Newcastle To Play Fenerbahce On July 21st

10:02 am, Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 124 Comments

One of our readers Jonny Ward, pointed us yesterday to the ESPN schedule of games they will be televising in July, and would you believe it, they have scheduled Newcastle vs Fenerbahce on July 21st – a week on Saturday.

If you look at the ESPN schedule for July 21st, you will see the Newcastle vs Fenerbahce game and it kicks off at 18:00 UK time.

This is the schedule we think Newcastle have, although not all games have been announced by Newcastle, but they have been announced at least by the opposing clubs.

Date TeamLocation
Fri 13 July KO 6;30 pm Chemnitzer FC - Lost 1-0Stadion an der Gellertstraße - Chermnitz, Germany
Mon 16 July KO 7:00 pm AS Monaco - Won 1-0Landsberg am Lech, Germany
Sat 21 July KO 7:30 pmFernerbahce - Drew 1-1 Sonnenseestadion, SC Ritzing, Austria
Fri 27 July KO 8:45 pmOlympiacos - Drew 1-1 4-4 on penalties Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 28 July KO 8:45 pmFC Braga - won 2-1 Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 4 August KO 5:00 pm Den Haag - Drew 0-0Kyocera Stadium, Den Haag
Tues 7 Aug KO 7:30 pmHartlepool - Won 5-1Victoria Park, Hartlepool
Sat 11 Aug 3:00 pmCardiff - Lost 4-1Cardiff City Stadium

On July 2nd we did report there were rumors that Newcastle would be playing Fenerbahce in pre-season, and at that time there were reports of the game with Fenerbahce and that another possible match would be with with Polish side Wisla Krakow – and both games would be played in Vienna, the capital of Austria.

We’ve put the Fenerbahce game in, and assume it will be played in Austria.

With Newcastle’s first pre-season game being on Friday in Germany against Chemnitzer FC, we would expect the club to announce their pre-season schedule very shortly, but we’ve been saying that for a couple of weeks now, and there has been no time for Newcastle fans to arrange their travel to the games.

Comments welcome.

I hope we buck up and bring in the 3 – 4 first teamers we desperately need!
I can sense a hugely underwhelming season whereby we have mediocre Europa and cup runs, and then finish arround 8 – 10th in the league. I’d be hugely disappointed with that, but I can see it coming. Obviously I hope I’m wrong, we need to be improving on the platform we gave ourselves last season.

Where are the signings we so desperately need.

    ESPN are guessing, I think.
They could be right but they are not ITK

  • 5 ilovetoon8788 // Jul 11, 2012 at 10:09 AM

With the additional games, we need more bodies. Or we are going to struggle in the league because we don’t have depth in quality. All we have are potential players. Not enough.

  • 6 Dannyo // Jul 11, 2012 at 10:13 AM

    @ilovetoon
The window opened 11 days ago for us. Keep your boxers on, no one wants to see your willy.
We have over a month left of the window.
We can move fast if we have to, but will take our time if we can.
Just gonna have to get used to it.

  • 7 one Tony Green // Jul 11, 2012 at 10:22 AM

Have to agree with Dannyo early days. Also we have to start using Vukic Sammt A Brad Inman and other younger players. Lets see what they can do

Damn Dannyo has gone in with a beauty there.

My 6 day reign of ‘ibizas quote of the morning’ is under threat, i must summon the power of grey skull and beat Dannyo.

Hey guys why don’t you chill out, don’t get your knickers in a twist beacaue that can cut of circulation to your legs. In turn this could increase your heart rate significantly increasing your chances of coronary disease or even limb amputation in later life.

Shola scores 15 goals during the first half of next season?

  • 26 MagpiesFlyHigh // Jul 11, 2012 at 10:57 AM

Have we signed anybody yet or can I go back to work ?
All this speculation is very time consuming.

Has Indian discovered sarcasm – be very unusual for someone with an economics degree

  • 27 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 10:57 AM

OMG OMG OMG!!!! No clear first teamers transferred yet!!! WE GONNA BURN!! RELEGATION AWAITS!!! … you heard it here first people…haha… But seriously now, some of you need to chill out. There’s a lot of time till the window closes and for all we know AP might be assessing the progress of the younger players as they have begun training and considering which if any are capable of making the step up to the first team. Would seem reasonable to me to try and fill in the gap with your own youth players first and only buying where its actually necessary. Otherwise why have a youth squad at all?!?!

  • 28 Dimitri // Jul 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM

I distinctively remember Sir Bobby warning the Premiership and stated that he’s got a future WORLD CLASS player in his hands when Shola burst, I mean pop into the scene with his first goal against Coventry City in 99/00.

  • 31 Tommyy // Jul 11, 2012 at 11:03 AM

Wow a blog full of illiterates, bar one or two. I’m not saying immediately, what I am saying is I think we will only get 2 maximum. Which, to me isn’t enough to sustain us for this coming season.
What has happened to freedom of opinion? Seems someone comes on with a concerning view and immediately gets bazooka’d as a result. Nice way to monopolise a blog chaps, maybe that’s why so many have left.
    Peace out blog monitors.

  • 32 Beattie25 // Jul 11, 2012 at 11:03 AM

Earlier some blogger mentioned that Del Biy and Charnley stein Norway and nobody batted an eyelid.

Who said at that and how do you know??

