The Newcastle Journal are reporting that Newcastle are on the brink of signing left-footed Australian defender Curtis Good, and they report some media outlets in Australia are saying the deal has been struck.
Curtis Good – on of the very best teenagers in Australia
Good’s agent Zeljko Susa happens to be arriving in England today, and the news is that he will meet with Newcastle officials, with the view to pushing the deal through, and they quote the price at £400K.
This is what Sussa told the Journal today:
“The clubs have been talking for a while and we’re still unsure whether it’s actually happening,” “I know Newcastle like him and I’m hopeful, but I’m not 100% at the moment on the deal.”
“Of course, it is a huge step up for Curtis because the English Premier League is another level from the APL but he is a very talented kid.”
“The reality is we’re not trying to flick him on to anyone. Newcastle United is a massive, massive club with a great history.” “He certainly enjoyed himself at Newcastle.”
“I think we just want to wait and see what happens with Newcastle before we look at anything else with Curtis.”
Curtis is one of the very best youngsters in Australia and reports today that he is on the verge of being called up bu the full Australian team, and will join up with senior squad for training.
Curtis is a very good technical player, and at 6’2″ we assume he’s pretty good in the air too.
It’s not the big signings Newcastle fans want to hear about – with Mathieu Debuchy, Luuk de Jong and Vurnon Anita being Newcastle’s top three senior targets this summer, according to the Journal.
But he could turn out to be one of the best signings Newcastle have made, if he develops well over the next year or two, and that’s what we’ll be hoping for.
It just shows that Newcastle are literally looking around the world for top young players to be brought to Tyneside.
What do you think?

Comment #4His agent doesn’t seem to be in the loop.
Which means that the two clubs haven’t reached a deal yet.

Newcastle also in Holland to talk about Douglas – but Twente are standing firm on both players. Derek Llambias wants deals done.

Comment #10Pretty much obvious as heck now luuk De Jong is our number 1 target this summer. And our board are going to do everything to nail it. Even with twente asking price for luuk, we seem relentless in our pursuit. Graham Carr and llambias must have seen something in him. Lol deems like llambias would move mountains to bring luuk De Jong here.

Comment #13I keep seeing everyone double posting. Is that because your Android phone says “comment not published” even though it is? Keeps happening to me.
Also, seems like a positive news day 🙂

Comment #15The Curtis Good deal is win/win. He costs peanuts (relatively speaking, of course) and if he’s good enough we have a great player. If he doesn’t fit the bill then I bet we don’t sell him for any less that £1m. Can’t lose.
