Newcastle Announce Six Games For Pre-Season

3:07 pm, Thursday, July 12th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 203 Comments

Newcastle have finally announced their pre-season schedule, which sees them playing six games, before the season starts against Tottenham at St. James’ Park on 18th August.

Here is the official list of pre-season games that Newcastle have just announced.

Date TeamLocation
Fri 13 July KO 6;30 pm Chemnitzer FC - Lost 1-0Stadion an der Gellertstraße - Chermnitz, Germany
Mon 16 July KO 7:00 pm AS Monaco - Won 1-0Landsberg am Lech, Germany
Sat 21 July KO 7:30 pmFernerbahce - Drew 1-1 Sonnenseestadion, SC Ritzing, Austria
Fri 27 July KO 8:45 pmOlympiacos - Drew 1-1 4-4 on penalties Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 28 July KO 8:45 pmFC Braga - won 2-1 Algarve Stadium, Faro, Portugal
Sat 4 August KO 5:00 pm Den Haag - Drew 0-0Kyocera Stadium, Den Haag
Tues 7 Aug KO 7:30 pmHartlepool - Won 5-1Victoria Park, Hartlepool
Sat 11 Aug 3:00 pmCardiff - Lost 4-1Cardiff City Stadium

There is  definitely a game also scheduled at the International Stadium against Gateshead on Wednesday, 1st August, but  Newcastle will send a Development eleven to that game.

And the game that was supposed to be arranged in August against ADO Den Haag in Holland, Tim Krul’s former club, doesn’t show up in the schedule.

The Newcastle first team squad will leave this afternoon from Newcastle Airport and spend nine days in Germany and Hungary, playing three friendly games that  have been widely reported in the press, and are detailed above.

The club is saying that because of the cancellation of the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa, Newcastle had to scramble to arrange alternative friendly games, and they seem to have done a good job.

That’s bad news for Newcastle’s South African fans, who were looking forward to the club visiting South Africa.

Later in July, Newcastle will have a second mini-trip and travel to Portugal to compete in the Guadiana Torneo, in the Algarve Stadium in Southern Portugal, near Faro.

And as we reported a few days ago, FC Porto have been replaced by SC Braga in the game on Saturday, 28th July.

That’s who former Newcastle midfielder Hugo Viana currently plays for, and the games in Portugal have an 8:45 pm KO time.

It looks a very decent pre-season schedule with some good games arranged.

Comments welcome.

Looks like a decent line-up. Hope we can bring in some players before the end of this run of games to help them settle into the squad. Otherwise the games against Spurs and Chelsea could end up being a bit of a baptism of fire. Really looking forward to seeing the matches in the next week or so. I’ve been suffering from football withdrawal since the end of the Euros.

Just posted a new article up on my blog if you guys want to check it out. You can find it here:

    Cheers!

Some really uninspiring games there, dont know why we just dont play local teams, as if paying european teams in august will bare any relevance once we embark on the Europa league properly. Preferred Darlo and Leeds meeself. Much better pace to british friendlies.

  • 3 t00ntime // Jul 12, 2012 at 3:21 PM

@check i think its more about letting our european fan base see our players live, like last year in the usa.

The ‘helps us with europa’ is probably nothing cause i agree with u that it probably wont help…

  • 4 Beattie25 // Jul 12, 2012 at 3:21 PM

Somebody appeared on the blog last night and mentioned Kara Mbodj.

Don’t know why! Don’t know how! I hope it’s true though as we would have the beastliest midfield in existence.

Does anyone know how to book away tickets? Specifically the Cardiff game?

  • 6 markmac // Jul 12, 2012 at 3:35 PM

pre-season seems to have arrived very fast again! now lets get someone signed…..the suspense is killing me :-/

  • 7 Beattie25 // Jul 12, 2012 at 3:39 PM

    Is anyone else not excited??

    Pre season baby!!!

    Winder what shirts we’ll wear?

It seems like it was only yesterday when I was Orlando watching the lads get beat 1-0. The last time I ever saw Enrique in a nufc shirt.

Roll on 2012-2013 for more heartbreak, anger and revulsion!!

And of course some good times too!!

