There has been news over the last few days that Newcastle may be interested in Cheikou Kouyate, who plays for Anderlecht in the Belgium League, and he is a 6’4″ center-back born in Senegal.
Cheikou Kouyate – 22 year-old 6’4″ Anderlecht center-back
Cheikou is only 22 years old and he was born in Dakur, Senegal, the same City as Newcastle’s star striker Papiss Cisse,
The youngster has played for the Senegal U21 side, and he started his career in Belgium at FC Brussels in 2007, but moved to Anderlect the following year, and he has so far played 157 times with 7 goals for Anderlecht.
Newcastle have already watched this lad in action, with Chief Scout Graham Carr again being the one who has spotted the youngster, and it seems that Newcastle will keep an eye on him when he plays in the London Olympics for Senegal.
Newcastle are after 24 year-old Brazilian Douglas from FC Twente, and the news recently is that they have agreed a £5M deal for the center-back with his Dutch club, and we’re almost sure that 19 year-old Australian Curtis Good will also be coming to Tyneside, and he will cost around £400K.
So if those two signings happen, we cannot see Newcastle bringing in this 22 year-old to Tyneside, but that doesn’t stop them from watching how the lad performs in the Olympics.
Kouyate is left footed, and as well as playing in the back four he can also play in central midfield, and this seems the first time we have been linked with this player.
