Newcastle Waiting Contact From Lille On Latest Debuchy Bid

Newcastle brought in 18 year-old Gael Bigirimana from Coventry yesterday for a fee believed to rise to £1M, and it looks a good signing by Newcastle, for a top young holding midfielder who used to play center-back,  and maybe the next player through the door will be French right-back Mathieu Debuchy?

Mathieu Debuchy – top Newcastle full back target

Mathieu has been off for a little break since he finished playing for France in the Euro 2012 tournament, when the  Les Bleus were defeated 2-0 in the quarter finals by eventual winners Spain.

And the news is that Mathieu will meet with Lille officials over the weekend, in an attempt to get his future sorted out.

We’ve been told, via the news in the papers, that Newcastle have so far lodged two bids, the first one for £4M and the second one for £6M, but we wonder if that second bid has actually been made?

And some news suggest that Lille want £6M for their star right back, who has played well for the French club for the past eight seasons, and has been a loyal and good player for them.

Because of that,  it is thought that Lille may not haggle with the transfer fee – well not too much anyway – and we think £6M would still be a good deal for Newcastle.

But if Lille follow the lead of FC Twente, and ask for silly money for their player, then Newcastle may well pull out of this deal too.

And we cannot help but think that both clubs have already been on the short end of the stick with Newcastle in the transfer market – Twente lost Cheick Tiote  for £3.5M two years ago, and Newcastle got top midfielder Yohan Cabe for just over £4M from Lille last summer.

So that’s one reason both selling clubs will try to get a much out of Newcastle as they can, but it seems that Debuchy is very keen to join his friend Yohan Cabaye on Tyenside, and that should help a lot.

We hope that the deal can be signed, sealed and delivered – and the sooner the better.

What do you think?

14M for De Jong and 6M for Debuchy would be good business IMO!!!

No more than that- as Mr Carr will be able to find hidden gems for half that price elsewhere who will be just as good i believe.

    In Carr we Trust

Its an interesting point you make Ed. Do the owners of these clubs feel we should be paying a good price this time round considering we got such a steal in our last transfer dealings.

I think there could be some truth in that where Twente are concerned, I got that impression from a lot the articles I read about the deal for De Jong.

Lille seem to be a lot more reasonable though. To be fair all they have asked is that they can find a replacement before letting matheau go. 6-7m sounds like the right price to me and more good business for everyone involved.

    Toon Tom –
why would £20 millioin for De Jong and Debuchy be good business if, as you say, Carr can find some gems just as good for half the price?

If Debuchy arrives and If Ba stays I don’t think its essential that we make anymore first team signings this window.

“Undeservedly” With your abusive altermative names?
And I don’t think “Shola Hater” was the only one. Come clean – there was another.

You justified it as a joke because you admitted it was you – but you didn’t admit to it until AFTER you had received a series of neg comments.

If we sign this guy and he settles quickly, we are going to be deadly attacking from full back on both flanks.

They know Debuchy want to come and we want him too so Lille want as much as money they can from us. Same old business.

The good point from this story is we’re clever enough to avoid their game. No disrespect for Lille and Twente, They have their wanted price and we’re ready for offer too but in reasonable price not stupid money they want.

Not really so relevant even if Indian did ‘come clean’ right away.

The name “Shola Hater” continued for a while, and not everyone sees every single post, so would not have picked up the “admission”.

If you were to be the first poster, and said
“Aam forst, man” – you may raise a laugh.
(unless you also post a link to another of your articles)
(and assuming you haven’t posted first even before you have read the article.

You have a longish track record – you can’t turn that around in a few days.
You were doing OK – until your Shola Hater trick.

Cabaye and Tiote are world class. I’m expecting more from them this season, more goals and assist. 🙂
I might be getting ahead of my self but we are going to have a great season. I can feel it, maybe even some silverware.

Cant see all the fuss over this guy his defending is shady at best we have 5 players on the books who can play RB including Santon who was purchased to play RB were crying out for a LB and were chasing RB’s we are not over flowing with cash so you ud think the money would be spent wisely.

no matter the price of de jong we should get him hes the next star of the future and would be amazing for the toon plus in the next few years teams like man city, barcelona or madrid would pay at least over 40 to 50 mill for the striker, oh and its nice to meet all this is mt first time.

I would go upto 7m max wouldnt play ball with Lyon! would be a great purchase but we should keep our business heads on! has done wonders for us so far! if paying big bucks i would prefer the player to have a big potential sell on fee! cant see Debuchys sell on fee increasing unless we sell within 24 months of purchase.

As for De Jong no way should we pay silly bucks for him! we refused to pay out for Cisse last summer when they requested 15m… and look how that turned out got him for little over 8m 6 months later!

hardly proven having only played in Dutch league and not perticularly made it yet at international stage! Guidetti has just as much promise for me!

    @Grafton83

CB is our biggest priority I would say even more than RB because we could just keep Simpson and let him go next season, if we get 1 injury in CB we are not in a good position, if we get 2 injuries we are f****d.

I read that Lille want 8 million not 6, if thats the case then it is a problem. Also I feel like they are talking a lot of crap since they say they wont sell him until they have a replacement, well they have know for quite a while he might leave this summer so it is very lazy from them not to have lined up a replacement for him already if they will not sell him unless there is a replacement.