  • 8 t00ntime // Jul 12, 2012 at 3:39 PM

Rumour has it (in the french press) that debuchy doesnt want to sign a new contract and inssists he wants to go to nufc, lille are looking for £7,8million and nufc are preparing a bid (source: twitter: le equpie (or something lyk that xD)

Dont know how true it is… But fingers crossed

  • 16 eastend toon // Jul 12, 2012 at 3:59 PM

He was only 17 years and not even two full seasons in Ligue 1 in the legs, but M’Baye Niang has already put the English club Arsenal to his feet. Party in London to take a test at the Gunners striker Stade Malherbe de Caen is always the other side of the Channel. Reportedly, the Caen have successfully passed the entrance examination and convinced the vice-European champion in 2006, although for now, nothing concrete to report.

But the Gunners will have to accelerate if they expect to enroll striker Lower Normandy. Certainly very fond of rookies made ??in Ligue 1, Newcastle is indeed the forcing to engage the services of the player. A meeting between representatives of the Magpies and Niang had already taken place. But again, no information about an offer not filtered.

Anyway, with the departure of Pierre-Alain Frau (Bastia) and the likely transfer of Niang, the SMC would be left without its two main assets offensive when starting his season in League 2. But more generally, a departure from Niang abroad so young would fuel the chronic hopes promising French left early without having done a long time viewers enjoy their talent.

Guidetti wants to go to Italy; his granddad is from Italy.

Who’s our next target please? ;-)

    Stil thing we will sign:

CB: Good ( work permit problems then someone else)

    RB: Debuchy

    FW: Hoilett ( inside forward)

  • 20 kevin8701 // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:14 PM

@Beattie25 – I was at the Orlando match last year as well. It was great seeing the team up close. But I’m definitely ready for the season to get here!

  • 21 Geordie-Jake // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:19 PM

Does anyone know if the match 2moro night is on the radio?

  • 22 super magpie // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:23 PM

Hopefully these matches will give us a bit of European experience, also I wouldn’t believe a word that of what pardew says about transfers, I think we’ll sign more than 3 players. He’s just trying to answer the media’s questions albeit probably ( hopefully) lying.

  • 23 t00ntime // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:25 PM

The rumour is that carroll wil take a paycut so that he cud come back to newcastle, tbf i cant see it happening but wud it be that bad to have ba+cisse+carroll fighting for a place…
With the loser on the bench and the others upfront in a 4-4-2

  • 24 gonufc (up and Hatem) // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:30 PM

@t00ntime – see that’s the problem for me, if we get Carroll back we’ll be playing 4-4-2, when we’ve been lightyears better with 4-3-3.

  • 25 t00ntime // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:41 PM

Pardew has already said ba will play as a striker :S which means ba+cisse upfront so i think we will be playing a 4-4-2 type of formation :(

I agree with u though we looked much better with a 4-3-3

  • 26 SupaToonKid // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:44 PM

I expect we’ll sign all our new players before August (except Douglas if were still in for him). Hopefully we’ll finalise moves for Hoilett & Good, finally end the Debuchy saga and sign a young CF like Castaignos but i’d take a look at Sakho as i fear we’ll need 4 good CBs for that tight start to the season.

In the Prem we’d go straight in against Spurs with:

    ——————————–KRUL—————————-
    DEBUCHY—–COLLOCINI—SAKHO——-SANTON
    ——————————-TIOTE—————————-
    ——————–CABAYE—-MARVEAUX————–
    BEN ARFA—————-CISSE—————-HOILETT

    Then in Europa League Qualifier:

    ——————————Elliot——————————-
    Tavernier———–Saylor—–Williamson————Perch
    ————————Jonas——Gosling———————-
    Obertan——————Amalfitano—————Ferguson
    ——————————–Ba———————————

  • 27 Ibizatoon - Back by popular demand // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:46 PM

What Pardew said is that Ba wants to play as a striker, didn’t he? He didn’t say he’d play them both as strikers to my knowledge.

Personally I’d rotate Ba and Cisse for most games, as long as they were happy to do so. Occasionally a 4-4-2 may be preferable, in which case they could partner each other or it may be an opportunity to bed in the new striker or give Shola an odd game?

