Newcastle Goalkeeper Finally Joins Glasgow Celtic

Expected news this morning as 24 year old Fraser Forster has joined Celtic on a permanent basis, after spending the last two seasons on loan at the Scottish Champions.

Fraser Forster – finally joins Celtic

Newcastle are expected to receive £2M for Fraser, and it was clear he had no future at Newcastle, after 24 year-old Dutch International Tim Krul took over the goalkeeper jersey from Steve Harper last season, and was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Forster was born in Hexham and came through the ranks at Newcastle, and the 6’7″ goalkeeper seemed to take a little time before deciding to move north of the border.

The Scottish Premier League will suffer from not having Rangers in their ranks next season – so how many points will Celtic win the league by?

Forster joined Newcastle from the famous Walker Boys Club, and has the dubious distinction of never having played for the Newcastle first team in a competitive game.

But that’s because most of his time over the last four seasons has been spent on loan at Stockport County, Bristol Rovers, Norwich City and Celtic, where he amassed 144 first team games, with just over half of them being clean sheets.

We wish him all the best at Celtic.
