Newcastle Debuchy Deal In Balance – Chelsea Move In

Newcastle like to get good deals for their incoming transfers, and are willing to wait to get good deals, and they have shown in the past that if they cannot get a good deal, they are prepared to walk away and look at the next target on their list.

Mathieu Debuchy – deal falling though?

With Newcastle’s financial house being in much better order these days, with the financial results through June 30th expected to be good when they are finally announced, it was thought that Newcastle may loosen up the purse strings just a little bit this summer, and maybe  pay one or two million over that their evaluation, if a good player is within reach.

A case in point is Mathieu Debuchy, with the French star telling Newcastle  he will do everything he can to force a move through, so he can join his friend Yohan Cabaye at Newcastle.

Debuchy even failed to turn up for training last Saturday, but started training at Lille on Monday morning.

There has been news in the last day, that Newcastle have become frustrated with Lille because  no agreement can be reached on the price, and the club are on the verge of walking away, and they may have already done that, to pursue other targets.

One point in Newcastle’s favor is that the player is very keen to join the Magpies,  and the other point is that Mathieu has been a loyal servant and a good player for the French club, ever  since he made his debut for them way back in 2004.

It doesn’t look good after a player has been so loyal and played 288 games for the club and scored 17 goals, that they may be seen to be standing in the way of his dream move, because of price.

Of course that’s not the way Lille will see it,  and are simply trying to get the best price for one of their very best players.

We don’t know how this is all going to turn out, but be ready for Newcastle to walk away from the deal, and the latest news is that Chelsea look likely to step in and pay what Lille want – and Newcastle will lose out.

That could well happen, but if  it does some Newcastle fans will be just a little frustrated and annoyed, that their club seems to have been so tight, when an excellent player was within their grasp.

Tottenham and Inter-Milan are also supposed to be interested in signing the player, if the news is to be believed.

What do you think about this?

I know there is still over a month left of the transfer window but it’s also been one of the most frustrating… Amal, Biri and Good are not first teamers.. Wanted a signal of intent.

Just fooooooookin sign Debuchy… So important for Cabaye to stay as well..

Sorry for the moan but far too long on this, newsnow, twitter with no news…

We really need AT LEAST 2 first teamers signed this window..

Pardew saying that we would be happy with 8th when we finished 5th is not right.

    Look forwards, not backwards…

As much as I am fustrated, I respect the club for not being held to ransom. And jus cos chelski and tottenham are in for him don’t mean he will sign for them! He could well tell lille he’ll see out the last of his contract and come to us on a free next year! He is out of contract next summer aint he?

If Chelsea come in and get him for say 7.5 mill I will be extremely annoyed!

I know we like to get good deals but his value with likely at the very minimum double I he has an even slightly good season. That’s just how the epl works! Sign him now!!

I still think that we will getting him. Bit optimistic but I think it’s further along then what’s being let on by both clubs. Atleast that’s what I’m hoping for but when Chelsea are linked you never know what’s gonna happen coz they just throw money at anyone

What I don’t understand is that we were prepared to pay 5mill for Santon which was a risky transfer… Debuchy is proven!!! Just pay the money for him…

Wish I had 5 mins with PArdew and the board!!

Reading between the lines we are about to sign Messi

Plus, I heard in Russia they don’t sell Syrup so Ba is going nowhere.

FFS!!!! Debuchy is worth at least 7mil, in comarable terms to other players of his quality and position. I have always championed our policy for value etc, but sometimes you just need to pay the price.

GET A GRIP AND SIGN HIM UP , If he goes to Chelski Ill be fuming

If we keep being tight and show no ambition the first teamers we do have are going to go elsewhere instead of battling for 5th position every year. Get the readies out Ashley, send in the one they call ‘the llama’ and get the deal done.

Like I said on a previous post. When you finish 5th the prices of players you want will go up. We are looking to progress therefore make more money in prices and other revenue streams. This also means we will have to pay higher fees for players. Surely Ashley and Co realise this. I agree with Betton about Santon.

to be honest, i’m proud of the club sticking to its guns… i love how people on here talk abotu paying an extra couple of million just to get the player over the line… a couple of million…. 2,000,000.

firstly, stop thinking MA’s wealth is the clubs… we all know his goal is to make this club self sufficient and the only way to do that is to not sacrifice the certain principles the club now has.

personally, the best thing for this club is to not lose any players this window, the next best thing is to shore up our defence… we can all agree that if our defence wasnt so suspect last season we would be in the CL.

do not be held to ransom NUFC. jesus, just becasue the rest of the EPL will pay what a club demands… i’m kinda glad NUFC wont

OK guys, this story contains no direct quotes or sources or anything really. Ed is reporting what has been reported elsewhere, there is no claim of fact anywhere.