I’d be much happier having a fit and rested Ba or Cisse per game.

  • 28 SupaToonKid // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:48 PM

Somebody like Anita as well would be a useful aquisition with his ability to play CDM, LB or RB so we could play him at LB in Europa League and then CDM competion for Tiote in the Prem/Step in when Cheick is at ACON.

what uv shown is we have cover for all positions but i think hel only make 3 or 4 changes at the most for every game, depending on opposition and player fitness

  • 31 SupaToonKid // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:51 PM

How good is Paul Dummett everybody? Could he be good back up to Santon or does he need some loans?

  • 32 SupaToonKid // Jul 12, 2012 at 4:57 PM

    Gateshead-Mag

aye but it depends who we get in the qualifier really (quality of team & distances to play away leg). If we’re playing some Estonian side then i think the 2nd side would be appropriate as the quality would be low and then players like Cisse won’t be jet lagged for the Chelski game. If it’s somebody like Inter Milan then yes we probably would play a stronger side & just rest 4 key players: Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Cisse & Collo.

i dont think pardew is arrogant enough to write any team off, so if it was an estonian team or woteva id still expect to see a hand full of the first team, then if were hamering them take them off with plenty time to go,

any team can cause an upset in cup competition…..its one of the many reasons we love football haha

  • 38 Jail for Ashley // Jul 12, 2012 at 5:28 PM

I think it’s ridiculous that the team winning seven games to lift the FA cup goes straight in to the group stages while the team finishing fifth after a 38 game slog could end up.facing a top team to get to the group stage.

  • 39 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 5:28 PM

    @LooneyToon

Well I certainly like to think so ;)

    @Magpies-till-d3ath

I’d find it hard to believe that Debuchy would sign a new contract with Lille, he has a host of Prem clubs chasing him, with Inter Milan supposedly interested. Cabaye is his best mate and we need a ball playing RB. The ingredients are right for him to come to RB, would be a perfect fit for both player and club. Let’s hope both clubs can come to an agreement and soon.

  • 44 WWYCD // Jul 12, 2012 at 5:59 PM

The ligue 2 striker will cost £5 mill, 17 years old.
Debuchy could sign a new contract with Lille.

  • 73 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:32 PM

    @Breno

Robert doesn’t play for us anymore, he was lazy, arrogant and only for the fact that he had a mesmerising FK he wouldn’t have been at the club for so long.

I never slated him once when he was at the club, because as I said before, any player who CURRENTLY plays for the club deserves our respect and support. As soon as they leave the club I no longer have any allegiance to them and can call it like I see it.

I backed Michael Owen to the hilt while he played for us but now I state categorically that he was a money grabbing mercenary and I would give him a mouthful if I saw him on the street because the depths of hatred I have for that man are unreal. I can criticise him now because he no longer plays for us, Shola, however, still does thus commands our respect and support.

So if you wish to debase me and slate me as a hypocrite you might want to fully examine your facts before doing so.

That little high horse you find yourself perched upon….get off it son ;)

If he is crocked though we will end up signing a CB and he could well end up well down that pecking order again….then the transfer request could arise again from Mr Newcastle

  • 84 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:41 PM

Also, everyone said PSG would dominate last season – and look how that ended up.

Didn’t Silva just extent his contract last week, too?

  • 89 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:44 PM

    @TDS

Don’t think too many people believe that MA deals too much with the day-to-day running of the club, he has people employed to do that. But at the end of the day it is up to him to lay goals in front of his staff, to finance new signings and to direct the club. This is very much Mike Ashley’s project, don’t try and convince yourself otherwise just because it means giving the guy some credit.

  • 90 Geordie-Jake // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:45 PM

WWYCD Aye it’ll b a shame, especially if the big Swede goes, wish Ibra had’ve stayed at Barca

  • 91 breno95 // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:45 PM

Easy to say u never slated any of them when at the club. If your fav player was to go would your opinion of him alter then giving his record. As for Owen he signed a contract that was put to him by the then Mr Shepherd & Co. In addition he too experienced bad injuries which stopped him from playing just like your main man. Big difference between the 2 is Owen had only 4 years at the club playing 70 plus games with 30 goals to his name. Thinking just because a player is from the clubs city and has been there all his career don’t make him good. KK saw past him and nearly got shot if him to Stoke. Guessing you probs would have then gone on to be a Stoke fan? Muppet.

