We don’t know whether Demba Ba will be a Newcastle player come September or not.
Demba Ba – it’s all rumors about me
But we do know he is available for around £7M, if a club comes in before next month, and activates the release clause in his contract, and already this summer there has been lots of news on the player being wanted by a number of top clubs.
The latest news early on Tuesday was Liverpool are interested, but that would be a change for the Merseyside club, who under Kenny Dalglish massively overpaid for the players they brought in, with very few being immediate successes last season.
And late on Tuesday, Tottenham’s new manager Andre Villas-Boas has been linked with him, in addition to the two Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbehce.
But he has reminded Newcastle fans that all the stories linking him with a move away from Newcastle, are simply rumors, as he wrote on his personal Twitter account about four hours ago::
“Holla back everybody. So much stuff about me lately. Rumours are rumours! Just forget about it. By the way I had the best holiday ever!!”
Alan Pardew will be talking to the player once he returns to pre-season training on Thursday, and most Newcastle fans would like him to come out and say he wants to stay at Newcastle for next season.
But whether that’s what will happen we don’t know – but that’s what we are hoping for.
Comments welcome.

Nice of him to come out and say it! Well done Demba

Is it just me, or does anyone have concerns for next season that it may not be as fruitful as last? Maybe we should be going after international starters, not benchers like De Jong, we won’t be able to compete with Chelsea in the long run that way, who have euro winners up front, or Arsenal with Van Persie up front..
, I’ll be happy with 10th next season, just hope we don’t finish lower, like 15th..
I’m happy we are a good team and might finish top ten, and it’s sad the only way to get in to the top 3 is to spend 200 million, but I guess I’ll have to accept it

6 nufc in europe // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:16 AM
I would’nt say I have concerns for this season, but I don’t think temas like chelsea and liverpool will be as bad as they were last season. I think as a team we will improve but i’m not too sure on our league position.
Regarding this article it’s the best news we’ve heard in a while, roll on more signings!

Baro… What summer lol it’s done nothing but rain for months ha
8 Kyo // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:23 AM

11 papiss_on_your_parade // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:31 AM
Obatoyou – have you seen de jong?
He certainly isn’t a ‘bencher’
Cabaye and tiote and cost about 6 mil for both. Proof that you do not have to overspend on famous international starters.
12 shearerclass09 // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:35 AM
kyo must be a mackam .. for one why would you want ba to leave? two we won’t earn any money of his sale you mug.. good on you ba love to see you in the black and white next season. and no one else has signed our targets so keep hope. howay the Lads
13 Kyo // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:36 AM
Ba can’t play with Cisse. Would rather have Hoilett on the wing.
14 papiss_on_your_parade // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:40 AM
Kyo
So you want to sell him for nothing?
Think about how good a sub ba would make if cisse got tired/injured.
15 gndtoon // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:43 AM
Hey lads haven’t posted on here in a LONG time … but was wondering what you lot think the price for Jordan Rhodes would be …. same age as de jong and we are willing to pay 10 mill for him ? sure Rhodes would be less and to me almost as good
16 shearerclass09 // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:43 AM
so you want only one mane striker and we are in Europe ba will be perfect to swap in and out with cisse you need more than eleven players there’s going to be a lot of games next season buck up lad
17 Kyo // Jul 4, 2012 at 12:46 AM
Actually you lads bring up a fair point. If Cisse gets injured we’re screwed. Would love to see a 4-5-1 formation though, Spain style.
Don’t think Ba would want to sit on the bench ever.

So impressed with Ba as a person. Always seems very modest and honest; plus, the way he has acted after not scoring and playing out on the left has been exemplary.
Seems to genuinely like Newcastle (both the place and club) too.
24 Kc-Toon // Jul 4, 2012 at 3:23 AM
obatoyou
You dont know much about football, do you? De jong is 21, He was never going to start for the netherlands when they have experienced players who would walk into most teams starting lineup. Once De jong hits the age of 28, Like van persie is now, He will be a first team regular without doubt. Your after international players? Not learnt from the micky owen or Patrick Kluivert days?
25 ROSHAN MAGPIE // Jul 4, 2012 at 3:31 AM
A Geordie and a Mackem are walking down the street when the Geordie says, “Look, a dead bird!” So the Mackem looks up!
26 magpiebop // Jul 4, 2012 at 3:45 AM
Take no notice of makems like Kyo and Obatoyou. Things are great and only getting better. Ba is going nowhere and we don’t need to sell before we buy. It is important we only pay what a player is worth because they won’t bugger off when we don’t want them once on the gravy train. A bigger squad wii more quality is essential to challenge because in this day it’s about more than the eleven players on the pitch.
27 ToonMauritius // Jul 4, 2012 at 6:27 AM
hi lads,
anybody here
28 Kc-Toon // Jul 4, 2012 at 6:37 AM
Its nice to see jeff henderson getting snapped up by a team with a chance of playing in the champions league/ europa. Might even see him again at St james next season haha
29 Graeme // Jul 4, 2012 at 7:21 AM
Will be good to start this coming season with the main players from last season still in place.
Now just need to add some quality to improve the squad strength and add some extra depth. This has the makings of a loooong season!!!!
30 TorqToon // Jul 4, 2012 at 7:24 AM
So will TODAY be the day we hear some official news on prospective transfers?!?!?

