Newcastle target Vurnon Anita of Ajax wants to meet with Ajax Director of Football Marc Overmars, the former Ajax and Arsenal star winger, to sort out his future.
Vurnon Anita – keen to jouin Newcastle or so it seems
There’s little doubt that since the 23 year-old heard about Newcastle’s interest, and had a £5M offer turned down a few weeks ago, it has seemed to unsettle the full-back, who can also play in defensive midfield, and he seems anxious to help push through a deal so he can get to Tyneside and play in the Premier League.
Anita was one of Newcastle’s early targets in the summer, and one for which they have already put in an offer to his Dutch club, but news that Sunderland and Aston Villa re also interested in acquiring the 3 times capped Dutch International.
Anita is very keen to play ion the Premier lague and he had this to say to the Sunday Mirror:
“I’ve two years left on my contract. But I want some clarity from Ajax about my future. We are having a meeting with Marc Overmars, the club’s new sporting director, to get a clear view of what the club wants.”
His agent Harry Lulofs is doing his very best to get him set up with a Premier League club, and recently confirmed the fact that Sunderland were interested.
“What I understand from Ajax is that there are some Premier League clubs in England who are seriously interested,” “Clubs like Aston Villa, Norwich City, Sunderland and Newcastle United have asked about the status of the player.”
“This is quite normal because Vurnon Anita was one of the best players in the Ajax team in the last two years and will be one of the new Dutch internationals.” “But only Newcastle United have made a written offer to Ajax, who didn’t want to let the player go for that money.”
It seems that Ajax are keen for Newcastle to come back in with an improved offer for their player, but no new bid has yet been made by the Magpies.
The player himself a couple of day ago said he still wants to play in England, but that his club will not let him go:
“I am going to seriously consider any interest and will discuss it with my parents.” “The Premier League is a top competition where I would want to play.”
“Ajax say they won’t let me go and I’m tied up here until 2014. It would be no punishment to stay, but you never know.”
Ajax wont let him go only because they want more money for him and if Newcastle increased their offer by a couple of million he could quickly become a Newcastle player, but whether the club will do that – we simply don’t know.

i dont think he would play Ba on left wing because then he would be unhappy. i think it should be how spain played at euros with midfielders and attackers playing through centre.

How about sparking some sort of discussion, one that we haven’t been over 10 times already, rather than whining, Hatem?

i totally agree, whats the point spending5-8 million on another cdm, without even giving mehdi abeid and bigrimana a chance. i also think that we should give vuckic and ferguson a chance because theres no doubt that they have talent 😛

Comment #57I would love to give this formation a go to accommodate Ba in a central role….
……………………..Krul……………………..
Debuchy….Saylor…..Collo…..Santon.
………….Tiote…………….Cabaye……….
…Arfa……………..Ba………………Marv.
……………………..Cisse……………………
Ba has great hold up play and isn’t bad at passing either, creating space for Cabaye to run into.

Comment #61I think the beauty of this season will be pardy’s shadow skills. Other managers will struggle to work out how we are gonna play. We have so much diversity and options its actually unreal. We can switch styles like nowt else its class

Comment #63Abeid and Vuckic are probably the ones knocking on the front door. But they are all young and need time to grow and we need a better quality reserve team (we got spanked by Manu last season 4-1).
So I say give them a proper season in the reserves and occasional inclusion on the bench when appropriate, with the odd cameo.
Would love to see Anita in – I don’t think we’d need a CB then, as he can play CDM and CB. Just a RB and Striker and we’re good to go.

Comment #71Hatem has just reminded me of this quote, as it happens, might have to pick this up again:
“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

Okay, as Sammy played as a lone striker in Germany, do you think Pardew sees him as a forward now rather than a winger?

I think he sees him as having the versatility to play both, obviously. I still think he’ll be deployed primarily as a winger this season, as it looks like we’ve had some fortune with the ACoN draw and we’ll have Ba and Cisse for the duration, plus old faithful Shola. Also I see Vuckic ahead of him through the middle, playing off Shola, should our Demba’s get crocked, that’s on the premise that another forward doesn’t come in.
