Newcastle Manager Straight Down To Business

It’s hardly surprising that Alan Pardew is looking forward to this season more than he ever has done, after the remarkable performance of his Newcastle team last season, when we finished 5th top and qualified for the Europa League and were in with a chance of the Champions league in the last game of the season.

Newcastle top three coaches – Stone, Carver and Pardew

We think the pre-season set of games is as follows,  but Newcastle have not announced all their pre-season games yet, so this list is not yet official, but it’s based on what other clubs have already announced:

DateTeamLocation
Fri 13 July KO 6;30 pm Chemnitzer FC - Lost 1-0Stadion an der Gellertstraße - Chermnitz, Germany
Mon 16 July KO 7:00 pm AS Monaco - Won 1-0Landsberg am Lech, Germany
Sat 21 July KO 7:30 pmFernerbahce - Drew 1-1 Sonnenseestadion, SC Ritzing, Austria
Fri 27 July KO 8:45 pmOlympiacos - Drew 1-1 4-4 on penalties Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 28 July KO 8:45 pmFC Braga - won 2-1 Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 4 August KO 5:00 pm Den Haag - Drew 0-0Kyocera Stadium, Den Haag
Tues 7 Aug KO 7:30 pmHartlepool - Won 5-1Victoria Park, Hartlepool
Sat 11 Aug 3:00 pmCardiff - Lost 4-1Cardiff City Stadium

Newcastle cannot play any of their pre-season fixtures at St. James’ Park,  because the ground is being used for the Olympics,  but the first game is at home against Tottenham Hotspur, now managed by former Chelsea and Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas.

That would be a good time to give Andre his first competitive loss at Spurs. 😀

Alan Pardew was as down to earth as ever this morning, and he had this to say to the local press:

“We’ve got plenty of time.”  “We’ve got to make sure we’re ready for Tottenham, and the sports science team are in charge of that.”

“Me and John Carver have to make sure the players, tactically and technically, know what we’re doing this season.”

“It was nice to see everyone again after the holidays. I’m looking forward to the first day.”

The reports from the Benton training ground this morning are that the lads are upbeat, with lots of smiles going around, as they start preparing for what hopefully will be another great season for Newcastle United.

But we still need to bring in about four new top players before September 1st, and keep the best players we already have at the club.

If we can do that, there must be every reason to believe that Newcastle can have another outstanding season.

Howay The Lads!!

I reckon we can beat Spurs, good side, but hopefully they won’t have jelled together into AVB’s ‘mould’. Hope he does a good job there, feel a bit sorry for the lad, and now hes got another crack at the prem. Plays nice football, but was very naive when in charge of Chelski.

I still see Spurs as a mid table club if I am honest. I’m not saying they are a bad side, but in North London, Spurs are to Arsenal, as Sunderland are to the Toon, living in the shadow of a giant.

Now that Pards is back behind his desk, the fun and games really begin.

Today is the official start of the 2012-2013 season! And I am sure our transfer presents are just around the corner.

perchinho – proves how much Parlour knows by the fact that he thinks they’ll get 25-30mill for RVP. He’s in alst year of his contract, Juve have bid 10mill euros, and it said they expect a bid of around 15mill euros to be accepted. As far as im concerned Wenger knew RVO wasnt staying and Podolski and Giroud were brough in ebcause of that, I dont see them spending big on another striker

Papiss won’t leave this season, its taboo to leave six months into your new career, it’l never happen. Doubt Demba will leave aswell, I really hope he hits the form he did last season, there were games where nobody went near him, he was a powerhouse with amazing finishing, and I am sure those days will come back. He needs to remind everyone how good a player he is.

Also for hose nitpickers out there deciphering Pardews ‘couple of players comment’ he said that last year we signed a ‘couple’ of players (5 in total I think) and this year we are looking to sign a couple.

When I say a couple it doesn’t specifically refer to 2 it is open to specualtion as to the exact amount, another way of saying several if you will. I expect Pards means the same.

One of the benefits of living in Singapore Footballwise is that we have every game televised.

Around 7-8 channels dedicated solely to BPL matches

I have to laugh at Leon Best complaining. He didnt get a game because he is a shit player. And before anybody argues with that statement just remember how bad we were in the games when he played. He misses loads of chances. Look at when we play the ball to cisse and ba, they control it. It just bounces off Best. He offers no movement either. You don’t see any decent teams coming in for him, even for a low amount like £3m. He is a championship player.

Same with Guthrie. He played well in a lot of games but long term isnt good enough. Look how bad he was in a couple of games at end of season. One in particular I remember he couldnt even pass the ball 10 feet a few times. Again you never hear of any decent teams trying to sign him.

The people at NUFC know exactly what they are doing.

One thing that I do find strange is them offering Simpson a new contract because he isnt good enough either. But then again it is too low for what he wants so it is clear that he is going to be a back up player.

Things are going so well. They know what it takes to be a success.

Also I know somebody over there who wont give anything away but tells me they are very concerned about having 8 extra games before xmas and are doing everything they can to get more players in.

    Revelation.

Newcastles fitness team have been busy the past 3 days awarding the fitness of 30 players.

Today they are in meeting all day so are only free to do medicaid tomorrow.

I reckon a couple of players will be seen at Benton in the morning.

Davy – I’m told one big signing in, and possibly one first teamer leaving. But don’t worry, it’s not one of the ‘blue chip’ boys, and is only in the early stages, may not even happen. Both transfers are for the same position.

Jesper – no mate, I haven’t. On a different subject, funny how we can’t move our fixtures, unlike certain other clubs. We now play in Europa qualifier on Thursday 23rd August and have to play Chelsea on 25th for the TV cameras.
