Newcastle Linked Again With Swedish Scoring Sensation

We reported in early March that Newcastle were keeping tabs on young Swedish striker John Guidetti’s situation at Manchester City, and the player had been loaned out to Feyenoord for this season. Now there is an awful lot of interest in John’s current situation at the Premier League Champions.

John Guidetti – Man City’s 20 year-old scoring sensation

Guidetti signed on for Mancsheter City in April 2008, at the age of fifteen, and other clubs including Inter-Milan, Sampdoria, Lazio and Roma had been interested in the player.

Guidetti tuned 20 in April, and he is keen to play first team football, and doesn’t want to stay at Manchester City,  if he cannot play games for the first team.

And it would appear there’s not much chance of that next season,  with the strikers the Premier League Champions already have, and could bring in this summer.

Last season in Holland he scored 20 goals in 23 games for the Dutch club with 8 assist and had a great season.

It could well be that Guidetti will be allowed to spend a second season out on loan, and maybe Newcastle would be interested in doing a loan deal for the 20 year-old.

Graham Carr and his scouting team have been keeping tabs on the player, but Newcastle have had very little success with loan deals during the Mike Ashley era, and they are trying to get a fourth striker on a permanent basis, to join Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba and Shola Ameobi.

But if Demba Ba leaves via his release clause in his contract, we suppose Guidetti on loan could be a possible solution for next season.

Feyenoord are keen to get the player back in Holland for a second successive season next term, and Turkish club Fenerbahce have already contacted the player’s agent about a possible loan deal.

Guidetti had this to say yesterday:

“If I can’t play at Manchester City then I’ll have to play somewhere else. I want the chance. I don’t want to be a reserve at City, I can’t be. I have to be honest with people, I’m not going to lie.”

And back in March he had said much the same thing, when we first reported on Newcastle’s interest in the player:

“The question is very simple.”  “I want to play and if in Manchester they see me as the fourth or fifth choice, then I would rather go to a club where I can play.”

Newcastle have already lodged a bid of £8M for Dutch International striker Luuk de Jong, and we think Newcastle will only become interested in Guidetti on loan, only if Demba Ba ends up leaving Newcastle in the summer.

Otherwise Newcastle could hardly guarantee the young Swede enough playing time for a loan deal to be worthwhile.

What do you think?

From last post. I think they are willing to sell him (Anita) to us, as the player wants tojoin NUFC. I think 5M Pounds will make it happen. As for De Jong i believe we are strongy interested and if we are, board make it happen, they won’t overspend but we will have that striker for a bit short of 10M Pounds. And Debouchy will not miss the chance to join Cabaye and we will not pay more that 6.5 for him – it’s a fair price. Demba will probalby leave as also Best, Ranger and Loverkrands, so another striker is a must. What do you think of gameiro we had 10M pounds accepted (we bid that much very very very rarely) for him last year, so if we can get him for 6M, why not? I know his wages are high, but what’s not a problem i guess, would you do: take a pay cut a bit and play in a best football leage in the world, get bigger international recognision, play in fron of 50K supporters, play in European competition , or stay at PSG there the manager don’t want you, sit on the bench, ruin your carrier and end your international abitions? if i can see it, if think he can as well. He isn’t that stupid, right? Also we were linked with that guidetti kid, very impresive scoring record, i’m wondering what the price will do for city? And that spainiards from Real reserves, Morata.. he is not bad at all as well, so if we can take two of the striekrs what will they would be for you? I would take De Jong and Giudetti probably.

Would be good if we could do a loan with option to buy at the end.

If he wants guaranteed first team football he should probably not come here.

This lad is going to be some player, would love him to join us but I dont reckon he would play as much as he would like at Newcastle. He would still be 3rd or 4th choice striker. But he might get more time as we will have more games next season.

You seriously think Ashley would splash that much cash?
I reckon that he most we can get from him to spend is 20m + sales.
No way in hell that we’ll sign multiple players for £10m each.

Re the Ba front, I am right in saying that if Pardew successfully stalls any move Ba plans on making til the end of the month, then we can rip clubs off for him?

Agree with ToonBoy – ANY loans deals should only ever be done where we have an option to buy at the end already built in to the deal.