  • 33 Dimitri // Jul 11, 2012 at 11:05 AM

I thought to myself, the man who discovered Ronaldo and Van Nistelrooy couldn’t be wrong.. Then I witness Shola missed an open goal from 10 inches against Man Utd in a 1-1 draw when Stephan Glass scored.

  • 34 jayphoto // Jul 11, 2012 at 11:08 AM

would happily let cabaye go to barcelona for 8m, providing they send Thiago, Deulofeu and Montoya the other way carrying that 8m with them! Shocking price! I remember when he was at Lille, they quoted a premier league team (i think it was villa under houllier) 15m for him, and hes a lot better player whos had a lot more exposure now! if modric is worth 40m, cabaye has to be 25m minimum!

Valci….Indeed. You shall be appointed award worthy phrase scout. Welcome to the team (of 2 :) )

Tommyy…Would you care to name and shame? Opinion is encouraged and so is debate. It may be the case that more than one other blogger disagrees, is this a mob mentality?

There are times when disagreements turn in to attacks and there really is no need. We all come from different places and backgrounds and should all be allowed the same platform to share our views, just as we should all expect a response if someone does or doesn’t agree.

If someone feels they’re being unfairly treated, say so. Try and put your point across another way. It’s no one way street.

lol Beardo – as you can see it has started. Very astute of you.

  • 99 jayphoto // Jul 11, 2012 at 12:48 PM

honestly I think Debuchy would be a massive upgrade on our current right back situation! But with Santon saying he will be right back next season I don’t think he was ever a target! I think someone like Cissokho, or M’Bengue for left back will be brought in! I will say about Debuchy though, he’s not the quickest, for Lille he was defensively sound but for France he got caught out when playing against quick wingers!

Lets not jump the gun here, Debuchy was France’s first choice Right Back, anybody who doesnt rate the lad is a complete tube. We should have just paid the money and got him, some of this penny pinching goes a bit far.

Dannyo – papertalk, its on a par with our Daily Star i bet.

  • 104 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 12:53 PM

check the toastie – he was actually second choice. 1st choice got injured.

  • 105 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 12:56 PM

i belive Sagna would have been ahead of Debuchy. Thats what i meant.

    Re : Debuchy

another one bites the dust ?

at least we’ll get a lot of youngsters in … but you’ll never won anything with kids..

  • 109 check the toastie // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM

Valci – so knowledgable, i appreciate that, but good point scoring non the less. You have proved you are considerably more cleverer than meeeee. well done give yourself a pat on the back. Maybe you should of assumed i also have a brain.

  • 110 Phatoon // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:00 PM

Here is a translation of that picture about Debuchy:

“Debuchy Matthew, 26, International Right Side of Lille, covets including Inter Milan, will not leave the North this summer. Northerner’s leader’s convinced him to stay an extra season.”

  • 111 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:01 PM

So…what system do you guys think we will play next year?? Or what system would you like us to play? Personally i think we’ll stay with 4-3-3 though i think our players are better suited for 4-2-3-1 allowing Cabaye to play behind the striker. Maybe AP will pleasantly surprise me who know. Just food for thought cause i’m bored i guess…

    Cheik

So is Barnetta serving him coffee ?

  • 113 Phatoon // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:02 PM

Pinch of salt obviously, is about as reliable as all the rumours about us signing 1500 new players in the last season….

  • 114 check the toastie // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:03 PM

We need Debuchy, he was Pardews number one target me thinks, even as good as said so on Local Radio. This isnt going well so far. Hope we dont think that offering Simpson an improved contract is any sort of solution. Please Please Please Please dont let it happen Del Boy.

    Cheik

Valci has an economics degree – so does that make him cleverer than you ?

  • 116 Peter // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:04 PM

    valci
i think 4-3-3 is our best formation at the moment but i have this weird feeling that pardew will play safe in europe and revert to 4-4-2 but if the 2 upfront is demba ba and cisse maybe it wont be such a bad thing

  • 117 MagpiesFlyHigh // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:04 PM

off to work ….. but I expect to see the ink drying on Messi’s Toon transfer on the 6 o’clock news

  • 118 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:05 PM

check the toastie – dude, thats quite the backlash there. Way to take it personally… I was simply pointing out that Debuchy was not in fact 1st choice is all since thats what you said. Had you been clearer in your statement the misunderstanding would have been avoided. Chillax….sheesh…

  • 119 check the toastie // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:07 PM

Magpies, reckon he’s tucking into a Mal Burger as we speak, Pardew’s just taking care of the receptionists in the Ark Royal Suite and will be down to finialise things about twoish, thats straight from a Club Insider.

  • 120 check the toastie // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:08 PM

Valci, just a little bit of nasty crack, keeps me sane. apologies for any offence, however it was intended.

  • 121 jesperfuglsang // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:12 PM

    Ibiza

you may pass along the family name ;) (re. post #93)

  • 122 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:14 PM

Peter – personally i wouldn’t play Ba on the wing again. If we get someone like Hoilett maybe. Excluding any possible transfer here i’d probably pull Jonas back with Tiote and play Marveaux Cabaye and Benny behind the striker. Like i said…just a thought.

  • 123 Valci // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:16 PM

check the toastie – good thing i have thick skin then ;)

  • 124 OoAhDembaBa // Jul 11, 2012 at 1:16 PM

I think clyne will be coming in, instead of debuchy
