Newcastle are a very forward looking club these days, and while sometimes we’d like them to cough up a few more million to get our transfer targets without the agony of long waits as the haggling goes on, the club seems to be very well run these days, and that’s not something that’s generally associated with Newcastle United.
Italian youngster Davide Santon shows off Newcastle’s new network
Like most clubs Newcastle have their own TV network – nufcTV, and it’s a good deal for Newcastle fans, and you see the match highlights for every game – often around 10 minutes, and the interviews with Alan Pardew and other players are also worth watching.
Newcastle have shown today they are a club of the future, by launching their own mobile phone network – nufcMobile.
The report is that the pay-as-you-go package will allow Newcastle fans to support the club every time they make a call and send a text, and the users also gain access to special voicemail messages from the players and manager Alan Pardew, and can take advantage of a host of special offers.
Dan King, on the official site is reporting the following:
SIM cards will be sent out free to all season ticket holders and new Members, while supporters with a current Membership will be able to order a pack from the club’s official website. They can also be bought online and in club stores by supporters for £10, including £10 worth of credit, and are available to pre-order now.
The network offers extremely competitive rates – up to 50 per cent cheaper than the major networks – and the club Membership scheme helps to support United’s Academy. The nufcMobile call centre is based in the UK and the cards can be topped up at all Paypoint and PayZone locations.
Newcastle have shown they are aggressive in moving forward and trying to build up those revenues, which are so important these days, and will help Newcastle compete with the best of the European clubs in the future – or that’s what we hope in any case.
Newcastle’s Director of Retail, Stuart Middlemiss, said on the official site today:
“We are delighted to be launching nufcMobile as it offers extremely competitive rates for our fans – especially when calling other nufcMobile users.
“We have decided to offer the SIM card free to all Newcastle United members to thank fans for their continued support and we hope our supporters use the network and benefit from the savings.”
“The SIM cards are transferrable so they can be passed to friends and family members for members who do not wish to use them. We will be running regular offers and there will also be a few familiar voices when customers call the network.”
It seems a good deal for Newcastle fans, and if the rates are good, they are saying they are up to 50% cheaper than major providers, then it should be a big success.
But it’s yet another way in which Newcastle seem to be ahead of the game, and that bodes well for the future.
And heaven knows what will be next from Newcastle – maybe a bakery to compete against Greggs – the nufcBakery?
I’d be trying their Vanilla slice for sure. 😀
Howay The Lads!!
