Sky Sports Report Magpies Make €4M Bid For Defender

Sky Sports is reporting tonight that Newcastle have made an official €4M (about £3.12M) bid for FC Twente center-back Douglas.

Newcastle make first official bid for Douglas

Previous reports had said that a fee as much as £5M had already been agreed between the two clubs, but it seems Newcastle have now moved in to get what is their number one center-back target.

Newcastle have missed out on their number one striker target at FC Twente, 21 year-old Dutchman Luuk de Jong, who seems to prefer to join German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

And news on Sunday evening that the Tyneside club have made an audacious bid to bring big Andy Carroll back to Tyneside from Liverpool.

Sky Sports are reporting late tonight that Newcastle are now in the lead to sign the 6’4″ Brazilian Douglas , who has ambitions to play for Holland at International level, and whose transfer has been complicated by a number of  factors this summer.

London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham have also been linked with the 24-year-old, with reports that Italian giants Juventus have also been interested in the big defender.

Newcastle sent Managing Director Derek Llambias and Secretary Lee Charnley to Holland just over two weeks ago, in an effort to do a double deal with FC Twente for Luuk de Jong and Douglas, but that effort turned out to be unsuccessful.

Sky Sports is reporting that this is Newcastle’s opening bid for the Brazilian defender, so we will await news of FC Twente’s response to this first bid, which is not high, and we would expect them to turn if down.

It seems FC Twente are still smarting from the deal two years ago, when Newcastle paid only £3.5M for Cheick Tiote, and have made him into one of the best holding defenders in the Premier League.

We think they will try to squeeze as much money as they can out of Newcastle  for their big defender, and even hope to turn this into another bidding war.

Fingers crossed it gets accepted! Seems a little low to me but what do I know!

Also on Hoillett…apparently he is back from Germany and now thinking about his “options”! Seems monstermunchbag aren’t the only choice on the table! QPR? newcastle?? Who knows!

Never really comment but I always read the posts and comments, extremely happy with the news Ed good to hear that all has gone well. Now NUFC wrap up a signing for Ed.

In terms of Transfers I would like Mirallas to be signed he is lethal. If Debuchy Carroll Anita Douglas are signed up we have made major improvements as we are still expected to have several youngsters come in as part of our Reserve squad.

Some1 posted about a LB at the Marriot yesterday any update on that or another Colin

Hope deal is sealed by the end of the week. Btw we should hold on to simpson. Despite his height and “ok” crosses he’s a assest to the team and knows where to place himself with those goal line saves lol. He will learn from Debucy and get better. Team enviroment helps nuture skills

Back to Douglas, i think FC Twente will play hardball again just like they did with De Jong

Not being one of the numpties to post and say 1st ffs.Not being one of the people who claim to be in the know either.Hers my own rumour.
we have enquired about Kevin Gameiro, who finds himself way down the list at PSG.
OK my window cleaner’s hairdresser has a son, who comes on here posting first, but never ever has anything else to say,he is related to the numpty who locks players in hotel rooms, for years till he gets one right, well his taxi driver said this is nailed on.Mind he was minging in a bar tonight. So tomorrow we will see all the wanna be’s typing in their formations and dream teams.
Nowt ever changes on here like hehehehe
But I do hope Ed is on the mend
It can only happen to a Toon fan
oh and for all the Mr.Angry’s this is tongue in cheek, and my dad could nack your dad any time,oh damn my dad died, that’s a bugger

Our Douglas deal hasn’t been helped but Borrussia and the Luuk de Jong saga…all that did was show Twente that they CAN demand silly money for their players and somebody will pay it. I think Douglas will be massive for this club should we get him.

Although I was keen to get Anita – not so much now.
Biri seems to be a little terrier and we already have Abeid, |Perchino, Gosling to cover.

We certainly need a good new CB.

    So by my reckoning:

    Incomings for cash –

    Bigi 1m
    Douglas 3m
    Debuchy 7m
    Anita 7m
    Carroll 13m

    Total 28m

    Exits for cash –

    Forster 2m
    Best 3m
    Simpson 4m

    Total spend = 19m

Let’s get carried away and put that title champagne on ice – WOOOOOOOOO! 😛

Kidding, but if we could improve our squad by such a degree, for 19m, which I don’t think is beyond Ashley’s scope, it would be a very exciting season to come!

First off all, great news about your health Ed, keep it up and I’m sure you’ll be fine 🙂

And secondly, I don’t think we need a new main cb, maybe a good backup just in case taylor has injuries again. But if it wasn’t for his injuries in the past and last season, he would have been in the England squad a few year ago, he’s one of the best in the country when he’s at it and fully fit. But then again I don’t think he can last a full season, shame really, ohh well heres to a good transfer window. HWTL

Who said this transfer season was going slow?! Lol. For the last few weeks it’s been snails pace, now we have extremely strong connections and negotiations with
    Debuchy
    Doulas
    Anita
    Carroll

Aswell as links to the likes of Hoillett. Then we’re always guarantees a suprise signing aswell aren’t we? Hows that pending messi transfer, does he not want to tell his club he wants to leave to jump on the Pardew express? All aboard next stop champions league!

Bigi still needs to develop and when he’s ready then they can always rotate. Anita can play LB, LW, Libero, AM, and perhaps (RB, RW).

Jonas would be the one with less game time.

This offer seems quite low but if it is accepted, I’ll be over the moon. Its great seeing how Newcastle do deals these days, this Carroll transfer is extra sweet as our boy will try and force a move back making the.bindippers lose so much in the transfer. I’m sure he will come good for us.top

LOL that is a really low bid. If it gets accepted then great. I do feel sorry for Twente, the must feel so short changed for Cheik tiote, but their fault for agreeing to that price 😛 Our gain was their loss. £5m should seal it for Douglas.

What do you guys feel about signing Simon Kjaer and Diego from Wolfsburg? Both were out on loan last season and the club wants to sell.

Remember how highly rated these two were a couple of years ago. They’ve fallen off their form recently, but reckon Pards could get the best out of him. Diego could make assits for fun in the premiership if he feels comfortable in the team he plays in.

A player is only as good as their competition. In this case it required prem level footy to bring the one and only lion king to life. I noticed a baby cub named Gael that was tagging along not too long ago. HWTL.
