Newcastle Trying To Arrange Tour Of Germany

News in the Newcastle Jounal this morning,  that Newcastle are trying to add some games in Germany to fill out their pre-season schedule.

It would be great to play Bayern Munich

Although Newcastle have not announced anything yet, German third division  side FC Chemnitzer  have announced on their web-site that Newcastle will play them on Friday, July 13.

The Journal is reporting that Newcastle are in the process of arranging two more friendly games in Germany, for the week of  beginning Monday, July 16th.

So that tour of Germany will precede the two games they will play on successive days in the Algarve tournament, against Greek Champions Olympiacos on 27th July, and against Portuguese Champions FC Porto the next day – and both games will be played at the Algarve Stadium, near Faro, Portugal.

It seems that if Newcastle can arrange two games in Germany,  they will shelve an opportunity to play Sporting Lisbon, and hopefully their full pre-season schedule should be announced soon, and maybe before the end of the week.

Now let’s think – which teams should be be playing in Germany?

Make it Bayern Munich, and then either German Champions Borussia Dortmund,  or maybe even Schalke 04 – assuming the can accommodate Newcastle.

Certainly if Newcastle can arrange another two games in Germany, in addition to the  FC Chemnitzer friendly, it would be a very good pre-season schedule for the Magpies, who will then have a two-leg play-off in August,  to qualify for the group stages of the Europa League.

That’s only one  reason we need some tough games in pre-season.

Comments welcome.

Ay, nothing better than a pre-season hammering off the German champions Ed 🙂

Maybe there’s an under 11’s German girl team we could play.

Before anyone starts, I am only playing

Levi – Totally agree with you mate i personally think were waiting to see who we sell so our budget is increased then we can get the players we want but atm were sticking with around 20/25million and wont go over incase we cant sell anyone.. But end of the day its always better to go in lower than the asking price especially if you’re paying cash upfront.. Its like buying a car they have a price on the window £7,995 i would go in with a straight cash starting offer of say £6,500 probably be rejected but there is room for a deal which would probably be met at the middle around £7,200.. What i mean is dont criticise our board for trying to get the best deal for our club without breaking out little bank! Keep the faith.. Show Belief, Show Unity and most of all Show Passion! End of the day we all love Newcastle United!!

We should play a few lower level teams (1860 Munich etc…) and scout a few players whilst there.

Frieburg would be a nice option for Cisse!!

Might be some good talent in Germany and if we play the lower level teams where they play with up and coming young players, we will at least have our foot in the door.

I think its a good move to tour Germany,

Tads…Very sad news. Didn’t really know anything about the lad, but any loss of human life is always a great shame, especially to the horrible C word. RIP.

Yeah Cisse didn’t get to say goodbye to the fans that adored him as much as we do, that’d be great for him, them and us.

This is not an advertisement space. If you have something to add and then want to plug either your blog, twitter, shirts or whatever then fine, but at least add something to the mix

This is great news for us German based Mags. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a West German based team to be arranged.

Eintracht Frankfurt would be ideal as they have just been promoted. Köln would be good too having just been relegated. Chemnitz is just a bit too far and I hate the East 😀