http://www.elfvoetbal.nl/nieuws/197095_twente-mist-acht-spelers-landzaat-laatste-afval
Coach Steve McClaren can not yet rely on three players still holiday. Luuk de Jong , Andrew Bjelland and Emir Bajrami were indeed in action at the European Championships last month in Poland and Ukraine .
Purchase Felipe Gutierrez is not yet eligible to play. Also, Denny Landzaat , who last week his contract extended by one year, can not play. The experienced midfielder is struggling with a thigh injury. Nicolay Mihaylov , Douglas and Roberto Rosales can not be used because they only just gone in training.
UEFA has also extended the rules changed so that players in the first three rounds and the play-off of both the Europa League and the Champions League play, from the group stage of that tournament yet for another club may come.

Some good and not so good news. Hope its true (about Debuchy)
39 Valci // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:15 AM
Good on Ba. I hope he stays with us and that we also buy 1 additional quality striker for cover in case of injuries, lack of form or ACON.
For today i’m hoping for news on Debuchy and/or Anita. I think we urgently need signings on these 2 positions. With Anita next to Tiote in defensive midfield Cabs can play more advanced and we can better take advantage of his passing ability. So here’s hoping…
40 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:15 AM
Would anyone be disappointed if we only got these players?
(Just picking names we have been linked with)
- Douglas
- Debuchy
- John Guidetti or Costaignos or Toivonen
- Curtis Good
and of course
already signed Amalfitano.
I left Anita out because there was a skysports article claiming that they were asking for 10-12mill for Anita. Which personally I don’t think is good value for money.
41 Valci // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:21 AM
@ Perchinho
I wouldn’t be disappointed in the slightest. All those signings would be quality. Still think we need a defensive CM to play next to Tiote though even if it’s not Anita which i agree is expensive at 10mil. I would go in for him at around 5-6mil or so.
42 OoAhDembaBa // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:24 AM
Aston Villa apparently looking at brahimi
43 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:27 AM
Aye another defensive MF would be good, but if we don’t manage to get one this window, we still have Jonas and Perchinho who are both easily capable of doing a good job there.
44 Beattie25 // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:29 AM
Perchino I would say that I would be dissapointed. We have let lots of players leave, are looking to add a few more to that total and have released most of out reserve team.
We barley made it through last yearxand the gamble to to strengthen fully paid off but now we have additional games and pressure and only adding those names would give us a stronger 11 but a weaker team overall.
We need a lot of good young player to push from the reserves (like curtis good) or I would say that it’s been a bad window and that we will struggle next season and fail to retain our best next year. Those are the margins between success and failure. If we don’t sign at least 7 (not first teamers, reserves too) then we have missed the biggest opportunity out club had had in a decade.
45 ~Perchinho the Pheonix~ // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:37 AM
@Beattie25
Surely what we have now and around 4-5 new players would be enough until January where we can once again evaluate the team and bring in more reinforcements for the second half of the season?
46 Valci // Jul 4, 2012 at 8:39 AM
Beattie… i agree…i answered under the assumption that he was referring to first team players. Of course we need to add a good 6-7 quality young players to the reserve team which can grow into the team…
47 lesh // Jul 4, 2012 at 9:10 AM
Sorry to sound pessimistic but where in Ba’s quote does he say he intends to stay and wants to stay? Rumours are rumours, not fact!
48 Rotonda heights // Jul 4, 2012 at 9:12 AM
demba just get rid of the clause and let’s all move on.
49 kullmano // Jul 4, 2012 at 10:25 AM
We should play this starting eleven for the league:
Krul
Debochy Taylor Coloccini Santon
HBA Cabaye Tiote Marveaux
Cisse Ba
And for the cup games:
Krul
Tavernier Douglas Williamson Ferguson
Perch Gutierrez
Obertan Vuckic Amalfitano
Guidetti

52 obatoyou // Jul 5, 2012 at 2:30 AM
Im glad weve come through with a fantastic new approach to signings, and 21 year old de jong will be great. But untortunately the only winning approach these days seems to be buy all the top players for thirty eight million each, if we want to compete we would have had to buy de jong van persie and affellay! (at the least) sorry to say im gonna have to stop following football, wasnt even too happy with fifth, cant take more years of not being the best. We’ll be relegated again before we win the league waawaa
