Yohan Cabaye Now A Top Player In Europe

It was great to watch Yohan Cabaye play so well for France in Euro 2012, and hear the TV commentators and analysts saying what a very good player he looked.

Yohan Cabaye – in action for France earlier this month

And of course he’s become a top player for France, and the 26 year-old was one of the best midfield players on show in Poland and the Ukraine, although there were quite a few very good central midfielders on show.

To think Newcastle picked this lad up last summer for just over £4M, shows us that something very right is going on at Newcastle United these days.

Now we need to get his big pal Mathieu Debuchy in from Lille, and if we can also get Luuk de Jong from FC Twente, and keep our top players on Tyneside, we will have the makings of an even better side next season.

Yohan Cabaye has been interviews for the Newcastle web-site, and he is looking forward to playing ion the Europa league for Newcastle next season:

“Playing in Europe next season is massive for the club and massive for the players as it shows progression.” “We have to play in these sort of competitions for the experience. It can only be a good thing for us as a squad.”

“And the fans will love it too. I can’t wait for a European night in our stadium – it will be great.” “It will be really important to play well in this competition and I’m sure we can do well.”

After seeing how well Yohan played for France earlier this month, it makes it less surprising that Newcastle finished 5th top of the Premier League last season, after this very good technical player appeared 38 times for the Magpies with 5 goals and 9 assists.

He’s been an excellent buy for Newcastle, and that’s a bit of an understatement.

Cabaye is only just hitting his peak and I also think next season Tiote will show his better form more often and with HBA in the team from seasons start it promises to good.

Also we welcome back Saylor, Krul continues to grow, Santon will have adopted more, Colo is Colo, Ba (hopefully) will have something to prove and Cisse is a born goal scorer. With Obertan and Marveaux looking to make a mark it promises to be exciting times.

That doesn’t even take into consideration the new players that may come in.

Mentality is 90% of football and if we can strengthen the team and give the players a new belief that we can challenge top 4 then nothing can stop a team just now hitting its stride.

Remember guys our team is only 1 season old and a year together can only improve us.

Much remains to be seen and a lot rests of our transfer business but if we can pull this off we can be top 4.

Others can call us delusional but over the years we have learned to dampen our expectations and now, as hard as it is, we are realists.

That’s why we argue so much, debate so often and disagree all the time. One thing we can see eye to eye about is that if we sign these 4 players linked to us then we have one of the best starting 11’s in the pl. equal to the very top of the tree.

Tottenhams boss can’t remembers his name? Was reported to be over sorting out tottenhams deal for vertonghen and then fell through so I’ll believe it when the medical reports are being published!

Cabaye is a top player, glad he’s in our team.great work rate too for a foreign player .
Think Guthrie will be hard to replace as he just fitted nicely into the team.
We ave Percherinho bt he ain’t exactly a goal threat.
Also I think it’s a shame that Fraser F never got to play for his home town club seeing as he’s a quality keeper.
Tis great we have wor Tim but just unlucky timing for Fraser.

Yohan was an absolute steal. When dealing with clubs now they will be noting our elevated presence in the premier league table and adding to the players value accordingly.
Manchester settee have sought to both accelerate their development and avoid eufa’s financial constraints by spending horrendous amounts of cash.
Ashley knows the increased riches on the way from the future tv deal. If we go out and spend 30-40 million this summer we can consolidate our position in the top 7 and buy top players for realistic values before the premier league is awash with cash and prices go through the roof and eufa impose sanctions on spending.
We would save a fortune in the long term and gain a massive advantage on other premier league teams. This would allow us to gain extra revenue via sponsorship deals which are currently sadly lacking in comparison with our rivals st the top end of the prem.
As I say Mike knows this as he is acutely aware of financial markets and how to steal a march on his competitors.
Failure by the club to compete at the top of the league with a spend of 40 million in my eyes would be confirmation the Ashley is happy to have the club in the prem and continue to use us for free advertising to sports direct which continues to thrive and drive up his personal wealth.
I am against massive spending which would endanger the club but surely failure to spend this summer and get a massive head start on our rivals who do not have a billionaire owner marks us as treading water.
Over to you Derek and Michael…….

For me Futhrie showed flashes of brilliance that never amounted to a run of good form.

Maybe he wasn’t given a chance to play as often as he would’ve liked but for me the club didn’t want to retain him or they would’ve strived to do so.

I think we’ve got a replacement lined up or just see Guthrie as a player blocking the progress of Vuckicand Abied.

    Ash out

    Terrible name but excellent post.

I have said before this is the most important transfer window in our clubs history not only because we can steal a march on our rivals but also because it will show is in true form the intentions of our much maligned owner.

If he spends anything close to the numbers you suggest then I think in many peoples things will be forgiven. Of course many will never forgive but if we spend that amount and challenge top 4 next year it’ll be clear that all things are done in the next interest of the club.

If not and the club doesnt spend in the market then I think the opposite will happen and a lot of fans will come off the fence and revert back to their hatred of our owner.

Who knows? Maybe in 6 months Ashley will be stood amongst the fans again or perhaps we will force him out?!

I think if we can get in De Jong and Debuchy we’ll have a very strong team ready for next year although I still want a new centre back.
