Tim Krul will be joining the Newcastle squad in Germany for the remainder of the first of their two mini-European tours in this pre-seaosn.
Tim Krul in action last season – we must have just scored!
The Newcastle Assistant Manager John Carver had this to say to the Newcastle Journal this morning:
“All of the lads who were at Euro 2012 or played in World Cup qualifiers had some extra rest.” “I thought Tim was unfortunate not to get some action with Holland.” “But he’ll come back to us raring to go for the new season.”
And even though the schedule of the pre-season games was only announced last Thursday, that hasn’t stopped some dedicated fans making the trip to Germany to see the lads in action.
Newcastle will play AS Monaco tonight at Landsberg am Lech in Germany, with a 7:00 pm local KO time, and the town is about 30 miles east of Munich, and Newcastle fans made the 300 mile train journey from Dresden and Chemnitz over the weekend.
And as we mentioned yesterday, some of the details of pre-season are still changing, with the match against Fenerbahce on Saturday now being played in Austria, at the Sonnenseestadion, which is the home of SC Ritzing, and not in Sopron in Hungary, as initially scheduled.
Kyocera Stadium, Den Haag, Holland
And as we had reported a week or so ago, Newcastle have confirmed they will play Tim Krul’s old club, Den Haag on August 4th, at the Kyocera Stadium, The Hague in Holland.
Here is the updated pre-season schedule:

2nd last paragraph states debuchy flew into newcastle last night? havent seen anyone else comment on this, any thoughts?
“Newcastle are close to completing one deal, with France full-back Mathieu Debuchy flying into England last night to seal a £7m move from Lille. Debuchy, a defender who impressed at Euro 2012, is expected to sign a four-year deal.” – for anyone that cant find it

TorqToon – i agree mate. Personally i think that anyone that refuses to even consider the plus-side of having AC in the squad, or another tall/powerful striker for that matter, is just close-minded.
JDdubai – i don’t particularly like 4-4-2 but i would also rather we not play 4-3-3 (coincidentally also a part of the tiki-taka obsession). With the players we have available i would much rather play 4-2-3-1 but i suppose we have to adapt tactics depending on what opponent we are facing and so forth.

Comment #20One habit of Krul that I hate is that he needlessly gives possession away by hoofing the ball back up the field.
9/10 times when he receives a back pass he cannons it forward. and the majority of the time the opposition regains possession.
Not sure if he is being told to do that or if he just does it out of habit. But he needs to sometimes pass it to the defence to build up play etc.

Monaco, Fenerbache and Olympakos are all teams who normally qulify for the EUROPA league, Cardiff were close to promotion last season, Braga are a decent side and replaced Porto, who were Champions League qualifiers too.

Aye I suppose it won’t. Hoof it far enough so that its in the opposing box, and let carroll do the diving. We should get quite a few goals with those tactics 😛

Comment #30Debuchy arrived at a hotel on the quayside on saturday night sporting his kit bag & a bit of beard growth. He was spotted by a member of staff that shall remain nameless. (I would never post this unless i believed my sources. as it leaves me open to the usual ”name source” ”is he in the room next to barnetta” bla ha bla ha! =| )

We won 6 on the spin in a 433. Spain won 3 major tournaments. Like it or not, it’s a good system and it works.
Just maybe perhaps accept others know what they’re actually doing and aren’t wrong just because you don’t like it. necessarily. It’s not all about you is it.
