The signing of Cheick Tiote by Chief Scout Graham Carr a couple of years ago, is one of the best buys Newcastle have ever made for a central midfielder, and it’s no wonder that the saying In Carr We Trust is now in vogue with Newcastle supporters – why wouldn’t we?
Cheick Tiote – has been a great player for Newcastle
Cheick has told anybody who would listen, that he is very happy at Newcastle, and doesn’t want to go to a place like London, which doesn’t seem to suit his living style or his personalty – Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal please take note.
Cheick was asked in the local press today, if he still wants to stay with Newcastle, a question he must be getting tired of hearing – and this is how he responded:
“Yes. I’m still a Newcastle player. I’m very happy here.” “All I’m looking at is that the season ahead of us will be a really good one, just like last season.”
“Last season we finished fifth, and doing that again will be difficult – and we’ll have to use the squad.” “I am ready for the challenge with Newcastle.” “It’s a new season, and I think we have a lot of things to do.”
“We’ll be playing in two competitions, and it’s going to be difficult. It means we’ll have to train hard in Germany.” “If we do that here and in Portugal, we’ll be ready for the start of the season.”
“I think I’ve had enough time to rest, but I had been playing international games.” “I’ve had a really good summer.”
When you think that Cheick has only been at Newcastle for a couple of years, with 52 appearances and one very memorable goal, it’s really been a dream move for him, and his arrival has corresponded with Newcastle moving up among the big boys.
It’s small wonder that Cheick is very happy on Tyneside, where he is loved, and long may he stay at the club, after signing a great new deal eighteen months ago.
That lucrative deal keeps him at Newcastle until 2017, after he had resisted moving to Chelsea on the very last day of the transfer window 18 months ago – the same day Andy Carroll joined Liverpool.
Well Andy now wants to come back, so it’s probably best for the big stars at Newcastle to just stay on Tyneside, and help Newcastle become a top English club – once again.

Comment #4repost :
Magpies – what are you 13?! I was gutted when he left but im in the camp that believes the whole move wasnt by his choice. Remember the whole “forced out” story?…well im leaning towards believing that not least of all because this whole move for him now (at cut price) seems a lot like MA trying to make amends for cashing in on him back then.

Comment #5Magpies, Andy Carroll was brilliant and played his heart out whilst wearing black and white, short memory, he’s had a mare at scumpool but will still offer the Toon a massive amount in our colours.
Hope we get him, he will be still giving 100% well after Ba has decided to chase the cash. Get Real, for me he was pushed out and badly advised at the time by those closest to him. Mr Nolan that is, scouse shit.

Comment #7There was a documentary on youtube a bit back someone posted on here. It was in french presumably for an african channel. Anyway as he’s arriving for training some fans want a autograph
He stops and signs autographs then drives away. As he’s driving he says something like “there here every time with out fail” then he looks like he starts to get teary eyed. Point is it make me think that he does truly want to be here and all he needs is fans love and enough money to support his family.
Or at least thats what i hope its like 😉

He was barely into his 5 yr contract and wanted more money, remember the story him knocking on pards door asking us to match Liverpool offer??
Tbf the deal suited both parties, Andy and the board, but to say he was forced out?? That is criminal. Barton was forced out. Not Carroll. We refused 20, 25, 30, 35 only wen the said they would pay cash did we accept.
Remember, pards as been saying since the season started, if U want out players, U will have to pay up, a hugely inflated price. That was the same attitude we took with Carroll.

Comment #10Magpies…..No talent? So tell me something, why was almost every toon fan gutted to see him go? Surely a player with no talent fetching us £35m would be an instant hero, as pointed out in my last post. I’m happy to discuss anything Newcastle related on here, but please try and back up your opinion not just spout utter b*ll*cks.

Comment #13tarie4 – in this case for me personally AC’s story seems more believable then the club’s. They would never admit to cashing in on him. Like i said…the fact that they are trying to bring him back now reinforces that belief…to me it smells like MA making amends for cashing in on him…thats just the way i see it…might be right or might be wrong…maybe years from now there will be an autobiography (Pardew, MA, Andy , whoever) where we will be told the actual truth…

Comment #14I don’t know anymore what’s up and down in the Carroll saga, but I do know this:
When it comes to the truth, then there is yours and mine and then the truth 😉
So it is probably somewhere in between what both Pardew and Carroll have said…there are no saints or sinners here if you ask me 🙂

oh like Carroll. Would admit to leaving for money?? Haha
please atleast look at the facts. Andy was offered times 2 what he was on here. Liverpool were at that time a better team and were in Europe (not to mention the history) his friend Nolan told him to take the offer and move to Liverpool, he banged on APs door demanding us to match Liverpools offer, mike and co wanted 35 mill as I said, it suited both parties, Carroll and the board. To say he was forced out?? Haha as I said before Barton was forced out not Carroll, he went willingly. Mate.
Carroll is a fantastic player, and AP as always said he would love him back and expressed admiration for him..
dnt U think that’s the main reason we are after him? Because pards feels he can get the best out of him??
I feel ur judgement on this issue is clouded by something else maybe a hatred of the board etc. But if that’s what u want to believe then fair enough, however absurd it might be.

