Newcastle Negotiating Deal For Center-Back

Curtis Good, the 19 year-old Melbourne Heart center-back could still be interesting Newcastle, after he spent a couple of weeks in a trial at Newcastle last April.

Curtis Good – could end up on Tyneside – soon
Don’t like that strip though

At that time Curtis returned to Australia after his trial,  and we thought Newcastle must have lost interest in the player, but that may be a wrong conclusion, with reports in Australia that Newcastle are still interested in the 6’2″ tall youngster.

The Herald Sun in Melbourne reported yesterday that Newcastle asked Good’s club what the asking price for him was, and the expectations are that Newcastle will lodge a bid for the 19 year-old.

And it’s though that a bid for around $600K would seal the deal.

Melbourne Heart football manager John Didulica has this to say yesterday:

“We are planning for Curtis to stay with the club, but if a suitable offer comes we won’t stand in his way.”   “We haven’t received anything for a few weeks, but they indicated they were still considering him as an option.”

“They’ve left the door open to put a proposal forward for us to consider, but it’s always difficult at big clubs because they look to conclude the big signings first – and Euro 2012 has probably held the process up a bit also.”

Good’s representative, Zeljko Susa hoped a deal would be struck (that’s a surprise):

“It would be a fantastic opportunity for Curtis.” “Discussions are ongoing and we are hopeful of a positive outcome.”

So we shouldn’t be too surprised if Curtis Good is on his way to Newcastle after all, and  he only joined Heart in February of last year, but was soon the first choice center-back, and appeared in 25 games for the club last season.

Maybe he will become the next Australian to make a name of himself in the Premier League – hope so.

What do you think?

If it happens – it happens. When he’s on the steps of SJP, with his stripey shirt on, it will be true.

Same applies to every other player we are linked too!!

Seems like a gamble but when I think about it, the lad had a trial and we’re still interested, he’s costing peanuts, he’s 19 and we all love a fairytale! In Carr we trust.

I’m sure this was the kid Pardew was purring about when he was on BBC radio Newcastle on the phone in at the end of the season.

Although he didn’t name him he was waxing lyrical about a young defender on trial.

Fingers crossed it works out for all parties 🙂

@4 I reckon that could be this 16 year old Slovakian lad, who signed and played in Hong Kong 7s tournament – they’ve high hopes for him, or so I have been told.

Great news. As an Aussie I loved having Craig Moore in the team even though he was past his best. If this kad can make a step up he will also be a future Aussie International as playing in the PL especially with a team like ours almost ensures he will play for the socceroos.
