confident on debuchy, after getting cabaye so cheap lille will want as much as possible from us
