Newcastle have finally announced their pre-season schedule, which sees them playing six games, before the season starts against Tottenham at St. James’ Park on 18th August.

There is definitely a game also scheduled at the International Stadium against Gateshead on Wednesday, 1st August, but Newcastle will send a Development eleven to that game.
And the game that was supposed to be arranged in August against ADO Den Haag in Holland, Tim Krul’s former club, doesn’t show up in the schedule.
The Newcastle first team squad will leave this afternoon from Newcastle Airport and spend nine days in Germany and Hungary, playing three friendly games that have been widely reported in the press, and are detailed above.
The club is saying that because of the cancellation of the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa, Newcastle had to scramble to arrange alternative friendly games, and they seem to have done a good job.
That’s bad news for Newcastle’s South African fans, who were looking forward to the club visiting South Africa.
Later in July, Newcastle will have a second mini-trip and travel to Portugal to compete in the Guadiana Torneo, in the Algarve Stadium in Southern Portugal, near Faro.
And as we reported a few days ago, FC Porto have been replaced by SC Braga in the game on Saturday, 28th July.
That’s who former Newcastle midfielder Hugo Viana currently plays for, and the games in Portugal have an 8:45 pm KO time.
It looks a very decent pre-season schedule with some good games arranged.
Comments welcome.

Comment #43Ashley and Llambias need to get their fingers out like, as it stands, If Ba and Cisse got to the African cup of nations we will only have Shola as a striker. I know its early days but I hope we have learned our lesson from last season.

Comment #44News on the twatisphere that we are in talks with the striker who is on trail with Arsenal, Debuchy has dumped Lille and is courting our own black & white home and Toilet has the choice of Toon/football or London/money
Wonder if any of this isn’t just utter tosh!

Comment #45For the armchair accountants that frequent the blog we’ve had an excellent transfer window,so far we’ve brought in 5 million pounds, slashed the wage bill by a hundred grand a week and paid out only a few quid in undisclosed agents fees.

The ligue 2 striker will cost £5 mill, 17 years old.
Debuchy could sign a new contract with Lille.
We’re monitoring the Hoilett situation.
I hope the last 2 are true, £5 mill for a 17 year old…no, just….no.

17 year old and rated at 10 mill by all accounts though could be fantastic very soon I’d take the lad. Reckon we’ve made a good bit of money in order to take a gamble
I agree on Toilet and Debuchy I’d take them both but wouldn’t be shocked if neither come

Comment #54The bullying on this blog is unacceptable. I can’t be the only one to notice what is happening.
This blog is here for everyone aslong as Ed’s rules are followed. The abuse some of the contributors receive is uncalled for and unnecessary. Bullying can leave scars no matter how many apologies are given.
Different views, opinions, names even….. where will it end?

Comment #68I just want ashley to make a statement this transfer window. Look at Spurs, they signed Siggurdson and Vertonghen already and are looking good for next season. I think we should do the same and sign Debuchy,Gaimero,Hoilett and a decent CB, all realistic targets IMO

Comment #70This is for ruddy. following your comments yesterday about how you will not tolerate individuals slating players who wear the black and White of NUFC in particular the one and only Shola and how you shoot down anyone who posts their opinion on a player, I have to say that you appear to be a hypocrite as in earlier posts you have slagged of L Robert (he had more skill in his little toe than u know who) as well as Bumble, Bellamy, Dyer, Bowyer. If I am mistaken I am sure they all have worn the shirt. Pot, kettle comes to mind.

Although I do agree, I must have done something right if others see fit to copy 😛 haha
May I join in the welcome party for Jail for Ashley, it has been a while? Where are ye now lad? Overseas or in the toon?
On the Willo thing I think MA and Co have enough sense to know they need to bring in a CB, if Pards is to be believed on what he said about in January MA was pushing the issue in the last window so hopefully they are pursuing it now.
@WWYCD
Really praying Saylor can keep fit, but the lad is injured again! Bloody hamstring has gone and they’re only in pre-season training! #facepalm

Robert doesn’t play for us anymore, he was lazy, arrogant and only for the fact that he had a mesmerising FK he wouldn’t have been at the club for so long.
I never slated him once when he was at the club, because as I said before, any player who CURRENTLY plays for the club deserves our respect and support. As soon as they leave the club I no longer have any allegiance to them and can call it like I see it.
I backed Michael Owen to the hilt while he played for us but now I state categorically that he was a money grabbing mercenary and I would give him a mouthful if I saw him on the street because the depths of hatred I have for that man are unreal. I can criticise him now because he no longer plays for us, Shola, however, still does thus commands our respect and support.
So if you wish to debase me and slate me as a hypocrite you might want to fully examine your facts before doing so.
That little high horse you find yourself perched upon….get off it son 😉

Hamstring apparently….I’ll try and find the sire that I read it on. Pards said he isn’t too worried about the injury, he’s just glad it wasn’t a recurrence of the one that kept him out for the 2nd part of last season.
