There is news today that Demba Ba is becoming increasingly frustrated with news reports linking him to other clubs, especially in Turkey.
Demba Ba – wants to stay at Newcastle at least another season
There are many hangers-on around Ba, and some of them are trying to act as his agents, and if they can get a deal done, they will then have a claim to be paid as the agent associated with the deal.
That’s what is behind people touting his name around Europe, and why there seems so many news stories about Ba going around this summer, and it’s also because of that £7M release clause in his contract, and for such a good player, he wouldn’t cost much.
Tottenham, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have all been linked with the 27 year-old in this summer’s transfer window, and apparently, the release clause states that his reps could earn as much as £3M if they get a deal done for the striker.
We wonder who put that little piece into his contract at Newcastle? 😀
Ba’s release clause ends on July 31st, and we hope we are not going to have this stuff going on for the next five weeks or so, although we fully expect Alan Pardew to want an answer from Ba on his intentions, and whether he wants to stay at Newcastle.
Sources said to be close to the Senegal International, have told the local press that he has not been pressing for a transfer away from Newcastle, and wants to stay on Tyneside for at least next season.
Ba has just two years left on his deal at Newcastle, and if he doesn’t sign an extension by next summer, Newcastle would probably want to cash in on him, before he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2014.
It’s probably very true that some of the discussions being initiated by his “agents” do not have Ba’s blessing, but it’s up to Demba Ba to be firm, and tell the guys to cut it out, if indeed he doesn’t want to move away from Newcastle.
But we also should be getting to hear directly from the player himself very soon, because pre-season starts a week on Thursday, and Alan Pardew should be talking to the player way before that.