With this in mind, should we calm down and stop bashing the board? If come 31st August we don’t have what we need to compete at our returned status of a top 7 / Europe team, then b*tch away, but it’s 25th July and the board are dealing with transfers the same way they always so and the the same way they got the following players:

    Cabaye
    Santon
    Cisse
    Ba
    Marv
    Tiote

Terrible business if you ask me

Yorkshire, I think we are all frustrated about the lack of progress with 1st team signings.

But, consider his connection to Cabaye, his desire to play for NUFC and the fact he is about to enter the last year of his Contract.

If we do walk away today, we lose a player until January. As long as Debuchy refuses to sign elsewhere, he will be on a “Free” from January onwards. We could sign him up in January at no cost in transfer fee, to play next season. Lille miss out big time, we save money and still get the player we wanted – allbeit a few months later than we wanted him.

I can see why NUFC would like that option!!

I hope we dont walk away because we have obviously identified him as our first choice and rightly so,why go to choice 2.Pay the £8 mill and sell Simpson for £3-4 mill and we get one of the best left backs in Europe.Sometimes you have to pay the going rate to improve the team standard,i can see us ending up with Simpson staying which is a shame really because for an extra couple of mill we would be in buisness

Intresting stat on andy off a liverpool site (published in march so doesnt count his run of form fir the last 5/6 games of the season) is out of all his headed chances throughout the season which was 39 only 9 were on target and only 1 he scored giving him a headed chance conversion of 2.6% i honestly think he offers nothing different to ba or cisse ba is just as physical and cisse is an flat out athlete capable of beating most defenders in the air not to mention theres a reason we dont whip in crosses all over the place, we dont have the players to, with our current squad andy just wouldnt fit in and whats needed is a pacey striker to play a shadow striker/CAM kinda role, in all honesty when you de romanticise the andy situation he just doesnt fit with the current squad if we had a player who could cross like joey maybe but at the moment the money possibly is better spent elsewhere
I know remy is 1 goal in 2.2 games or something but andys at fools was a about 1 in 3.9 which isnt bad but like you said not for £15 mil

He is also a MUST sign for Cabaye to stay… One of our most important players..

Lots of pissing and moaning going on here. Newcastle are being run as a business should be run. They’re not willing to pay over the odds for a player who has a year left on his contract. Lille have every right to get as much money as possible for one of their star players and we have every right to stick to a budget. If Chelsea want to pay stupid money for him, then let them. They’ll offer him bigger wages than we can. Our only hope is Cabaye convinces him we’re the only choice. Got nothing against the board dealing with transfers like this, worked out last summer.

Get a grip FFS. If the deal aint right, dont sign him.
There are hundreds of very good rightbacks out there. This guy has had 1 good tournament and he is the best in the world.

I also disagree with the we need him to keep Cabaye??? Bollix
If Cabaye is happy he will stay if not he will ask to go….You dont have to buy his mate and sign his mother and fatha up FFS

Please take a chill pill you all, things will happen. 9 Players out 3 in, Mike Ashley is not stupid, he has already prven that in the last year or two.

Why are people panicking. The current squad got us 5th.

Bigi and amil look like they can for into the first team squad, both seen decent players with first team experience.

Spending and extra million or two to get transfers done adds up.

We managed to save 5 million by waiting to sign cisse. That’s more than enough to buy a tiote or cabaye for us.

People need relax and see how little business has been done by all teams so far.

Only clubs to make signings have spent over 10 million on each player so far.

Once one move happens it kick starts others, just need to be patient.

Ed ! this guy is the french RB, who we have destabilised and now he’s left hanging in the wind.
If Baines is worth an estimated £8m.., how much is debuchy worth.
This lowball brinkmanship is getting us nowhere and appears Ashley is beginning to believe his press clippings, about being a tough negotiator.
Believe it this policy will get us nowhere, other than antagonise clubs and regrett lost opportunities, not unlike Moses who we could have ad for £2m.
It’s geting close to the end of the window and we could still lose Ba, that and the fact we need defensive help badly.
Time we made some reasonable offers, but Ashley IMO
feels he can walk on water when it comes to deal making.
    Ah well !

That’s a silly thing to say mate.. Know it was a joke…

But it’s important we keep our players happy… Especially considering Cabaye could be a Barcelona player in a year.. He was the best French player in the Euros…

It’s not like we’d sign Debuchy solely for the Cabaye reason.. He’s be an AWESOME player for us!

Cabaye and Debuchy play a one two… Debuchy runs down the right hand sign.. Crosses it into the box and CISSE is there to head it in…