carroll was on 30g and after being offered 80g by liverpool he asked for 50g to stay effectively taking a 30g paycut to stay. a reasonable request imo.
on talk sport the other day someone close to the deal was saying it was bs we ad received all the money up front.
after the club painted ac out to be greedy for wanting more money 6mths after signing new contract they prom’tly went ahead and gave tiote a 30g rise after only 6mths at the club.
i said on an earlier post that both parties ac and nufc wronged each other realise that and are tryin to rectify it. i would love him back #comehomeandy

Comment #24tarie4 – i dont hate the board for selling him. it was good business…i can relate to that since i majored in business in university and such. However…it would seem more likely that AC admits to leaving for money then the board admitting to cashing in. He is a professional footballer first and NUFC fan second and i dont blame him. No matter how loyal i may be to the company i work for if a rival offers me triple salary i’d have my resignation on my boss’s desk in the blink of an eye. On the other hand, the club would have had to admit to cashing in on what was arguably our star footballer at the time…much harder to justify to fans imho.
I agree that the deal was good for both parties at the time though…might be a case of both sides wanting to save face…like i said…we dont know and may never know the truth.

Agreed, that’s what I am saying, that the deal suited both parties, the board and andy. Andy was not forced out. On tiote, tiote rejected the Chelsea move from the get go? Andy did not. BIG DIFFERENCE.
I personally dnt trust soures, why?? Because the money for Andy was coming from Chelsea (Torres) and Liverpool fans will tell U, they agreed to sell Torres wen they knew the would get Andy. To say we already had the money?? I think that person was mis-informed (telling fibs)
I would love Andy back, but at the right price. He is a fantastic player.

Are U sure about that? name me a player who ever said that they left for money? Andy is more likely to admit than the board. AP has been saying to whoever will listen that if U want cabaye tiote etc, I will have to pay alot of money. Is that not basically saying we will cash in if the cash is acceptable?
“I agree that the deal was good for both parties at the time though…might be a case of both sides wanting to save face…like i said…we dont know and may never know the truth.”
Its nice to see U backtrack from ur he was forced out stories to the deal was right for both parties 😉

Comment #29tarie agree about tiote loyalty deserves reward. i dont trust sources either but i also dont yet fully trust ma and dl though they are clearly learning fast from any mistakes they made. personally i think ac was a panic buy by lfc otherwise the american owners at the time wudve been facing one hellish shitstorm for selling torres so we sensibly took advantage

Comment #31tarie4 – oh yeah the deal was great for both parties from an economic point of view. My point was that the board could have kept him if they wanted to… assuming the figures naptoon mentioned are true then asking for 50k while turning down 80k is admirable. But its all water under the bridge now and we made good signings for that money…now if we could get Andy back at a reasonable price we could say we pulled off one of the greatest deals in football history. Like someone else was saying the other day…getting the players we did + Andy back using the 35mil we sold andy for in the first place would be a stroke of genius on MA’s part.

Tiote did sign a 6 and half deal. I think he would deserve a pay rise on a contract that long, Andy had just signed a 5 year deal earlier that season. And there are quotes with him saying that it was a fantastic deal, blah blah. And barely 2/3 months later wanted another rise? BIG DIFFERENCE

Comment #34Loyalty is a rare thing in today’s game – players are too easily swung by money and the thought of greener pastures (we know that more than most!), so it’s so great to hear Mr T reaffirm his commitment to the club…and shove one right up the manc’s who may have thought they could prise him away! A great player, top professional and all round good guy! 🙂
Like we always say – In Carr we trust…so let’s not all get down and childish (magpie) about all this as I’m sure the club have considered all options and are in conplete control – despite what the journo’s spout!

Comment #38I must admit, I really do love Cheick. Everytime he puts on a Newcastle shirt he gives it his all and you can never doubt his commitment to the cause. He might pick up the odd yellow card (or ten) but he’s definitely improved in that regard. Hope we do manage to keep him on Tyneside for many years to come because at the minute he is probably the best ‘destructive’ player in the Premier League. It looks like he could also be a great role model for Biggie both on and off the pitch. God help opposition midfielders when those two are on the pitch throwing themselves into tackles.

Joking aside. I love this bloke. One of the best around in his position. Glad the love is mutual between him and us fans. Maybe he enjoys being one of the first names on the team sheet here. Not like when he was warming the bench at twente. I hope he stays for many years to come!