  • 92 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:47 PM

    @JfA

Seems to be doing the rounds that rumour, not helped by the fact that Guthrie actually urged Simmo to join him at Reading too.

The expectation is that Simmo will go and we will sign a fullback, either LB or RB depending on where Pards sees Santon playing.

In an interview with Italian journos Santon said that Pards intends on playing him on the right so that would make the Debuchy saga seem pointless, on the other hand Pard has been quoted as seeing Santon as a right footed LB (which he is)

So basically, none of us have a clue what’s going on!

Glad to be home to this madness? haha

  • 93 MagpiesFlyHigh // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:48 PM

If Saylor is crocked already we desperately need an equal class CB. I love the way he puts himself on the line but he’s always goin to pick up injuries with his style of play.

We need another one oot the same mould.

BTW – all those guys wanting Donkey back might think how well he and Saylor might ‘hit it off’ in the dressing room. Who’d you rather have on your team ?
I know who’d be on my team sheet (and no I’ll never post one – it’s the football blog equivalent of self abuse)

  • 99 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:53 PM

    @Breno

I think you are just reacting angrily because I rumbled your pathetically constructed argument. I have never once said that Shola was my “main man” he was never my favourite player or however else you wish to phrase that.

There are many good players that played for NUFC and I still liked them when they left, Rob Lee was a hero and I always thought the world of him. Lee Clarke was fantastic and any time he played against us I never harbored any grudges against him. There are many players who fleeced us and came here to milk the NUFC cash-cow and when those players leave I have nothing but disdain for them (yet while they are in the black and white I still support them THAT IS MY POINT)

With regards me becoming a Stoke supporter had Shola went to Stoke, well he actually did go to Stoke on loan and the permanent move didn’t materialise. He was supposed to go to Ipswich and that never got off the ground either. He has been at NUFC for 12 years and always given his best, much like injury hampered Owen’s Newcastle career so too has injury hampered Shola’s.

Finally, I would like an apology for calling me both a hypocrite and a muppet. Otherwise I don’t think I wish to continue any conversations with you.

  • 100 Peter // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:55 PM

  • 104 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 7:59 PM

    “the blog’s god almighty…”

Suppose then people like you and Indian Magpie should be given carte blanche to slate off players like Shola, Obertan, Willo and Simmo?

It is my opinion that people shouldn’t be allowed to do that, because it moves from being someone’s opinion to unnecessarily attacking our own players and I for one won’t stand for that.

If you don’t like it. Tough

Of course he sets targets – he’ll set targets and he’ll set budgets. But at the end of the day, if the budget that Ashley sets makes signing Debuchy, De Jong, Anita etc impossible, then it is the job of Carr, Pardew, Lambias & Charnley to move on to the next target.

Did I mention anything about giving him credit? In fact I’d be surprised if I’ve ever made a post crediting Ashley with anything other than relegating us.

I think the purpose of this pre season is to get the players used to some of the venues we’ll likely encounter in the Europa so I would think the team will feature a lot of the youngsters that Pards plans to play in Europe.

  • 112 breno95 // Jul 12, 2012 at 8:07 PM

    @ ruddy.
I neither like or dislike it. However if posts contain peoples opinions on certain players then so be it. I have not slated any of those you named but the fact is I don’t rate Shola at all. I think Williamson is not EPL but he did very well last few seasons. I want Simpson to stay as I feel a LB and CB are the key positions to strengthen. I like Obertan and taking into account the lack of football he has played whilst at Man Utd he can and will improve with games under his belt. Finally I will apologise as you seem to be someone that enters into a lively debate and says it how he sees it. After all is that not what these blogs are for?

  • 113 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Jul 12, 2012 at 8:08 PM

    @TDS

You must have missed what I meant. I said that the reason you wish to distance Ashley from our current success is for that exact reason. If he was too closely linked to the current success we are having then that would mean that Ashley haters would have to eat humble pie and admit they are wrong.

