The Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has let the fans know that he’s doing everything he can to keep Demba Ba at Newcastle.
Demba Ba – in action last season
We have to think that Alan has already had a quiet talk with the 27 year-old Senegal International, to see whether he’s thinking about leaving the club this summer, and quite honestly Demba Ba should let Newcastle know what his intentions are, and as soon as possible.
That’s because if he wants to leave then he should move on, but it will mean that Alan Pardew and the Newcastle Board will need to bring not one, which is the current plan, but two extra strikers in this summer.
We were hoping to hear something more official on the status of Demba Ba, after pre-season started up last Thursday, but nothing yet.
But at least the Newcastle manager seems to be doing his level best to keep the Senegal striker at Newcastle, and you cannot ask much more than that.
This is what Alan said today:
“I want Demba to stay.” “He’s a Newcastle player and all I’m focusing on is making sure he’s a Newcastle player next season.”
Demba Ba was great last season, smashing in 16 goals in by February, and even though the goals dried up after that, he still played well, and helped to ensure that his Senegal strike partner Papiss Cisse scored the goals – 13 goals in just 14 appearances to be exact.
And there’s now only 23 days to go before that release clause of £7M in his contract expires, and then we can all breath just a little bit easier – assuming he’s still at Newcastle on August 1st.
We hope Demba Ba stays at on Tyneside next season, and we’d love to hear him say that’s what he wants to do.
What do you think about this?

I’m not sure if this was in one of the independent articles AP had or in an interview, but he said that he would like his team to play a lot more like Spain and retain the ball allot better than what we had done.
He also added that if u got players at the back who are not comfortable playing it forward, then u have to play to their strengths or avoid their weaknesses, so they kick it upwards instead.
It’s basically what i assumed all last season, it was only players like Simmo, Krul and Willo who did the hoofballing. So we’re looking at better technical players who can play it out.
But AP has to sort out Kruls distribution, cause thats horrible.

I do think that for a 4-2-3-1 to work we might have to invest in another winger, as I can see HBA being earmarked for the No 10 role that Pards said ages ago and put Marveaux on the left with a new winger on the right, or maybe Obertan can step up to the plate? I think it will be a defining season for the young lad and this season he has to earn his stripes.

Comment #87I think we have to go for 3 in midfield.
Pardew talked about ‘controlling’ the game all last season and we did it in about 3 matches. We have the quality to retain possession throughout the team apart from Simmo and Willo so it’s understandable as to why Pards is looking to another RB and CB.
However I think the problem is more than these 2 and a lot is to do with formation. We need a 3rd man in there to keep the ball and distribute. With 4-4-2 last year too many times Cabaye and Tiote were outnumbered and ineffective. So we need a 3rd midfielder as much as we need a RB/CB.
What kind of CM would you guys like? Another DM like Matuidi, a creative CM like Elm, an AM like Feghouli or a box to box CM like Wanyama?

Comment #88People come on here and forget what players we have in are squad. marveaux who is gona be really good if he stays fit.Jonas who was imo the hardest working lw/lwb in the league for 2 years running an in every team i have seen posted people like that have been left out.

I think that is what is halting Krul from becoming a world class GK and if we sorted that then we would have a much better shout of being the team that Pards wants us to be. I agree with you totally and was aware that it was the lack of technical ability of Simmo and Willo that led to the long ball passing, which is to be expected of them, better doing that than dallying on the ball at the expense of a goal. So we definitely need to upgrade RB and CB as even Taylor isn’t the best with a ball at his feet.

I understand what you’re saying about Guti, in my opinion Marv will be a big part of the team if he can stay fit but although Guti is hard working I just don’t think he has the technical ability to take us to the next level, but he is a superb lad to have around the squad to make an impact in the latter stages of games.

I reckon we’ll continue the 4-3-3 formation. It should be enough to bring in only 1 striker that way. I don’t expect to see Cisse and Ba together up top again. HBA, Marveux, Obertan, Jonas, Sammy are all capable of playing alongside a striker in a 4-3-3 formation.
In a tough match it’ll be easy to revert to 4-5-1 aswell, should we get overrun in the middle or passed on the wings.
I reckon we need another DM, so Vurnon could be a good option for us, and now we have Gael to push them aswell.
It could be AP has changed his mind about Abeid, and sees him more as a distributor rather than a holding DM like Tiote.
Will be interesting to see, but i expect us to keep it along the ground allot more than last season.

Comment #95Apparently Senestien Corchia is being lined up as Debuchys replacement but too be honest I’m surprised we haven’t been linked to him.
21 years old, cheaper and potentially a bigger resale value. Apparently he was fantastic in ligue 1 last season.
Obviously Debuchy is the finished article and Canayes mate but I’d think if we don’t get him we may move for this lad?!

Helllllssss Yeah!!! 😀
@Dannyo
You could be right on that score, I do think that Pards is aware that just keeping 2 in the middle of the park might not particularly work but the 4-2-3-1 is easily mixed with a 4-5-1 and a 4-3-3 as well. If he wants to play the Spain or Barca way then he will know that they do not play to any strict formations, the beauty of their play is that it is so adaptable and malleable to match conditions. So as you, if the midfield is overrun then easy swift changes can be made.
What we need is a team that is confident and comfortable on the ball and in possession that they can be brave enough to play this way. Pards does want us to play a certain system and has admitted that he has not been able to play the football that he’s wanted to, but the football we were playing towards the end of last season was mouth watering. I think the days of 4-4-2 are behind us…

I think Debuchy is being purchased for RM and as cover for RB.
Expect Jonas to play as a first choice FB this season either RB or LB hence Pards suggesting Santon may also play as RB or LB.

Comment #102You do realise if we could play just 75% of how Spain/Barca play we could
Dominate the PL.
Look at Swansea. If they knew how to attack they could’ve won the league based on possession. We’ve got most of the ingredients but we’d have to buy some imcredible talent.
Id love to see us dominate teams next year and score more in games and have the belief to fight back in matches.
That to me would be massive progression.

Comment #107Don’t know why everyone is so worried. If he leaves it will purely be of his own accord considering the clause he has in his contract, if that is the case then it will be because he has wanted to leave.
We would get 7 mill, not great but what can ya do. We would then be ramping up our efforts to bring in another CF and we would no doubt bring in a cracking youngster or a bargain buy. If he stays then happy days 😀

Comment #113If demba was to leave, would you replace him with a left winger, striker or both? I think we’d need both, we’d need someone to play in his position (assuming we play 433) but we’d also need another 16 goals from someone. As much as i love cisse he surely won’t be able to score 30 will he?

Comment #114Hoilett is our man, I firmly believe this!
Stealing an already 10m+ player for a couple of million, has shades of the Cabaye move! Will only improve alongside our roster and increase in value as a result. Can play ST and winger and with the likelihood that Ba and Cisse will be with us for the entire season, I think that’ll do us in the forward positions.
Yeah I’ve convinced myself, we’re getting Hoilett! GET IN!

Comment #120I’m confident Ba will stay. I anticipate we will bring in another ST in the £7M range and a creative attacker of the CAM/CF/LW variety in the (£6/7M). I have reason to believe Douglas (£5m) and Debuchy (£7M) are locks as well. I wouldn’t expect too much more in terms of 1st team, but with this I will be pleased and confident in our ability to challenge for the CL. (this would talley our £20M plus the sales of Forster and Best.)
