Bigi played his a*se off but Obertan showed some amazing speed and skill that at times majorley embarresed olypiacos i felt when he was taken off we lost our momentum a bit. I wasn’t a big Obertan fan until tonight some of his touches and through balls were top class. Infact the toons overall play was great to watch most of the game! I think we should have won 3 or 4-1 in all honesty.

Lads I got some news for you.
When I was on holiday, I bumped into one of our old boys, Danny Guthrie.
I got chatting to him about NUFC, and he did say something particularly interesting. He seems to be of the opinion that if we sign Andy Carroll, Demba Ba will 100% be leaving.
Make of that what you think of it, but going of what Danny Guthrie says, I do not want us to sign Andy Carroll

sorry mate, have to disagree…obertan just dont cut it for me…has no confidence taking on people and has no end product. think sammy had a better game when he came on, hes was more direct. thought bigi had a great game too…good prospect!

f##k me why is it that simmo or willo get so much stick?,
at the end of the day they played most of the season n we finished 5th higher then all of us could’ve dreamed of,
and then you all jump on obertan who was playin pretty much his 1st season in the bpl n now i’m actually hearing people slating vuckic!!! UNBELIEVABLE GEOFF!! why is it that some of you’s have to have sombody to hate/blame? obertan was great tonight, willo was very tidy and did more good things then he did wrong! but for me bigi was the man of the match so comfortable wit both feet oh and cisse definatly looks hungry

Obertan wasn’t great tonight… You’d be deluded to think otherwise, sorry. He was decent at best, he can have all the pace he wants but no end product. Rather lacklustre display all round vs Olympiacos tonight, my stand out players would be Amalfitano and the two Ameobis.

I didn’t see all the game but Amalfitano really stood out for me with his touch, passing & skill. The lad really has the making of a young Yohan Cabaye. He will be a big player next season I think.

I agree with Manxpie, stop giving Obertan so much stick. The lad is frustrating at times but at others he’s wonderful to watch. He needs to find some consistency and then he’ll be a top pro.

Now fingers crossed Debuchy etc. will finally sign in the next week.!

Williamson gets stick because he deserves it, hes below average defender, did u see him for the goal, your supposed to show the forward the line as a defender its basic stuff, williamson just guessed that he was going down the line and got totally sold, we cant go into the new season with him as our backup centerback or well get nowhere.

Just for the record a player does not deserve stick because they are not good enough. A player deserves stick if they don’t give their all. Willo is as good as he is, if that’s not good enough then it’s the club’s problem not his.

Our two signings so far Bigirimana and Amalfitano were brilliant today. Obertan had one of his good games. He could come good this season. Gosling also did well until his latest injury cut his match short. So happy for Saylor and glad he got a goal to celebrate his comeback in style.

Willo along with Colo for most of the season made up the CB partnership led us to 5th. How he gets as much criticism as he does is beyond me. I’ll agree we need strengthening in that position but to say he’s awful is to go against the facts. He was Mr. Dependable for large chunks of last season.

i’ll quickly summerize the tornament we are in.
braga, olympiacos and nufc are in a tornament together. The rules are simple
    1) each team will play 1 game against the other 2
    2) each game consists of 90mins and 5 peanlties
    3) for every goal/penalty they score they are awarded 1 point.
4)team with most points wins trophy, if points are level youngest team(on average) wins

    atm this is the ‘table’
    Team—–PLAYED—-pts
    olymiacos—2———–10
    Braga——–1———-5
    NUFC——1———–5

so we need to score all 5 pens and win atleast 1-0

Think we held the ball well. This match underlined the quality we have in the squad now. Same as many others my vote went to Bigi, although mention has to go to Danny for playing well until injured and Abeid who again looked assured when he replaced him. Better from Amalfitino too. All in all well played and pleased with what I saw.

Was it just me who realised it was bigirimanas fault for their goal? You never see tiote diving in like that and leaving the defence exposed, stay on your feet. Gosling was better today, vuckic is playing out of position and when he moved into a more cm role and seen more of the ball looked like he could pick out a pass. Shola cannot play for 90 mins, sammy needs to learn how to pass same for obertan, willo and perch were solid krul looked rusty. 4411 dosent work when shola plays because he dosent make any runs in behind and seems to think he can play at walking pace, olympiacos seemed to want to injure everyone on the pitch… My thoughts on the game.
Hopefully we will see 433 against braga with some decent movement upfront.

Just read an absolute b.s post from kevymartins in a previous thread stating “I don’t come on to this site because I will not be diplomatic to posters like ruddy because he is the only one out of alot of Geordies that I dislike…”

Well first and foremost Kevin, I am not a Geordie, I am a Northern Irishman like yourself.

Second of all, why would you not be diplomatic to me? If nothing else I am rational and reasoned, if but a bit passionate about my football team.

Thirdly, if my presence on this site keeps idiotic cretins like you from expressing an opinion then the world is a better place for it you absolute moron so do us all a favour and book yourself in for sterilization.

    That is all.

@09nufc09 people have brught up about bigi and the goal but in fairness if perch was in position bigi would have never had to cover for him and yes he should not have dived in but keep in mind he is only 18 and still learning the game and that was a mistake that he will learn from and become a better player…all in all he had a great game and i could see him pushing for a first team place which is crazy for someone so young an who we payed little to get he will be a great player in a few years time

I don’t think you can say Bigi was our man of the match just because he was cheap – makes no sense what so ever.

And as some say I was partly to blame for the goal we conceeded.

Alfi was not very visable in the first half and Gosling once again made a fantastic start to the game; hope his injury is not too bad.

I find it hard to vote for a MOTM; don’t think we really played that well. Guess the formation is partly to blame for that.

    My vote is blank!

Shola doesn’t work in a 442? In the first place, that’s just plain stupid & lazy observation. Who do you think provided the knock on for Ba against Man U at home? The formation are design accordingly primarily to our strength & availability of players. Please show some respect to the Mackem Slayer haters.
