Alan Pardew has named a completely different starting eleven for the game tonight against Braga, from that which started last night’s game against Olympiacos, which ended in a 1-1 draw and 4-4 on penalties, and James Tavernier, Sylvain Marveaux and the Senegal strikers, Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba all start.
Yohan Cabaye is on the substitutes bench and may get some playing time, but that could be 15 minutes at most tonight, but will depend on the type of game and the state of the game with say 20 minutes to go.
Sammy Ameobi also gets a start tonight as do Danny Simpson and Ryan Taylor, and it looks a strong Newcastle side, and Danny Simpson or James Tavernier will play alongside Coloccini in central defense.
Dan Gosling is not included in the squad after picking up what is said to be a slight hip injury last night – and it’s good that’s his injury is not serious.
Everybody else who played last night is on the subs bench, and it would be good the get the win tonight.
Howay The Lads!!
Newcastle United (4-4-2): Steve Harper; Danny Simpson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), James Tavernier, Ryan Taylor; Sammy Ameobi, Cheick Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez, Sylvain Marveaux; Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba
Substitutes: Tim Krul, James Perch, Mike Williamson, Paul Dummett, Steven Taylor, Davide Santon, Gael Bigirimana, Haris Vuckic, Mehdi Abeid, Romain Amalfitano, Haris Vuckic, Shola Ameobi

Comment #244I think Cabaye is going to get 10+ goals next season. He’s definitely added that to his game over the last 6 months.

Comment #246Good win for the lads but to be truthful, we where not great at all. Huffed and puffed through a large portion of the game. However Maveaux was EXCELLENT tonight and i can not understand for the life of me why Pardew didn’t tell the lads to get the ball to Marveaux down that left hand side as much as possible. He was our best player tonight. WTF has happeed to Cisse lol? The kid couldn’t hit a barn door with last night’s penalty miss and tonight’s dire performance. He made Ameobi look like a good striker haha. Cisse will get back into his stride once the season starts. Cabaye came on and was excellent as usual. Couple of players stood out but not the greatest performance. Good job it was only a friendly.

Comment #250Raylor and Marveaux were the best players for us by a mile. Bit concerned about Coloccini’s performance. Hope it’s just a one-off.

Comment #252someone say Sammy is good, but i think he just average,
easy lost the ball away, long pass is not good.
And you can see Marveaux in the second half, he is good use the ball, skill & flexible, can know how to pass the ball teammate. he is different level with Sammy, Marveaux is a MOTM for me, i prefer use Obertan or Ferguson, is not Sammy~
