Reports Newcastle To Play Fenerbahce In Pre-Season

11:15 am, Monday, July 2nd, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 62 Comments

There are reports coming out of Turkey that Newcastle could be playing the Instanbul based Turkey club, Fenerbahce,  in pre-season.

Linked with the reports of the game with Fenerbahce are that another possible match will be with with Polish side Wisla Krakow – and both games would be played in Vienna, the capital of Austria.

Newcastle have only so far announced three games as part of their pre-season, plus a game against Gateshead, where they will send a Newcastle eleven to play at the International Stadium.

Date TeamLocation
Fri 13 July KO 6;30 pm Chemnitzer FC - Lost 1-0Stadion an der Gellertstraße - Chermnitz, Germany
Mon 16 July KO 7:00 pm AS Monaco - Won 1-0Landsberg am Lech, Germany
Sat 21 July KO 7:30 pmFernerbahce - Drew 1-1 Sonnenseestadion, SC Ritzing, Austria
Fri 27 July KO 8:45 pmOlympiacos - Drew 1-1 4-4 on penalties Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 28 July KO 8:45 pmFC Braga - won 2-1 Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 4 August KO 5:00 pm Den Haag - Drew 0-0Kyocera Stadium, Den Haag
Tues 7 Aug KO 7:30 pmHartlepool - Won 5-1Victoria Park, Hartlepool
Sat 11 Aug 3:00 pmCardiff - Lost 4-1Cardiff City Stadium

But  Monaco and FC Chemnitzer have previously announced they will also be playing Newcastle in pre-season too, so we expect an announcement from Newcastle on their full pre-season schedule fairly shortly, once the full pre-season schedule is worked out:

  • July 13 – Friday – Chemnitzer FC at the Stadion an der Gellertstraße
  • July 16 – Monday – AS Monaco at Landsberg am Lech

Landsberg am Lech is a town in southwest Bavaria, Germany and Monaco will be playing  other games at that time in Germany.

We would expect these two games, if the reports are true, to be positioned after the two games in Germany and before Newcastle play in the Algarve tournament in Faro, Poutugal staring on 27th July.

Comments welcome.

We seem to be getting linked with lots of friendlies? The lads are going to be hanging come the beginning of the season :)

    Tour of Europe!

Boys gone wildthaynwoll be a great bonding experience especially if we have new players coming in.

Germany, Austria and Portugal and against French, Polish, Turkish, German, Greek and Portugese competition. Perfect preparation for the Europa leauge.

But unless i see a pictue of Alan inside ST
James holding the fixture list high above his head whilst an nufc scarf is draped over his shoulders then I won’t believe it.

  • 4 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 11:25 AM

Beattie….Are we applying that to all forms on news now?

Going to be tough on Alan holding all press conferences from the tunnel holding up a scarf

leon best away .. surely only if we’ve a striker bought ..

  • 8 Big Pappa Cisse // Jul 2, 2012 at 11:43 AM

Always liked Besty, played his part in the memorable 4-4 with Arsenal and he should do well in the championship next season. For me this is good news as we must have a striker or two lined up already.

  • 9 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 11:44 AM

Whilst I quite like Best, imo he is reasonably easy to replace with a younger model. No disrespect to the guy, he’s done us well, but he isn’t going to push anyone out of the starting 11, so we should upgrade with a younger, hungrier player.

    Yeah, that’s right….I want a fatty!

    I’m all for that.

  • 14 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:01 PM

Beattie….When I think fat, I think Mike. Save him a few quid too!

Wait, am I being fatist? I am only joking, in case that isn’t obvious to everyone

    @ Indian

What has that got to do with the price of cheese like, he has scored a decent amount for us in the premier league so by your reasoning he will do shit in the championship, think about it for more than 10 seconds please m8

I actually think Leon Best will do a good job for Blackburn.

He filled in when Carroll jumped ship & done a good job.

    Good luck to the lad…

  • 19 No Plain Saylor // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:14 PM

Good luck ta bestie, wasn’t great by any means but did a job for us when called upon which is all we could ask. Hope to see an irish player at nufc again soon, hopefully a good one

I hope Steve Kean brings Blackburn back up like.
Them fans will be on his back from the first game for sure.

The way he was treated by them at times last season was a disgrace. It was hard to watch..

  • 24 MagpiesFlyHigh // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:17 PM

    Just cheikin’ in.
    On the late shift ?

We sold anybody for big bucks yet ?
    signed RVP for £8m?
sold Cabaye for two pints of lager and a packet of crisps ?
Munchkins got Douglas and De Jong ?

Some lads gettin stressed by the wait I see

  • 25 Robby Bobson // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:18 PM

Doubt a striker as good as best can be brought for 2 million….two footed, good in the air and can hold up the ball.

Lets just hope hes been able to go down as we have a certain someone on his way here..

  • 28 Indian Magpie // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:20 PM

    mythoughts were

0 goals in CCC with an excellent supply line,

hope he does well. all the best always tried hard but thats a given

  • 30 Beattie25 // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:23 PM

Leon Best has done a decent job for us but he was (IMO) nothing more than an insurance policy.

U said it a few weeks ago that he, Willo, Simmo and routledge were bought during relegation as a safeguard against future relegation should that apply.

Instead we stayed up and each (aside from routledge) was given a further season to prove themselves. IMO none have given us cause or case against to say that each could not he replaced by better to improve the team.

