Paris Saint Germain French International Mamadou Sakho wants to leave PSG for new opportunities elsewhere, and with PSG willing to let their talented defender leave, it could be that Newcastle will become interested.
Mamadou Sakho – 22 year-old PSG center-back available?
Sakho is only 22 years old and has played for all the French Youth sides from U16 through U21, and he has already played for the full France side 5 times, and the 6’2″ Paris-born player can play at either center-back or left back.
PSG have rich backers and they are acting very much like Manchester City, in being willing to bring new players into the club for huge transfer fees, and it seems there may be no future now, for Sakho at his home town club.
The 22-year-old has been very open about wanting to leave PSG if first-team opportunities become limited, and he lost his place in the team late last season, and Arsenal and Liverpool were said to be interested in the player last summer.
Certainly he would fit right in at Newcastle, and he fits the profile of players Mike Ashley wants to bring to Newcastle, and with all the many French players like Yohan Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Sylvain Marveaux and others already on Tyneside, he would settle in very quickly.
And since Newcastle need another center-back this summer, it would seem that Newcastle should at least consider this lad, since it seems he is a top young player and has become available for transfer.
Newcastle always want value for money, and although he was valued at around £15M last summer, that figure could be reduced almost by half, and apparently we have already bid £5M for Douglas, FC Twente’s 24 year-old Brazilian center-back.
PSG are not short of money, so it would at least be worth an initial offer, of say £5M – why not?
Mamadou Sakho made his debut for PSG back in September of 2007, in the club’s 3–0 win over Lorient and he started that game at center-back when he was just 17, and since then he’s played 157 times for the Paris-based club with five goals.

i would love to have him here as he is a class CB also young and versatile but definitely his price would have to be significantly lower than the quoted £15M they wanted last summer but a player of his quality and the potential he possesses i’d be willing to pay up to £6-7M for him.

But yeah very unlikely we’d get him as he’s expensive and probably would want to join a side where he’ll get Champions League this season but as Ed says it’d be worth it just to enquire about him as come on let’s be honest we got Ben Arfa for significant amount less than he is actually worth and if PSG want rid and Sakho wants to go then we could get him cheaper than expected.

If Twente values Douglas at £ 5 mil and PSG are looking to offload Sakho, then I would go for Sakho.
Normal it affects a players value that the club is looking to sell. Much more potential here and more sell on value.

Its not just the transfer fee, which would most likely be in the 8-10mill range i can imagine he’d want huge wages aswell, and like STK said he will probs move to a side playing in the CL.
Shame though would love to see him at SJP, and he’d be a hell of a buy at 8mill.

he will cost nowhere near the 15million they wanted last year, what with them looking at other cb’s and him wanting to leave. Also he is quoted as saying he’ll do anything to leave if another defender is bought, and wants to go to a club who’ll give him plenty playing time to continue his progress. Sounds a perfect fit for us, as there will be bigger clubs in for him but he’ll not be guaranteed the playing time he wants

After doing some research on this lad, I think he would be a good buy for newcastle. It seems he doesn’t want to leave for money, he just wants more football and that is the type of player that I like. If we matched the bid of another team and he had the choice between two he may also be swayed by the number of french players in our squad, he’s bound to know Ben arfa and Cabaye from the national team

I love how people think talks have broke down for De Jong and or other players on Holland based on the fact we have heard nothing… I forgot we released a statement or that Pardew said in an interview we were heading out there for specific players… Oh wait, it never happened. Seriously, for all we know Derek and Ashley went out there for a few joints and to sample some local lady’s. Guys you know how we do business… Very quietly. Shhh. why does everyone assume he’ll demand huge wages? He clearly wants to move for footballing reasons not money, and he will not be on big wages at PSG since they had no money until a year ago. He signed his contract a couple years back so doubt they would have given a 20 year old huge wages when they didnt have much money back then

I’ve said this before but I’d be surprised if we did not get a least one player from Holland as it is quite unsual for DL & LC to both go personally (assuming it is true). It’s hard to imagine these two ‘big hitters’ out there for a few days without a fruitful result unless it was just a ‘jolly’ to Amsterdam!

