Alan Pardew and the coaching staff are working hard to ensure there is no complacency in the Newcastle camp, after the lads did so well last season, but they have to do just as well in the coming season, and they cannot rest on their laurels.
Alan Pardew – burning desire to be successful
One of the things we like most about Alan Pardew is that he’s always willing to learn, and his experiences of managing over 13 years with five different club,s is standing him in good stead at Newcastle.
And Pardew remembers probably his greatest triumph as a manager, and it was in May of 2006, when he was within a minute of normal time of winning the FA Cup, but Steven Gerrard equalized and Liverpool finally won 3-1 on penalties after extra time.
And after that successive Alan Pardew found himself sacked in December of 2006, just seven months later, by the new Icelandic owners, and he thinks that one of the reasons that the Hammers made such a poor start to the 2006-2007 season – was there was far too much complacency in the West Ham camp, after they had done so well in the previous season.
And with that experience in mind, Alan is drumming it into both his coaching staff and the players, that they cannot be complacent in pre-season or in the upcoming season – and if they are – we’ll not do very well.
This is what Alan had to say to the Sunday Sun today:
“We’ve added a couple of things to training this year that we hope will bear fruit during the course of the season.” “That always keeps it a little bit interesting for them, giving them something different. The guys have come back in great shape and – touch wood – everyone is fit at the moment.”
“We’ve got a couple of games to get through but at the moment we’re OK.” “We’re feeling good and everyone is in a good place.” “If there is any complacency, it will be the coaching staff’s fault.” “We have to make sure our approach is fresh and it makes sense. “
“Most importantly we have to make sure that it takes us forward.” “This is a very good squad but there’s a lot of players in the squad with reputations that have been gained last year. That is something that they do need to keep their eye on.”
“That’s because if they let their levels drop in any way that reputation will soon be forgotten.” “Of course it helps that the squad is stronger. Some of our bigger players from last season need to do it all over again because the ones behind them are pushing very hard.”
Good words from the Newcastle manager there, and we’re always impressed with the burning desire Alan Pardew seems to have to make Newcastle United great again.
And few would argue that’s he’s made a terrific start in the first 19 months of his management career on Tyneside .
Long may it continue.

Comment #41Nothing happens to Ba, with much more games this season ba and remy will play as many games as each other. Ba will start more PL because if we did sign remy pardew would let him settle although when cisse came on against Villa he never looked back.

yeah
would be great if douglas in place of saylor
i would play benny and marveaux out wide with tiote and bigi (gutti ) or( anita )on left as defensive midfield with cabaye behind cisse
tiote bigi (anita gutti )
benny marveaux
cabaye
cisse
but feel it would be very flexible to allow ba abeid obertan and raylor etc
to come on and fit into system

Comment #48@indian #4 you should get married then you would understand what being ignored is .You have to learn to get over it and persist with your craic and either A. someone will listen or B. you can leave and shut the door behind ya . Hopefully Curtis Good completes this week and makes the step up to the big time hope he settles quickly and gets used to the weather as it will be a touch different to life down here in Melbourne ,add him to Debuchy and Remy and we could be well set.

Comment #49I just have to stand up for JimmyMagpie here.
I too thought he was full of it at one point, but honestly, he really is right most of the time.
He doesn’t claim to be any kind of ITK, but is good friends with some of the physios, whom he talks to about nothing and everything.
He might come off a bit negative at times, and i’m still a little irritated by that, but being honest with myself, he’s very right on everything he puts on here.
We should be happy that he posts here, he gives us the cold hard facts as he sees and hears them. That we don’t like what he says, doesn’t mean it’s not right, me included.
Oppinions are oppinions, but if he says Good will sign tomorrow, then Good will 80% sign tomorrow.

Comment #50I can guarantee the Debuchy deal will be done shortly…most things are agreed it’s just very small bit and pieces in fee…but the overall fee is agreed.
Good will sign by next Friday.
Not heard anything from the club on Carroll but a friend at Liverpool has told me Rogers has been very impressed by carroll and thinks he has a future at the club. He was very impressed with how quickly he is adapting to his tactics.
Not heard anything on Remy or Anita though. Will keep you all posted if I do.

sick of explaining things to people who only read half the comments.
Transfers are not an exact science, lots of things to agree and people to keep happy.
If you want a simple transfer go play some football game, otherwise be patient.