Thanks to him for all his hard work and good luck

Any news as to whom those players are so we start to debate who might be leaving?!

  • 35 hoppernufc // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:32 PM

Selling best must mean we have someone to bring in straight away cos we are very low on numbers

i have posted three link earlier
nufc will get some money from uefa thanks to euro
so that means we can raise the bid or buy some good youngster

Is there such a thing as players tapping up other players for their clubs ?, because it seems like we are trying to do it with Debuchy through Cabaye

  • 39 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:34 PM

Beattie…Wouldn’t it be more entertaining to just assume who’s there and who isn’t? Since when do we base our abuse on facts? :)

Haha cheeky sod. I was just reliving the good old save Besty day

Good luck to the bloke I met him once seemed a sound lad. On the pitch he gave his all and, imo, added a lot to Ba’s early season run

Hope he brings success to Blackburn if he does end up there

Haha nar I don’t see Blackburn pushing for a long time tbh but its a shame seeing a good club like them down reminds me of us and West Ham tbh

  • 44 Beattie25 // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:47 PM

I think Demba Ba will fail his fitness test with us and we will try to sell him on for 100k

Looking at the pictures on twitter Danny Simpson has been in the gym. It’s good to see he’s got himself a part time job.

Vuckic will get injured walking into Benton.

    Guru will wiegh 32 stone.

Colos hair will have grown so immense and curly that Obertan will be living in it.

Willo will make a wring turn in his tractor and turn up 3 days late, as he does with most crosses.

Marveaux will have his groin constantly groped.

Xisco will be the fittest player there but mistaken for a cleaner.

Santon will be in tears after last nights result and the fact that Italy only choose 1 under 23 player, the rest being between 35-50.

Perchinho will be in mardid sorting out his contract with Moutinho.

Raylor will be covering for hatem, Papiss, krul and Cabaye in an attempt to show his flexibility.

Fergie will still be deciding whether to play for the republic or northern Ireland.

Harper will be collecting his pension.

Elliot will still be pinching himself to make sure he isn’t dreaming.

Saylor will have put his tom-tom onto Japanese and will end up in Cowdenbeath.

Shola will be gaffer tapes to Indian magpies sink.

Sammy will be getting confused with shola.

Abied will be taking a Geordie speaking for beginners class.

And finally Pardew will be trying to get his car over the line.

Yo….Very sad, but that is the nature of the PL and what happens if you let your club free fall.

Beattie…. :) Sounds like a typical pre season then

  • 49 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:53 PM

Indian…Not sure a double post was the best way to win people over :)

  • 50 MagpiesFlyHigh // Jul 2, 2012 at 12:53 PM

Look on the bright side lads….if it had all gone pear shaped a few years ago we could have been like Rangers….three first team players turned up for training and probably then two divisions lower than SPL. Company has already put the ground, Murray Park and all other property assets under another company name…

Plus your post is a bit misleading……………….

  • 54 pieceofpapiss // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:06 PM

Great move for the Mackems signing a Rangers reject who spent most of last season injured. Cuellar will fit right in with Bramble the rap!st and john o’sh!t. Cissie is going to muller them next season.

  • 55 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:10 PM

pieceofpapiss….I think the scum game is a chance to rest Cisse (P.S. Be careful not to call him a cissie again :) ) and unleash the mackem slayer

  • 56 pieceofpapiss // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:15 PM

Ibiza. I forgot the mighty Shola is worth a few goals against the great unwashed. Plus we always have Raylor’s “over the wall” exploits.

I am itching to get this new season underway. Missed the last 2 seasons working abroad but, now im back, i have my season ticket sorted (Strawberry corner, 4 rows from pitch side) and waiting for the new Home shirt to come out.

  • 57 No Plain Saylor // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:17 PM

Balotellis agent has said that hes the first player to be worth £200m… what a pile of sh!te, I like balotelli but in fairness hes not even the best player at city. Get real like, he’s got about as much consistancy as a tampon, does the job once a month

  • 58 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:21 PM

Pieceofpapiss….I hope it’s as good as last season for you (well, for all us) :)

Plain Saylor…..Regardless of whether he is or isn’t worth that, there is definitely one player who he doesn’t come near and that is Messi.

Young, well rounded professional and bags of talent. Has to be the most highly valued player in the world

  • 59 No Plain Saylor // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:28 PM

Everyone knows messi’s way out of balotellis league so’s ronaldo and imo at least 30 other players. Not jumpin on the pick on balotelli bandwagon atal, I enjoy him and would hate him to leave the epl if he sorted his head out he could be one of the greats. Does anyone see that tho?

  • 60 Ketsbaia9 // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:48 PM

We need to be in a place where we believe that we can challenge for the top 4 at the start of the season. We have an excellent young squad at the moment and a few quality signings will transform us. I think Alan knows this as well.

Disappointed to see Best leaving, however, it will be forgotten if we bag a couple of strikers.

I also think that Paul Scharner would be a good signing. He’s versatile and is a goal threat. I’d take him on a 2-3 year contract. Get rid of Williamson for £750k and then bag Paul on a free. He is 10 times better and Alan said that he wanted a goalscoring defender.

  • 61 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 2, 2012 at 1:58 PM

Kestbaia…If Pardew didn’t know before, he will now

  • 62 Ketsbaia9 // Jul 2, 2012 at 2:10 PM

Yeah, I’d personally go for Vertonghen and Scharner. Douglas might be ok but Jan has a tremendous shot on him.
