Newcastle target Vurnon Anita of Ajax wants to meet with Ajax Director of Football Marc Overmars, the former Ajax and Arsenal star winger, to sort out his future.
Vurnon Anita – keen to jouin Newcastle or so it seems
There’s little doubt that since the 23 year-old heard about Newcastle’s interest, and had a £5M offer turned down a few weeks ago, it has seemed to unsettle the full-back, who can also play in defensive midfield, and he seems anxious to help push through a deal so he can get to Tyneside and play in the Premier League.
Anita was one of Newcastle’s early targets in the summer, and one for which they have already put in an offer to his Dutch club, but news that Sunderland and Aston Villa re also interested in acquiring the 3 times capped Dutch International.
Anita is very keen to play ion the Premier lague and he had this to say to the Sunday Mirror:
“I’ve two years left on my contract. But I want some clarity from Ajax about my future. We are having a meeting with Marc Overmars, the club’s new sporting director, to get a clear view of what the club wants.”
His agent Harry Lulofs is doing his very best to get him set up with a Premier League club, and recently confirmed the fact that Sunderland were interested.
“What I understand from Ajax is that there are some Premier League clubs in England who are seriously interested,” “Clubs like Aston Villa, Norwich City, Sunderland and Newcastle United have asked about the status of the player.”
“This is quite normal because Vurnon Anita was one of the best players in the Ajax team in the last two years and will be one of the new Dutch internationals.” “But only Newcastle United have made a written offer to Ajax, who didn’t want to let the player go for that money.”
It seems that Ajax are keen for Newcastle to come back in with an improved offer for their player, but no new bid has yet been made by the Magpies.
The player himself a couple of day ago said he still wants to play in England, but that his club will not let him go:
“I am going to seriously consider any interest and will discuss it with my parents.” “The Premier League is a top competition where I would want to play.”
“Ajax say they won’t let me go and I’m tied up here until 2014. It would be no punishment to stay, but you never know.”
Ajax wont let him go only because they want more money for him and if Newcastle increased their offer by a couple of million he could quickly become a Newcastle player, but whether the club will do that – we simply don’t know.

Comment #322All you AC haters, remember the £35M, allowed us to get rid of troublemakers, and get in the tremendous players we now have. if somebody comes in for one of them for the same £35M they will be gone as well.

Comment #323Boys this is obviosly causing waves, I for one remember a certain pedro leaving us for Liverpool and when he came back he was tremendous. . . . Wait for it before you lot remind me the circumstances were different ! I know when peter b left I was a younger lad and I was devestated but football is all about results ! Simple , and if andy does come back and does the business on the pitch I for one will support the bigger picture which is Newcastle United . Boys if it does not work we could always sell him to big Sam for 45 million ! Let’s just wait and see what happens, time will tell

Comment #325I am aware AC signed an improved contract not long before he was sold for 35million pounds cash. No club would have turned that down and the terms offered to him were liverpools. It’s not like AC demanded the wage he is reported to be on. If you were the No. 9 but football was your career I think you would move on also irrespective if it meant leaving your home town club etc. All players want better contracts and those currently employed by NUFC are no different. I think it’s the only time I have agreed with Harry Redknapp. A player moves to who will pay him the most money in most transfers. There may be a few exceptions but very rare.
