Newcastle Make Bid For FC Twente Full-Back

Roberto Rosales’ agent is saying that Newcastle have made an offer for the FC Twente 23 year-old right back .

Roberto Rosales – have Newcastle put in bid for Twente right-back?

And apparently newly promoted Reading are another  club who are said to be interested in the 38 times capped Venezuelan International, who is keen to leave Dutch football this summer.

It looks like Mathieu Debuchy of France is Newcastle’s number one full-back target, but if Mathieu proves too expensive, maybe Rosales could be the next in line?

This is what his agent Claudio Ramos has said today, reported in tribalfootball initially, but it has been picked up by some news organizations:

“We already know that Newcastle United has made some offers and Reading have showed interest.”

We have to be very careful what agents say during transfer windows, because they are often expressing what they hope will happen, and not what actually has happened.

Ramos only gets paid if Rosales is transferred, and we’d be very surprised if Newcastle have put in a bid for the Venezuelan- born full back.

Rosales is rated at about £3M, although that even seem high for a player who has just one year left on his contract at the Dutch club.

On May 25th last month we reported that Ramos had said that Newcastle were interested, along with some other clubs in Europe, but he never mentioned at that time,  that any bid had been made for his client:

“Newcastle and FC Porto are two clubs that are closely following Roberto. There is also interest from two German and two Spanish clubs.”

“But the transfer market will be open for a long time and I remind everyone that most deals will be completed in August.”

We’d be really surprised if Newcastle have already made an offer for the player, although they may have made a cheeky bid of around £1M – maybe.

Newcastle could be interested in Rosales, but it depends on how high a priority he is at the Tyneside club, and Debuchy is currently the number one full-back target, there’s no doubt about that.

Roberto has played 84 times for FC Twente over the last couple of seasons with three goals, and he looks a decent enough player.

Comments welcome.

Apparently Ola Toivonen’s agent has said we have been in contact with him. Does this mean the end of Luuk De Jong pusuit? I really hope not, Toivonen is a good player but De Jong is as good now and has the potential to be alot better.

I absolutely do not want Ola Toivonen at this club. First reason, is he would cost 5+ million, and will not start at this club. 2nd, I just don’t think he is that good of a footballer… I have seen him play multiple times, and never been impressed, he is just there, and looks like an ordinary one…
I am really not interested, now this is my opinion….

Ola Toivonen could thrive at Newcastle. He’s good. And with Besty Loven and maybe even Ba leaving us we need to get some offensive alternatives.

Baro – What’s your thoughts on Anita?

Mayuka or N’Doye might be our targets replacing Ba if he leaves.

De Jong is a update of Best.

I doubt we’d pay 11+ mil for a Best replacement. De Jong looks leagues better than Best…

That’s why I wrote update rather then replacement. Money left over from other deals makes us able to update weak spots.

I imagine if we get rosales that ends our interest in debuchy as we’ll have santon, perch, raylor, simmo, tav and rosales all capable at rb. Only thing is debuchy is more than a good player, who has a desire to come here, he also ties down cabaye, our best player, who I fear we will lose after next season if debuchy aint brought in. Id pay £7mill to cabayes gardener if it meant keepin him, but debuchy is quality, willing, available and not too expensive
Be disapointed if we brought any other rb in even maicon, as its not gonna help our cabs stay put.

I want both Rosales and debuchy.
Rosales as our rb and debuchy as our defensive mid.
    Rosales. saylor. Colo. santon
    Tiote. debuchy
    Benny. cisse. ba/de Jong

I seriously doubt if there’s any truth in this Rosales story. If there was, surely it would have been reported first by a news organisation based in Holland or UK and then picked up later by the various footy rumour sites like tribalfootball, not the other way round.

Also, his agent was quoted as saying that Newcastle had made “some offers” which implies that they made more than one. That could only mean that the club made an initial offer that was rejected so they went back in with a higher one. Clearly that hasn’t happened, otherwise we would have heard about it by now!

Unfortunately tribalfootball have got a very poor track record with their dodgy transfer rumours, and this one looks to be no exception.

We have Santon, Raylor, Perch, Tav, Fergie as full backs and 3 of them can play both sides. That’s 5 players not including Jonas who can play as full back too. Getting 1 more full back is ok, but 2 fb is a waste of money. Even if we don’t get another fb, we still have 6.
I hope we are getting a striker, left winger, and cb. I don’t think we can rely on Williamson as backup for Saylor or Colo, he made too many mistakes and uncomfortable with the ball, we should get Italian cb.

no need Ola Toivonen, i more interest both John Guidetti &
Luc Castaignos.i trust that Man City can’t offer Guidetti a chance play first term.he can play left side &
forward, is suitable for 433. Luc Castaignos become second choice striker if Ba left.he is strong, strength and young.
may be we get both guys just 10M~

1st choice for another fb is Debuchy, 2nd is Anita.
I believe we have a good chance getting Debuchy especially he was crap against spain, that’s why we nolonger pursuing Anita.
If it’s true that we launch a bid for Rosales, it’s only a manuver in transfer strategy for Debuchy or Anita to lower their price. If we didn’t show we have another targets, their price will be very high, but it’s also depends on other teams bidding for them. It’s just like women shopping for bags, shoes, or clothes in the market, they like to go in and out shops and bargaining looking for discounts comparing one shop with another to get better price and service. Yes, it’s really annoying and painful to follow.

If his price tag is 10m that will be 5m less than DeJong price tag. He could be as good as Inzaghi.
Then we will have Cisse and new Inzaghi in the team. 🙂

So, we need a RB, as the Simpson deadlock won’t be resolved. Will this make much difference? Maybe, if he is as good as Santon. So, what is the missing ingredient, that which will make us more competitive more consistently? What do your MU’s and MC’s have that we don’t? Well, depth to start with, so that rotation, injuries don’t affect performance. What else? Small. tricky forwards seem a good advantage (liverpool has one too). And, good pacy wingers to open up play when things are tight. I say we need one good winger on each side. There really should be two names in many positions… so more than 11 players below, depending on formation-opponent

I agree with Redondo. Bringing in two full backs will be a massive waste of money…certainly think we need one to step up in quality from Simmo but that is sufficient. On that front Debouchy or Rosalez would both be great signings…have to give the slight edge to Rosalez because of his age and price. Also think this guy is better going forward..excellent assist record last year for a fullback (only behind Alves)

Based on last season I think we are just as urgently need a starting center back. Big Saylor fan..but I can’t recall the last time he had a full season for us. Williamson is a decent back up but I blame alot of last seasons drubbings on himself and Simmo having the occasional shocker…when they are good they are good..on off days as bad as it gets, Think getting a center back that is actually good enough will be the trickiest task this summer.

    In response to 33 & 34…

I think for the first..Benny and Cabaye in the middle would mark a big change in what brought us alot of success last season. Think it would only be wise to free Cabaye up if we had another solid DCM alongside Tiote. Our best play came from soaking up pressure as a team and then breaking forward as a team. While its not ideal to have Cabaye in a deeper role, his presence there has suited this style of play.

As for the second I feel Fergie and Vuckic will play alot more games next season, particularly in the early stages of the cup competitions (europa included). Still not ready for the first team however. Marveux on the otherhand is a tricky one. Definitely has the quality but I think would be asking too much to expect a full season from him. Think he will have a similar season to the one benny had last year..gradually ease him in and hope he doesnt break down.