What you are doing is saying that Ashley has eff all to do with the success we are having and as such you are still able to justify your hatred of him, which to me is absolute tosh.

He employed Pardew, he appointed Graham Carr. He is the one that emphasised the importance of youth development after KK completely dismissed it. He is the one that is putting long term goals in place for us to get to the level we should be. It was his wage subsidy that allowed us to keep our best players when we were in the Championship and bounce back at the first attempt so don’t sit there and patronise me by saying MA has little to do with where we are now.

    It is nonsense

    @Breno

I respect the fact that you are big enough to apologise, and of course that is what these forums are for. For people to state their opinions in a reasoned and rational way and to enter into lively debate about the issues surrounding the club.

However, when these opinions descend into personal attacks on our own players I feel I must speak up and make my feelings known that I am not comfortable with that. I will defend any player, no matter how good or bad they are, if they play in the black and white. After they leave the club people can have whatever opinion they want.

  • 169 Jail for Ashley // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:02 PM

Surely Mashley and co have learned enough from past mistakes and Best wouldnt have been sold if we weren’t confident about bringing a long term target in.

  • 170 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:02 PM

Don’t you think that we’re in greater need of a defender than an attacker though? That would be my reasoning for Debuchy anyway…

Hoilett seems a bit of a greedy bar steward anyway! Plus, that dive at St James’ last season will take some forgiving!

  • 171 Tonytoon73 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:03 PM

WWYCD Them happy pills are no good.

  • 172 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:04 PM

Would they view it as a mistake though? They waited 6 months and signed a top top forward for about £5m less than they’d have paid in the summer! At which point we were sat 6th in the table!

I’m not saying we should wait again, obviously – I’m just not so sure they’ll view it as a mistake after the season we had!

  • 173 roblee7 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:04 PM

toondownsouth…..hmmmm, yes, you’ve swayed me!! Debuchy it is then, would be v.suprised if we can get him in though

  • 174 jesperfuglsang // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:04 PM

It has always been my belief that any young lad has had to have a season in the Championship in order to take the next step up.

I hope they are ready, but I am just not convinced. If Arsenal is anything to go by, then I would say both Abeid, Vuckic, Tav and maybe even Fergy needs to go out on load this season.

  • 175 WWYCD // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:05 PM

    Tony
    Haha I can tell

Anyway lads this “prat” is off for the night have a good un fellas

  • 176 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:05 PM

    rob

Yeah, me too mate. Given that he just had a very good Euro 2012 as well, it’d be a huge huge signing for us. Probably the biggest name we’d have signed in years

  • 177 Gateshead-Mag // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:05 PM

whatever happens, yous have to remember wev got marveux sammy ameobi and taylor back from injuries that meant they missed most of the season,

now am not for 1 minute saying class them as new signings but just look at the difference ben arfa made when he came back from injury and got fit

  • 178 roblee7 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:05 PM

anyone take a look at me shirts? the france one’s are immense, just wish I could afford to keep them! :(

  • 179 Beattie25 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:06 PM

    TDS

Our youngsters look good but we need more cover in various positions.

e.g. goalkeeper, left back, centre back, striker

Whilst we have good 16-17 year olds only the very special talents can touch the first team. We are under strengthed in various positions and cannot gamble this season.

  • 180 roblee7 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:06 PM

toondownsouth….too right, he’d be most exciting signing probably since marc hottiger! ;)

  • 181 Tonytoon73 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:08 PM

    See you after prat. Lol

  • 182 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:10 PM

It’s already been mentioned, but the potential signings of Zlatan and Silva to PSG for 50mill, will surely cause them to offload a few players. Sakho and Gameiro would do us nicely.

If we get Sakho, plus Debuchy or Clyne and Hoilett that’s a great summer’s business.

