Steven Taylor And Tim Krul Both Start

Steven Taylor starts his first pre-season friendly game tonight, as Newcastle take on Greek Champions Olympiakos in the Algarve Stadium with a kick off time of 8:45 pm BST.

And Tim Krul gets his first start of pre-season after being given extra time off after his Euro 2012 exploits in the Dutch squad.

Steven Taylor will partner Mike Williamson in central defense tonight, and these two will likely fight it out for a starting position next to Coloccini next season.

Davide Santon is fit, after a slight worry earlier today and starts at left back, and new boys Gael Bigirimana and Romain Amalfitano also get starts, so Newcastle seem to have no injury worries now.

Haris Vuckic and Shola Ameobi also get start up front, although I’m not sure what formation the lads will be playing tonight.

Newcastle United (4-4-1-1): Tim Krul; James Perch, Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson, Davide Santon; Gabriel Obertan, Gael Bigirimana, Dan Gosling, Romain Amalfitano; Haris Vuckic; Shola Ameobi

Olympiakos starting 11…Roy Carroll, Torosidis, Siovas, Dielna, Papazoglou, Vlahodimos, Fejsa, Chumbinho, Fetfatzidis, Diogo, Djebbour……………Only 2 1st team players Nufc should win however do keep an eye out for Torosidis, Fetfatzidis, and Chumbinho

Anyone else worried Pardew has only really played 4-4-2 in pre season. A sign of things to come perhaps ?

No response as to why you asked me to ‘calm down’ ?

People using the ‘it’s a blog, it’s an opinion’ line as a way to tell others to shut up is getting tiring.

I was quite clearly expressing mine.

So Amalfitano is again playing on the wing? I thought he wasn’t a winger and didn’t play well last time he played on the wing so surely now he should play at least one game in his preferred/strongest position so he can actually show us and Pardew what he can do in his best position.

because mate i was only giving an opinion based on what i had seen of Amalfitano and you jumped straight onto me, just because he’s only played a small handful of games, doesn’t mean i can’t express my opinion on him

i also hate it when people have a go just because a poster slates a newcastle player, just because they’re ours doesn’t mean we can’t pick fault, i will always support them on the pitch, but for example i personally think gosling is nowhere near the standard to play for NUFC, yet others will just keep saying he’s going to come good, just cause he plays for us

    but anyway HWTL

why exactly are we giving shola so much playing time? he’s 32 now and whether he’s been out for a year or in the starting 11, you always know what you get from him, which is f***all. reguardless of him being a ‘legend’ in some people’s eyes, it doesn’t change the fact cisse and ba need match fitness….he needs to retire

not looking forward to amalfitano if he’s on the wing again either. Bigi will have extra work to do today with them two and DG in front of him!

Jumpd straight onto you? Can you point out which part of my post offended you?

I was asking a simple question. Why post an opinion if, when asked to explain it, you get offended? If you genuinely took offense to anything I said, then you’re a little too sensitive…

    Seriously, read it back.

Ok, after 4 minutes I’ve seen Williamson hoof it up x3 without anyone closing it down. This is why we need another CB.
