Alan Pardew has come out today and told told the local press in Newcastle, that he senses Mike Ashley wants to give it a real go this coming season, and see if Newcastle can keep in the top six of the Premier League, and even improve on what we did last season – a fantastic 5rth place in the table.
Mike Ashley – Newcastle sun (what – where?) now shining on the owner?
But things are becoming a little frustrating at the moment for fans, with Newcastle seemingly at an impasse with the Debuchy, Douglas and Andy Carroll transfers.
Although good news today, that Curtis Good from Melbourne Heart will some become a Newcastle player, although initially he will only be part of the Development squad – if reports are to be believed.
And Newcastle seem to be increasingly confident they can keep their top players on Tyneside, including Demba Ba, whose contract runs out next Tuesday, and the news yesterday that Russian Premier Club Rubin Kazan had activated that release clause in his contract, is supposed to be false.
Alan has said that Billionaire owner Mike Ashley is really looking forward to seeing how well Newcastle can fare this season:
“Mike wants to give it a real go.” “He got excited about what we did last year.” “We got very, very close to the Champions League and I think it has egged him on to really give it a go.”
“The fans have seen what he is trying to do. All the criticism of the past suddenly seems slightly shallow.” “He’s got the club on a good footing and we are looked at as a good model for other Premier League teams. Financially, we are sound.”
“We can’t compete with the big boys unless we get Champions League football.” “Mike isn’t going to fund that. He’s made that clear, but he’s given me an opportunity to maybe do it anyway.”
“I’m hoping the success continues and the fans appreciate the £260M of Mike’s own money he’s put in. He wants to see success.” “And I’m quietly confident that we’ll keep our players.”
The negotiations for our top targets has been slow and rather tedious this summer, and it would be good news if we can one of them through the door soon.
And it may come as a shock (at least to us) that Newcastle are reportedly getting close to signing Loic Remy from Marseilles, and he would be an excellent acquisition for Newcastle, and we’d then have four top strikers at the club, if we can bring Loic in.
