We had put a report out on Thursday commenting on the apparent confusion surrounding Newcastle target Douglas, because the 24 year-old Brazilian, after saying he wanted to leave FC Twente for the English Premier League, made a new comment that he may just want to stay at Twente and see out the last year of his contract at Enschede.
Douglas – seems to be conflicted about whether to move or stay
And it seems today that his different and conflicting comments are also causing just a little bit of confusion at his club, as the FC Twente Chairman Joop Munsterman doesn’t know what to believe.
The is what Chairman Joop Munsterman had to say today on Douglas:
“It is unclear exactly what Newcastle United and Douglas want.” “Douglas calls me one week and says that he wants to leave and then he calls me the next week and tells me he wants to say.”
So we are not the only ones confused by Douglas’ conflicting statements, and the inside news is that even if Douglas elects to stay at Twente though next season, Newcastle would still be after him in January or next summer, and would still want to bring him to Newcastle.
That’s always assuming that the club don’t sign another center-back before then, and there are are good young ones still available.
And to be fair to Douglas, maybe he’s just conflicted about whether to leave this summer, or wait until next summer when he could probably get a much better deal, because he would be a free agent and cost nothing.
But with these conflicting statements and Douglas’ statement about a club bigger than Newcastle who were after him, which we think was Italian club Juventus – (note: we wore black and white stripes before they did) – we wonder if this lad is right for Newcastle?
What do you think?

Comment #51Interesting article about all our muslim players; Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote & Mehdi Abeid.
This year, the fasting month of Ramadan begins on Friday (20th July) and finishes around Friday 17th August – the opening day of the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League season.

Comment #66Scharner would give us 8 goals per season…when has he ever landed that many goals in a season? Also he is too old and no where near good enough to play for NUFC imo relegation battling team/championship team at best in England
If he signs for us I will quit posting on this blog, move to Japan and become a Buddhist monk

Comment #67Whats more surprising about that Gago deal is the fact more teams were’nt interested. He was class in a very average Roma side last season.

2. Where can I get some

Comment #69Jfa its well known scharner could easily bag us 15 goals this season the fact that hes never scored 8 in a season before is simply because he didnt want to!

Comment #71I think you all need to admit that Paul Scharner’s a decent player who deserves to play for a top 10 club in the premier league.
Maybe he gets a lot of hassle because he scored the winner for West Brom against us last season?
Sign him up Mike.