If we fail to do this then we are essentially developing another clubs young players at the expense of developing our own up and coming future first team squad.

Long – term this makes no sense whatsoever and short term whats to say this young swede will be more effective next season than say giving Vucic more playing time?

Now if we loaned him and he did well, we then activate the clause and benefit from the work we’ve put into him.

We also need to have the fee built in from the off as you can shoot yourselves in the foot if you don’t. Just look at Sigurdsson at Swansea, they showcase an unknown player from a German club and he is such a great fit in their team they send his value rocketing and now they can’t afford him? Madness of a Ba release clause nature…

Guidetti could be a cheap replacement for Best.. He will score goals hes a cracking young player.. About £3million will get him.. 9.5million for De jong and 3million for Guidetti £12.5million on two crackin strikers meaning we’ll have 4 class ones and then supersub Shola thats all we need..

    De Jong – 9.5mil
    Guidetti – 3mil
    Debuchy – 6.5mil
    Barnetta – Free
    Total – £19mil

    Simpson – 3mil
    Best – 2mil
    Ranger – 1mil
    Forster – 2mil
    Smiths wages – £1mil
    Total – £9mil

Total spend is £10million leaving plenty of room to buy a good defender and a good centre midfielder and what a cracking team we’ll have

Ben arfa are u for real?do u really expect us to spend 20 mil plus players sales?we will be lucky if we spend 10 mil plus players sales!what people thoughts on our transfer budget?bearing in mind last summer we spend hardly any net fees and then 8 mil for cisse in jan.I don’t see anything 2 suggest ashley 2 start spending that sort of money when last summer we had a big improvement using the new ashley blueprint.just wondering what people thoughts are??

A hard working 20 year old backup striker is exactly what we need! And Newcastle is the perfect fit for him, he wants to stay in the EPL and want to play more games than he would at city!

You really think 3 mil will tie this tie this deal up? I can see city wanting quite a bit for this lad he had a great season last season and can grow strength to strength. The loan with option to buy seems the more probable outcome as I don’t think we will pay thr straight fee city want this summer as we have to add a bit more depth in certain areas. Would love him to sign as I think he could be a star

English Yeoman – Sigurdsson unknown? Seriously? He came through the ranks at Reading and was superb for them, before they had to sell him to hoffenheim, because they made an offer that was too good to turn down.

Giudetti is going to cost a fortune, if City are prepared to part with him on a permanent basis. I’d be surprised and impressed if we managed to sign him.

I’d still like to see us take a pop at signing Sigurdson! Swansea had a offer of 6.8mil accepted but tranfer is stalling due to Liverpool interest! we should make a cheaky bid! not a bad price for a talented player his age! would be great in a midfield 3 with Tiote and Cabaye!

    my prefered buys!
    Sigurdson 6.8mil
    De Jong 9.5 mil
    Clyne 3 mil settlement
    Barnetta Free
Guidetti (loan with potential buy out fee agreed after a season)

2-3 young potentials from lower leages for back ups.

Debuchy might be a top draw player but if he is going to cost a high fee we might be better going for CLyne i feel. definate huge potential player who is likely to break into the england 1st squad in the 2-3 years having a huge sell on fee potential. Debuchy will cost more and effectively will be worthless at end of his contract in comparison. preferably buy both! but i see Clyne fitting toons transfer philospohy better!

@17 – Just used him as an example of a player who costs more at the end of a loan than what they’d have got him for if they had agreed a price at the beginning i.e. before they showed how well he fits into tboth their team and the EPL. I agree he’s not entirely unknown but also not what you (would have) called a big name signing – his stock certainly rose during his last impressive season.

My general point is this, say we get the Swede in on loan and he is magic next season. AP decides he wants him on a permanent basis and goes to Citeh to buy him. Would we rather…

    (a) get told that Citeh rate him even higher than ever and that they always wanted him back. They’ll say “he’ll be a valuable player in their 1st team squad in the coming season and that we’ll have to schlepp oot circa £10m for his signature”… (all in an arabian accent of course)

    (b) tell them “Thanks for the loan friendly Arabs, here’s your £3m, as we’re keeping the Swede cos he’s mint! Toodle-pip”
