Coloccini – We Can Have Another Great Year Like The Last One

Maybe Fabricio Coloccini hasn’t yet got the word fully from Alan Pardew, that the plan this summer is to significantly dampen expectations for next season, as once again the Newcastle captain has come out and said the lads can have as good a season as the last one. 😀

Coloccini talks to coaches John Carver and Steve Stone earlier this week

Fab mustn’t have checked with his manager Alan Pardew, but the Argentine is glad to be back at Newcastle, after six weeks away from the game, and he seems to have been missing his football while he’s been in Argentina:

“It is good to be back in training and we have had six weeks without football. I spent a lot of time with family and friends over the summer, but you miss football and it is nice to be back kicking a ball around again.”

“We are back into the hard work now. Pre-season training is always tough but you need it. We have a long season ahead of us so you need this work to prepare you for it.”

“We are going to have to work really hard, with Europe as well as the league and the cups this year.”  “It will be tough but there is no reason why we can’t have another year like the last one, because we are a good team.”

“Newcastle have gone a lot of years without playing in Europe and it will be a nice experience for us.”  “Playing in Europe is what every player wants, and it is great for the Club as well. We deserve it after a lot of hard work.

“We have to enjoy every minute of it.”

Fabricio was speaking on the Newcastle web-site from eastern Germany last night, where the lads play their first pre-season friendly against Chemnitzer tonight at 6:30 pm local time, in the German town of Chemnitz.

Coloccini will be the first man this season to captain Newcastle United back into European competition for a long six years – that’s just too long.

And finally, for anyone who missed it on last two articles: Official!! Andy Carroll WILL NOT be playing for NUFC this season.
Source: Twitter. Cwarr07 has stated he WILL DEFFO be playing for us, therefore the opposite is true 😉

We didn’t use Smith last season. Guthrie is a loss but replaced to an extent imo. Loven and Forster was scarsly present last season. Best was only present for about half a season, but needs replacing.

So for me, 1 more player needs replacing, then add another 2 players. So many young players coming through with great futures, so AP is right to not go overboard with signings. 3 blue chip, FB, CB, Striker.
    Sorted.

Lukaku is a major point in that respect. What a complete waste, Chelsea has a reserve team player costing 30% of our current first team squad.
It’s stupid. Being newcastle, i think we’d wait until final year of contract. Cause u know the lad with a talent like that wouldnt stay in Belgium for longer than his current contract.
And loaning out immidetly, how do they bed in to the english system?!

Yeah we need 3 new players as Dannyo says a FB, CB & a young CF are a must.

The areas we need to strengthen are the positions that squad players had to fill last season.

    Full Back
    Centre Back
Defensive Midfield – Abeid and Amalfitano position filled.

Loven & Best going – We need at least 1 striker ideally 2.

    Plenty of time.

Exactly how I see it mate if u loan a player out back to the club u bought them from thats the first 2 years of their contract where u arent seeing the best from them because they arent settled/adapted

I recall we were linked with Lukaku at the time Chelsea bought him when the price quoted was around 10 mill and the ‘future Drogba’ wanted first team football…worked out well for him so far

4 players would be good though so maybe add Hoilett to the list as i can see Jonas being operated primarily in the centre of the park next year & as a FB occassionally. Marveaux as well with his vision could be an effective player in CM.

Cwarr07 reporting that NUFC will trouser £25M for STaylor and Colo to be replaced by a new low budget central defensive partnership of Mike Ashley and Jail For Ashley.

Finding out that the squad are shtting themselves at the thought of JFA shoring up the defence but are quietly confident about Mike would be too good for Jail.

With you on that one Danyo,
I defenitely think a striker will be brought in after letting Best go unless I’ve dropped my guard in the extent of Mashleys’ risk taking in the transfer market, surely after our past errors/gambles he wouldn’t be so stupid as to leave us with only Shola and Ranger as cover.

Amalfitano is a CAM. Our new recruit for CDM is Bigrimana.

Tiote, Jonas, Perch, Abeid, Gosling, R. Taylor & Bigirimana can all be deployed as CDMs. We have plenty of cover in that area and i have faith in the Goslings & Abeids to step up to that position next year if needed but still when you take Tiote out of the situation for when he’ll be at ACON we still look a bit short but that’s probably me just being pesimistic.

Should keep em shorter mate, like Jail does. Much more punch to them then 😉

I do wonder if this french kid, 17 years old has any truth to it. 17 years old, plays in Ligue 2, price of £5 mill. I think it’s ridiculus. The lad has barely grown pubic hair yet and he’s worth £5 mill. If u pay that ammount for a kid, he should be ready to play, and be part of the 1st team. Or else i know a million other players we could benefit from right now.

Tbf to him he is a Ligue 1 player thats why Caen are selling him because they got relegated and at 17 playing top flight football is pretty impressive I dont think 5 mill is that much for him all things considered…maybe too much for us however we will have to see

Let’s take a play out of Claus Lundekvam’s book and spot fix throughout the first half of the season, to boost our January transfer kitty, and get us a signing that will only enhance our title bid. Like we did with Tino Asprilla. That turned out well.
