Newcastle Target Now Has Price Tag Of £8M

News today that one of Newcastle’s transfer targets, Vurnon Anita of Ajax, seems to have had a price tag of £8M put on him by his Dutch club.

Vurnon Anita – price up to £8M

Newcastle are said to have bid €5M for him, which is around £4M, so basically Ajax are asking twice that for their player, and if they will not budge on that fee, we don’t Newcastle will stay interested too long.

And Newcastle are now seemingly paying for their success in the transfer market over the last couple of years, by clubs wanting more money from Newcastle, a lopt more money.

And as we reported earlier today, we don’t think  Newcastle will budge from their transfer policy of wanting good value for money, as the number one priority.

FC Twente are still probably smarting form letting Cheick Tiote join Newcastle for a measly £3.5M, and they now want a massive £16M for their star striker Luuk de Jong, and Newcastle have simply walked way from that deal, after bidding a good £11M.

Anita has now apparently held talks over his future with Ajax, and it’s obvious he would just love to join Newcastle, but he is now back in training with Ajax.

It seems that Ajax are very keen for Newcastle to come back in for Vurnon with an increased bid, but it’s not clear if Newcastle will do that, although Sunderland are said to be interested in the player, and maybe they will be willing to pay over the odds to get him.

Anita had this to say from Holland today:

“I am going to seriously consider any interest and will discuss it with my parents. The Premier League is a top competition where I would want to play.”

“Ajax say they won’t let me go, and I’m tied up here until 2014. It would be no punishment to stay, but you never know.”

It remains to be seen if Newcastle will bid for the player, but even if they do, it’s unlikely to be anytime soon, as Newcastle’s number one priority right now is to try to get a certain Mathieu Debuchy to Tyneside.

    £ 8 mil hmm…guess he’s staying at Ajax.

The Dutch really know how to overprice a player!

…do they pay overprice as well 😉 guess they are just better at stealing young talent away. Kudos for that – maybe we could learn a bit lol

What clubs asks for is often different is often they get. Nobody knows for sure how much we bid of anything at all.

To improve the team though we will need to be shopping in the 8-10 million range unless we are planning on just getting youngsters

Bigirimana, Amalfitano and Vucic have no or little Premier League experience. Taylor is a right back. So that leave us with Cabaye, Perch and Tiote. Tiote will be off to the ACN. so one or two injuries and we are screwed. We need bodies throught the door. Anita, although young, has experience in the top flight of the Dutch league and also CL games too.

How is this window becoming a nightmare?! Just because of all the rubbish reported in the press hasn’t come off doesn’t mean it’s not going well behind the scenes?

Ba, Tiote, Cisse, Santon, Marveaux etc were all kept on the DL… Let’s just chill my friends and judge on the 1st September, though I know it’s easy to panick! 😉

I disagree mate; I think we need to be looing at how other teams does that don’t have that spending prower, but seems to do better than us both in their native league and in Europe.

Take a look a Ajax’s team; probably better than ours and was much cheaper to build. We don’t need to be buying 8-10 mil players unless they can change the outcome of a game such as Papisto.

Let’s be geared up for a disastrous transfer Window.

I don’t think our management had this in plan. I think they wanted their targets to arrive before pre season to gel into the team. Our preseason is already underway and no new signings looks to be on the horizon.

Outgoings have been our good point.

I just think we always gamble on targets becoming available.

We play the waiting game, see who the big boys buy and try to sneak in with our tranfers.

I’d be amazed if we actually bid £11 million for De Jong. That reaked of jounro fantasy.

There has been a little bit of movement but nothing on the scale that we all thought, and I am talking generally accross the whole of football.

I am as worried as anyone but I don’t doubt that we’ll make some serios movement in the near future.

It happens every year with us. We are the most dedicated fnas, the ones who spend hours trawling thorugh websites, reading blogs and news articles. It is easy for newspapers to create traffic to their sites when you link a player with nufc.

It’s our biggest strength and number 1 weakness.

The ony thindg that annoys me is that we are always guessing with our club, what our intentions are. We dont know what the target will be, we dont know what transfer funds we have, how many players we are looking for and if Ashley will give us some money to spend.

Pardew calls for transparency and the only thing transparent so far is that we are danger of falling flat in this window.

We don’t need *insert players name* for that price anyway we could get 20 better options for less than that. In fact we don’t need any players we can get CL with no investment and rely on the kids

    @ jesper, from previous post…
AFC Wimbledon is a professional English football club based in Kingston upon Thames, Greater London. The club currently play in League Two of the Football League, which is the fourth tier of English football. They play at Kingsmeadow, a ground which is shared with Kingstonian.

The club was founded in 2002 as a result of Wimbledon F.C.’s relocation to Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire; Wimbledon F.C. was subsequently renamed Milton Keynes Dons. The Wimbledon supporters who strongly opposed this move reacted by founding their own club, AFC Wimbledon. In view of its transplanting to Milton Keynes, a large majority of Wimbledon fans felt that the original club no longer represented Wimbledon’s legacy and traditions,[1] and thus withdrew their support, choosing instead to start a new so-called “phoenix club” from scratch.

From The Telegraph, Wednesday 4th July:

Managing Director Derek Llambias travelled to South America last week where he is understood to have been trying to set up a deal for two young players from Argentina to join compatriots Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez on Tyneside.

I think this could be Facundo Ferreya (CF) and Nicolas Tagliafico (LB) from Banfield in Argentina. The club has been relegated from the Argentine premier division, so they could be a cheap purchase. Facundo was apparently scouted last year and Tagliafico seems to have an impressive reputation for a position we don’t have much options in.

Anyway like Beattie states above i am no more than guessing to pass the time before an actual signing happens.

    Dutch “trader” club…

    1. bid: Newcastle offered ?4m, and Ajax want ?8m.

    Next steps:

    2. bid: Newcastle offer ?5m, and Ajax want ?7m.

    3. bid: Newcastle offer ?5.5m, and Ajax want ?6.5m.

final bid: Newcastle offer ?6m and Ajax accept it.

It’s so simple. Their blood is the deal and Ashley can get them what they want 🙂

I think Anita is a very good defensive player (RB, CB, DM), better than Simmo or Willo.

i couldnt care less if we get Anita or not but man i’m sick of these clubs & there inflated bloody prices! I’m starting to get desperate for a proper signing! We need that last back up CB sorted 1st IMO & then Clyne (i think we will get priced out of Debuchy deal in the end)& then an improvement on Besty. it doesn’t have to be a £16m Luuk De Jong type it could be a £5-7m youngster who scores more goals & has more pace than Besty just as long as he’s an improvement! Also it would do us any harm to get a real left footed LB if there’s any dough left.

Don’t know anythin about Anita, but this is how I see it.

With Tiote costing us £ 3.5 mil and Cabaye costing us £ 4.5 mil. Who ever we bring in to fight it out in midfield will not cost more than £ 5 mil unless they are a certain starter.

Would Anita be a certain starter in a 4-3-3?

For all we know, we’ve never even bid for De Jong, Debuchy, Anita, Douglas, etc etc etc.

Have you all forgotten the last few transfer windows? They’ve had us signing Carroll back, a 32 year old Keita, and other such nonsense.

How will the players you mentioned ever get top flight experience if we’re consistently bring players in infront of them?

Our interest in Anita surely 100% ended when we signed Bigirimana.

That’s what I have been saying all along….and in any case for the young guns to get any playing time we don’t really new more than a first team 22-23 players; 2 for every position. The rest to be filled up by the youngsters 🙂

You wont know who we have been trying to sign untill we sign them and you have and will never have any real idea about how hard our board is trying to bring players in
