Liverpool Interested In Newcastle Senegal Striker

The Daily Mirror is reporting that Liverpool may go after Newcastle’s Senegal striker Demba Ba.

Demba Ba – Liverpool not said to be interested

And in what’s been a long running saga, the  Merseyside club may see some value in activating the release clause in Demba Ba’s contract, which is said to be for £7M, and which runs out at the end of this month.

We have no idea if this report is true, since it’s always a story this summer to link Demba Ba with any big club, and we’ve already had a number of these kinds of report, linking other clubs with the Senegal International.

Ba will report back to training on Thursday, and at that time Alan Pardew will sit down with him and learn from the player exactly what he wants to do, and if he wants to seek pastures anew at a club like Liverpool then fine, we should sell him.

And that will mean Newcastle will need to bring in two new strikers this summer, and it seems we are finding it hard enough to get our first choice, 21 year-old Dutchman  Luuk de Jong,  through the door.

Liverpool could do with a bargain, after over-spending on players in the last Kenny Dalglish reign, and we’re not even going to mention that they paid out £35M to Newcastle for Andy Carroll.

But we only want people who want to stay at the Tyneside club, and if they’re even thinking of moving, that’s what they should do.

ESPN saying the Daily Mail has reported that Juv. will bid for Suarez…….so the natural jump is that Liverpool will bid for Ba.

I have seen comments that this release clause can only be triggered by clubs who have quakified for The Champions League , which rules out the bindippers. Can anyone clarify this idea?

Well, having royally screwed the bindippers for Andy, we must be looking at another major pay day for Ba!!

Chances are they wont have worked out his alleged release clause may, or may not be now valid and just come in with a nice “silly bid” to make MA take notice lol.

    We can but hope!!

Nearly half of Ba’s wages are pay as you play, if he can get more than we pay him as a basic wage he’ll be off and you can’t blame him. But, as I keep saying, its a massive gamble by the club signing him when you add in the transfer fee, signing on fee, agents commission and a 3/4 year contract, We’ve complained long and hard about Xisco’s £5M and £50K a week being wasted but if a club signs Ba and his knee goes it will cost twice as much as Xisco.

If LPool take the gamble bad luck to them!

aside from the rumour of only cl team being able to activate the clause, would he join liverpool as opposed to staying with us? chances of success? at the minute their’s are no better than ours if not worse. going to throw money at him (70-100k)? possibly, they might, we wont. really want him to stay and compete with cisse as our front man though, if he does is there a team in the pl who have two better players vying for the same spot?

if liverfool want him they have to swap us either Saurez or Carroll & 10m ha ha!

On the bright side his clause is supposed to expire at the end of July, so we will have time to find a replacement if he does go, I think he will stay as yet he has never gave any indictation that he wants to leave, all we have had is invented stories from the press
Although Ba has a good injury record, only had one bad season which was when he sustained his knee injury £7m plus all of the add ons is a big risk as his knee could end his career at any stage, I do feel he will still be our player next season

Leroi – Why would you want Carroll back??

The team play a completely different form of football since he left; we have evolved and for the better too. We are a much different side from the one he walked away from and I just don’t see him fitting in with the “New” Newcastle United!!

I certainly can’t see Pardeau changing the way we play now just to accommodate a fairly ordinary striker.

have we actually signed any1 apart from amalfitano yet? If not WHY NOT? We’ve fricken sold 2 half decent cover players in forster & besty & made at least 5 MILLION QUID!
Sorry for the shouty rant but i’m an impatient tw*t when it comes to selling our players & not already replacing them.

I had no idea that the clause only applied to CL clubs, this is the first time I have heard this, if its true then that is a massive bonus for us, assuming that he would rather stay in England it does make you think he will be staying with us, the only English clubs who have shown an interest are Liverpool and Spurs, none of them are in the CL, of the CL qualifiers Arsenal would seem the most likely to show an interest but having just signed Giroud they may not view Ba as being needed

I would have him back as cover for cisse for a month or two and as a change of plan in a game when the opposition has nullified our current style of play oh and we’d have that 10m i mentioned to put to the de jong bid ha ha!

If the release clause is limited to CL teams, then ‘Pool approach would have been rejected immediately.

Maybe it applies to any team playing in Europe?

toonincheek @16 . Its only reported that Pool are thinking about an approach . No-one is saying that they have formally approached the club.
Can anyone confirm my initial question about Only CL clubs triggering the release clause? I asked the question @ 4 .and don’t want to be accused of starting false rumours.I’ve read this elsewhere , do we know if it is true?