  • 183 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:13 PM

    Beattie

I completely agree – but I think that taking the gamble is probably the most likely course of action that we’ll end up taking.

    jesper

I agree mate, but I don’t think we can afford to send them out on loan, given all the commitments we’ve got this season

  • 184 Jail for Ashley // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:15 PM

    Gateshead mag,
Two of the three players you mentioned have a serious history of injuries Marveaux limping off for the season in his first premier start,we simply have to strengthen if we’re to keep up the momentum.

  • 185 Ben Arfa (Either love him or Hatem) // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:15 PM

    157,
What about Nene? Beastly LW and looks like he’ll be second fiddle to Lavezzi

  • 186 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:17 PM

I think/hope Gosling and Obertan will impress this season, if they don’t they’ll be gone next summer and replaced with better quality. Well i’m confident Gosling will, Obertan maybe if Steve Stone tells him when to cross and not do five extra step overs!

  • 187 Gateshead-Mag // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:19 PM

    jfa,

i heard sum1 saying that hed finally got the operation on his groin that he should have got a few seasons back(marveux)

i agree we need to strengthen just dont think it would be the end of the world if we only signed another couple of players

  • 188 Geordie-Jake // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:21 PM

    Nene’s 30

  • 189 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:21 PM

    Ben Arfa,
Nene is good player, but pretty sure he’s quite lazy aswell and imagine he’s on a good wage too. plus he’s 30 or older now. They have pastore there too, so Nene will surely be off.

I wouldn’t mind their young keeper as back up to Krul, Areola.

  • 190 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:24 PM

they also have that Bahebeck who’s highly rated but will probably be over priced.

See they were linked with Modric too. I bet they still don’t win Ligue 1

  • 191 Ben Arfa (Either love him or Hatem) // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:26 PM

Never knew he was 30, my bad.
Does Matuidi still have a place?

  • 192 Ben Arfa (Either love him or Hatem) // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:29 PM

    @TADS,
Imagine how good we could have been with Cisse and Ba in September-December. That could have been the difference of 2 places and the money brought in through CL would be better than the £5m saved.

  • 193 Gateshead-Mag // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:31 PM

just look at city, they still took a few seasons to win league even tho they signed likes of robiniho, doesnt matter how good theyv played for other clubs, if theyre not happy they wont play well,

suppose ligue 1s not quite the premier league lol

  • 194 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:32 PM

    Ben Arfa

    I’m TDS – TADS is some one else (;

But anyway. Yeah, that’s completely true. But given that our target was a top 10 finish, I doubt they’ll be sweating too much over that!

  • 195 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:34 PM

Hopefully Montpellier & Lille invest the money they got for Giroud & Hazard very well, and carry on challenging PSG.

  • 196 Ben Arfa (Either love him or Hatem) // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:36 PM

    Thought you were TADS, oops.
Pards and co. took a risk – things could have been even better but you win some, you lose some. Let’s be grateful we’re not QPR

  • 197 ToonDownSouth // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:37 PM

Unfortunately I think the board will be setting a target of top 8 this year – Pardew’s alluded to it numerous times.

Looks like they want to build slowly. It’s the sensible thing to do, it’s just not as exciting for us :(

  • 198 Gateshead-Mag // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:38 PM

    tds,

target for last year was avoid relegation, doesnt matter what the targets are we can achieve anything, pardews said target is top 8 but they want to push on for CL if possible

  • 199 619nufc // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:40 PM

Just seen this article, it brings back some good toon memories!

  • 200 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:40 PM

The Montpellier right back Bocaly is good, plus they have Marveaux’s older brother Joris. Marseille with their squad will hopefully beat PSG to the title.

A little bit sad, but i’m hoping ESPN got the rights to show Ligue one this coming season.

  • 201 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:45 PM

    @619

Now that’s reminded me that Sibierski should have been given another season with us, damn that Allardyce!

  • 202 MagpiesFlyHigh // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:49 PM

    TDS

The risk is if you build too slowly you become a hostage to fortune – injuries in particular. We desperately need defensive cover more than anything else..

  • 203 geordie157 // Jul 12, 2012 at 9:55 PM

This will be our Starting 11 vs Spurs, a little optimistic maybe but possible!

    Krul
    Debuchy Colo Sakho Santon
    Cabaye Tiote
    Ben Arfa Marveaux Hoilett
    Cisse
