Gael Bigirimana Joins Newcastle – It’s Official

Newcastle United have just confirmed the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Gael Bigirimana from Coventry City.

Gael Bigirimana – has signed on from Coventry City – a happy lad!

There had been news last night and early this morning that the 18 year-old was in Newcastle having his medical, and the Newcastle web-site have just posted the great news.

The Burundian-born youngster has signed a five-year contract on Tyneside, after Newcastle were able to agree an undisclosed fee with the Sky Blues. There were lots of clubs after the youngster, so this is a bit of a coup for the club.

Gail  was born in Burundia, and moved with his mother in 2004 to England, having also spent some time living in Uganda, and last season he won the Championship Apprentice of the Season award, and he’s a top young talent in England.

Bigirimana played 26 times in the Championship last season for Coventry and has been with the Sky Blues since 2004.

As expected he will be part of  Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley’s Development Squad, at least at the beginning of his Tyneside career, and will be given ample time to settle at Newcastle.

We warmly welcome Gail to Newcastle, and just cannot wait to see this lad play.

This is excellent news for Newcastle fans.

Comments welcome.

When I saw him on tv thought it was Tiote at first glance. Hope he turns out to be like him

Well done. Hopefully it will prove an astute signing. The ald has a brilliant story. He is very religious so maybe can accompany the Ameobi’s to church.

Lets just hope Newcastle can handle this guys development right and he doesnt get lost in the “machine” of a big club.

If he isnt going to be around the first team like Vuckic last season then I say loan him back out to Championship for a full season. The lad has lots of promise but if he sticks to playing reserve games then i worry it will be stunted.

Hopefully he can be the next Tiote and Abeid can be the next Cabaye.

How come it’s been 10 minutes since it’s announcement and there hasn’t been any negativity?

    Ok I’ll start it.

Where is an experienced player? This isn’t value for money! Leon Best = £3 million this guy = £1.50 so ashley pockets again. Were going to finish bottom of the leauge. We are not going to sign anyone else, Pardew said a couple And we’ve got amashitano and this dude.

    Does that cover it?

What I like about this guy is that it wouldve been easy for him after playing in nearly 30 games last season to have wanted first team football but the fact he is going into the development squad speaks volumes for his mentality and tue fact he wants to learn and grow as a footballer.

I’m sure alongside abied, Vuckic, Streete, Richardson etc… He will for a spine of a great future at nufc!

Brilliant signing according to my friends who support Coventry, probably not good enough to play prem yet…..maybe loan back or to a championship side?

We need now to add to our first team…..Debuchy, DeJong, Douglas, (a winger), (a CM).

2 players through the door but feel both are for the future and not so much this season.

We seem to have a wealth of youth though which is good…..the new Arsenal maybe?

Ferguson, Richardson, Tavenier, Abeid, Vuckic, Sa Ameobi, Streete, Bigirimana.

So many more under the age of 25, the futures bright….the futures black and white!!! (Cheeessy)

What about Gabby Agbonlahor from Villa? He’s not an out & out striker like Cisse but with his lightning pase would be really suited to the left side role of a 4-3-3 formation.
Cant imagine he would be too expensive and would help with fulfilling the home based players quota.

We now IMO have Biggy, Sammi, Mehdi, Vucki and Tavi who could become potentially decent to super premier league players, things are good behind the scenes, maybe even Gangster Nile might pull himself together and become a footballer, boy has talent.

he’ll need it with a name like that
just to fit his name on his shirt!
