Newcastle In Negotiations For Four Or Five Players

Last week Newcastle significantly increased their activity in the transfer market and are at the moment in negotiations for four players, and maybe even five.

Mathieu Debuchy – Newcastle upped their bid to £6M

Things are on a knife edge with Newcastle’s negotiations with FC Twente for two of their top players – 21 year-old striker Luuk de Jong, and Brazilian center-back Douglas.

And Derek LLambias and Lee Charnley will agin be meeting today in Enschede in Holland, with the goal being to agree a fee for both of these players, and then agree terms with each of the players.

So the next 24 hours could be vital for Newcastle, especially for Luuk de Jong, with other top clubs including Borrusia Monchengladbach in for the youngster, and the German club are probably the biggest threat to Newcastle.

Newcastle also are waiting news from French club Lille on their improved bid of £6M for right-back Mathie Debuchy, and we suppose the good news is that no other big clubs seemed to have made a move for the top class full-back.

And news in the local press today that Newcastle will be tying up a deal for Melbourne Heart defender Curtis Good, and the fee is expected to be for £400K, and Curtis will  start his career on Tyneside in the Development squad, just like Mehdi Abeid did last summer.

But we expect Curtis to push to become part of the first team squad almost immediately,  if he’s as good as we think he is, just as the young Frenchman from Lens did last pre-season.

So those are the four players Newcastle are after this week, and if they can get all four to Tyneside, that would be just fantastic.

And probably the next player in line after those four,  is 23 year-old Ajax full back Vurnon Anita,  and Newcastle have already had a bid of £5M turned down by his club Ajax.

The player is also comfortable in defensive midfield,  and he let it be known yesterday that he was very interested in joining Newcastle United – which he called a beautiful club.

We’d have to agree with him on that one – hey – sign him up!

But of all those players, the two players Newcastle fans seem most keen on,  are Mathieu Debuchy and Luuk de Jong, and if we can get these two to Tyneside, it will have been a massive coup by Newcastle United this summer.

Howay The Lads!!

Following from Beatie’s post on the last thread……

If you dont like it dont read it. Hatem, Ed is only reporting on what he’s heard through the metophorical grapevine. Unless your an actual club insider (not a cwarr07) you know just as much as Ed. Go join another forum if you have a problem.

Repost – Just see some alleged man utd fan has racially abused Simmo via twitter. What a dirtbag. Apparently hundreds of toon supporters defended simmo instantly. Maybe he will learn now that we have the best fans in the world and that the grass isn’t always greener. Having debuchy and Simpson competing for 1 spot only strengthens our squad.

TorqToon – if Simpsons stays and signs a new contract, Debuchy doesnt get signed IMO. He is a replacement, not competition

Why are a lot of people on here so catty about other posters comments and all so quick to jump down eds throat for any reason? Your all meant to be toon fans, what I’d like to know is, do any of the catty priks actually go to games, because before during and after a game up at st James we all share the same love, respect others opinions (football is a game made of many diff people’s opinions) listen to others positives and negatives after the game down the pub, having a laugh.cthats what supporting the club is all about.

Ed does a great job running this site, puts a few posts up, based on his OWN opinions, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Dre4mbo4t – spot on mate. We all live under the same flag and that’s the black and white. Whether or not people can get to games or not is irrelevant, we have fans all over the world and wherever you are we should back the club, the players and eachother. Also without Ed, we wouldn’t have the chance to speak too and discuss our beloved club with all the people on here. Like has been said before…if you don’t like it…do one! You are not needed and will not be missed.

And as for the supposed ITK’s, the only ones who have ever come up trumps was that Craig coozy as he worked at JDH, got every transfer right from the summer we were relegated, he had to stop posting as the hotel found out someone was leaking info, and from what I remember Geordie Gerrard got the cabaye and a few French deals spot on even a year before he joined, as from what I remember he or a friend? Worked in the development squad of Lille?? And cabaye was asking him about the north east

Ed has to strike a balance between uploading regular articles even when there is no real news, writing headlines that get attention and clicks, and getting fans interested enough in his comments to post replies.

He does a magnificent job and whilst he may be a bit sensationalist at times (as I’ve pointed out previously) there isn’t a better NUFC blog on the internet.

We all would probably like all of the aforementioned to join us, the only one who concerns me is Debuchy, as impressive as he was for France in the Euro’s I have still not sen him defend, before the Euro’s he did play and score a goal but defensivly the entire team were a shambles, it may not have been his fault, but then again it might, against England and Ukraine he was against two poor sides who where hell bent on keeping a clean sheet, the last against Sweden I can’t commment as I was watching England, but in the Q’s against Spain he was employed as a right winger rather than as a fullback, so I still haven’t seen him defend, and judging reports defending is his weakness

Been reading this blog for about a year now and have only got round to registering now! Gotta say I’m so looking forward to the new season, the club is in a good place right now and is reaping the rewards of being well run finally. Here’s hoping we can get our transfer targets over the line in the next few days and really kick on this season. Fine work Ed, keep it up. Oh and how good were Spain last night?

Just a thought on the Douglas staying in holland thing. Is it possible for him to apply for a working holiday visa. That would therefore mean he’d still technically be living in holland and thus gain nationality when in reality he’d be over here? Would that work or am I miles wide of the mark

i agree douglas could bag us another 9+ points a season by making the defence more solid than with willo covering.
dabuchy is world class from what i have seen of him and would be worth the 6-7-8 mil to secure him if we lose out on any players i hope it is de jong and just buy a cheaper striker as cover i hear maiga was upset about not joining us and he’s been quoted at 5mil

    @croftus5678

Miaga would be a bad idea since he is going to the ACoN. If we do get other players they have to be from anywhere else other than Africa because we cannot lose more players to the ACoN, 3 are going for sure, and Shola could get called up to the Nigerian squad so it would be a disaster if Miaga is also on the team.