People seem to get to negative. Why couldn’t we get Sakho.
Who would have thought we would get Ben arfa for 5 million.
Or convince cabaye to leave the league and cup champions and give up champs league football to sign for us.
Players want to leave clubs for more than just money and a bigger team. Sometimes they fancy a change, want to try a different league, lots of things affect the decisions.
Not saying we can get any player or this guy in particular but it doesn’t hurt for the club to enquire quietly.

Maybe Llambias can lead another delegation but this time to Paris and try and do a deal with PSG for Sakho and Gameiro also stop by Lille on the way back for Debuchy. Then bring in Hoilett and maybe take a look at Marco Verratti from Pescara as he can operate as CDM or CAM.

Cracking player, looks physically suited to the Prem also, likes to close his man down fast, and reads the game well. I would go as far as £10M if it were my money. Cmon MA, you know it makes sense, sign him for £10M, give him a 5 year deal, and he will be worth £30M inside of 12 months.

There is no harm in ed speculating.

Personally, I like Shola, I acknowledge the fact he has played through both injury and pain, and scored some of the most important goals in our clubs recent history. My view is not shared by many on the blog though.

Share your views on shola.
Not comparing the two here but people judge Heskey to be a poor player due to his lack of goals. Yes you would want more out of him but his time with Liverpool and England helped Owen be as prolific as he was then.
Also if these players are as bad as people say why would managers keep offerin them good money to play on the premier league.

Marco Verratti would be a super signing. Only 19 and able to attack and defend equally well. I’d love us to sign him and use him like Real/Spain do Alonso in a more defensive role alongside Tiote and allow Cabaye fully focus on CAM and then Marco could provide good passes, tackles and help Cabaye if needed to. Would love it if we got him.

Realistically i think we need 4 more players (not including reserves/development players such as Curtis Good) this summer. A RB, CB & CF are must signings and then we have a choice of signing a CM or a Wing Foward as it really depends on where we will use Marveaux predominantly next season.
My choices would be:
RB: Debuchy
CB: Sakho

RLW/Young CF: Hoilett
CF: Gameiro
We need a RB to upgrade for Simmo (who’s good but cannot attack and is a bit to mistake prone), CB to add more competition as Saylor is injury prone and Williamson is mistake prone + slow, the CF is needed to add competition up front and maybe a different dimension. I’d like us to sign both a CM and wing forward but it may prove difficult with the budget and prioritising of other positions. Personally i can see us using Marv in more of a central role next year so we may go for Hoilett but i’d love Verratti as well as he’s super.
Oh blow what i said above it’s silly season let’s get Debuchy, Sakho, Verratti, Gameiro, Hoilett and finally get this deal done for Messi that’s been pending for what seems years.

You are right, regards harrasment, however, as Indian’s new name only suggests that Indian ‘hates shola’, I don’t think that classes as harrassment or infringement in this case. A lot of bloggers would do well to heed your definition though (and I include myself in this!).

Lets not completely dismiss this one just yet; we were sceptical about Santon last year and that one seemed to work out ok for us.

PSG’s desire to let him go could be promising, but I’d be totally happy with Douglas.
Newcastle are not exactly a mess at the back anyway, Colo is a great captain back there and Williamson performed better than I thought he would, though you could argue he personally cost us a few points last season.

Williamson doesn’t have positional sense. If the ball goes above head height it’s like it has a gravitational pull to him and he is drawn to it. That’s great to have when the ball is around his area but when it’s in the centre of midfield and he goes charging to get it there’s a gap behind him and that is my fault with. He also makes me nervous with the ball at his feet

Gents, as soon as I read this article I got onto my French (soon to be) brother in law who is an avid PSG and French football fan.
The word on the rue (or street) is this;
Sakho is very good. He is young but used to be our captain before Ancelotti came on board last winter. Now he is on the bench but i don’t want Paris to sell him. He is a future star, very strong physically.
Now that makes me want this dude even more!!!