Comment #61Why are we after Anita?
It makes sense if we sell Tiote for big money but otherwise its just a waste of money.
I’d like them to keep what we would spend on him for another day. The main reason for this is because we have some really good players and some young guns ready to step up to the plate.
I agree with bringing in Debuchy, he looked awesome in the Euro’s and he would push Simpson harder. Now I would love to keep Simpson, he was one of the top 3 right backs last year and is now another year older/wiser plus we need competition.
I want Pardiola to keep with the 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation. We play and control games so much more this way and the players seem happier in this system.
Teams for next year:
Krul
Debuchy-Taylor-Colo-Santon
Tiote-Guti
Ben Arfa-Cabaye-Ba
Cisse
Harper
Simpson-Willo-Colo-Santon
Tiote-Abeid
Obertan-Vukic-Marveux
Ba
Krull
Perch-Taylor-Willo-Drummet
Bigi-Guti
Amalfi-Ben Arfa-Sammy
Shola
As you can see we have a pretty good squad and I wouldn’t be too upset if we only signed Debuchy.
So, lets keep any excess money for purchases in January or Next Summer, when we’ll have even more money (which I hope the accounts will show from Feb).
Good Day!

Comment #62So the huge transfer revelation today is that targets who have been identified weeks ago and talked about at length on here might sign for us. But it’s not an exact science.
And your friend close go the Liverpool camp said rogers might keep carroll at Liverpool even though rogers himself has said exactly the same thing to Ssn.
I’m so jealous of your knowledge and hope one day to know as much as you do about transfers.

Comment #65The only thing I have been wrong about is the date Debuchy would sign.
As I have said before I only have a contact, not a direct phone to Mike Ashley.
I was told Debuchy was close to being done over a month ago and that on the following thursday an announcement would be made.
I mistakenly put 2 and2 together and it was wrong. Debuchy is practically done but the announcement that thursday was Carr signing a new deal.
Like I say, if you want to ignore me fine, it doesnt bother me.
But I said Debuchy will sign and he will, wait til the end of the window to judge that.
Good will be in by next Friday, see if thats right.
I said we were not in for De Jong after initial enquires and guess what…we weren’t and he joined Twente.
So go off your jounro’s that make stuff up if you like but for those who are interested I will continue to post when I hear something.

Also missed Gosling out.

We were in for De Jong, we just got priced out of a move- He left Twente and joined monchengladbach. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Yeah, you did say Debuchy was signing but anyone could say that, we’re the clear favourites. But you gave an exact day to when he would sign. It’s been known for a few weeks that good would sign and if he signs on Friday It wouldn’t make a difference as its been said he’ll sign throughout the week.

My contact is a PA in the club. I get so much info but they are not privy to the conversations, just take some calls before passing them on and assist with arranging travel and meetings.
So they do not hear exact details, just go off experience, knowing how many calls it usually takes for a transfer and what sort of things need organising, etc. They dont work on the football/training side so won’t hera much about trialists unless the club want to organise a press release regarding them.
Knowing those things are public knowledge but I have said Debuchy for a long time.
I was right with De Jong, said we had no interest in him and talks were about Douglas. I was right on that despite the rubbish in the press for weeks.

Comment #75good is being signed for the developement squad so cant see there being much press coverage regarding it. the french trialist was a french div 2 player and i think will b regarded as at the same level as good considering good himself was a trialist earlier in year maybe we’ll take the same route with him as good send him back but maintain an interest nd follow up later

red my comments earlier on de jong
I said after the initial bid we were not interested, that agrees with pardew.
We just had weeks of rubbish in the media saying we were interested even though after initial talk we withdrew, the reason for the trip there was douglas, which is far from being done also.
Dmac – hardly boring and mundane, surely replying to ‘all my crap’ shows just how dull your life is.
Can’t be bothered with the rubbish you get for sharing information, not spending all afternoon defending something, I can hardly as for my contact to send me some official documentation signed by ashley and llambias.
Will be back when I hear something new.
