It seems that Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Valencia have joined Newcastle United in trying to sign Lille right-back Mathieu Debuchy, after the Frenchman had a good tournament at Euro 2012.

Who’s that guy on his right?
France were eliminated last night by Spain in the quarter finals, by a score of 2-0, and Debuchy actually played out on the right wing in that game, before he was replaced in the second half.
The big thing going for Newcastle is that he is good friends with Yohan Cabaye, the star Newcastle and French midfielder, and that may still sway the deal Newcastle’s way.
But the sticking point could be what Lille want for their player, and the range is anywhere from £6M to £10M, with Newcastle already having had an initial bid of £4M turned down by his French club.
Lille sold his pal Yohan to Newcastle last summer for about £4M – which has turned out to be a fantastic deal for the Magpies.
The Daily News is reporting today that the defender has told his friends he will only leave the French club for Newcastle, after he has been given great reviews at Euro 2012, especially for his performance against England in the first game, and he’s looked an excellent player.
He would look even better in black and white stripes, and this will be great news for Newcastle fans, if it is true, because the Geordies just love players who go out of their way to come to Tyneside, and want to play for the famous English club.
The Daily News is quoting the asking price to be £7M, and we at least expect Newcastle to go in with an increased bid, maybe around £5.5M (?), now that France have been eliminated from the Euro 2012.
Debuchy would be a great buy for Newcastle, and we hope we can get him before pre-season starts on July 5th.
We also hope this story is true. 😀
