Brendan Rodgers has given the following update on the availability of midfielder James Maddison for the Newcastle match this Sunday:
“We’ll see over the next couple of days. He’s obviously going to be a doubt. “He’s put some weight on his ankle so we’ll see over the coming days. He’s a big talent and he’s been playing great. We’ve got a really strong squad.
“We made some changes in the week, and the rhythm, speed and intensity in the team was the same.
“It’s just the risk of whether he’s going to last the game or not. It’s questionable whether he’ll play or not. He’s such a talented player, we’ll give him every chance.
“It just means we need to look at the creative side to our game. A player of that importance, of course, it’s always disappointing if he’s not available.
“Our success will be based around the team. If he’s not available, we’ll have someone to come in and it’s a great opportunity.”
So it’s up in the air at the moment whether Newcastle will have to face the talented 22-year-old. Maddison injured his ankle late in Leicester City’s victory against Tottenham last weekend. He was able to make it through the game but only because Rodgers had no more substitutions available.
Maddison was featured in some images of the team training yesterday. However, he was only spotted peddling on an exercise bike.
Someone say 'training pics'? ?
— Leicester City (@LCFC) September 26, 2019
If Maddison is unable to go on Sunday, we would imagine Dennis Praet, who signed this summer from Sampdoria, would get the nod. Praet had been linked to Newcastle for a few years before his move to Leicester.

Yer I’d say bang on with the tactics of blaming the fans for the poor performances and the imaginary buyer backing out
The PR don’t seem to realise the reason for the empty ground is exactly the kind of bollix they are blathering on about
Everyone’s sick of the lies and the rubbish on offer

Comment #8Rotonda, agreed on that. Any corporate buyer will be looking to increase the value of the club, they can only do that by maximising all the revenue streams and showing a good debt to turnover ratio.
Ashley has the club debts under control (except those to himself which should be wiped out if / when a takeover happens) and so any buyer could potentially afford to load some debt on the club to pay for upgraded facilities and show an increase in value that way, but they will also need to show increasing commercial revenue. If Ashley was to keep options on shirt and merchandise sales, corkage, advertising etc then they could never do that.
They’ll also need the fans onside and if we think they are using the club’s money to feather Ashley’s nest, I don’t think they’ll ever get that.

Comment #10I’m so happy to hear finally we have a takeover happening, this is fantastic news. It somewhat reminds me of the news we received last Sept/
Oct and the year before that and the year before that, it’s great to see that this is one statistic about Newcastle that is spot on every year we get some really great news.
Many thanks Mike Ashley, many thanks for trying to make us believe this is happening so Fans come back, I can’t wait for the next piece of news that fans need to start supporting the team so the takeover happens.
Mike your a diamond in the rough, now can you do one more thing for us deserving fans, drive down to Dover, hire one of those human sized canon ball machines, jump in and slide down to the bottom and then hit fire. Thanks Mike.

Comment #12Reilly – it was perfected by his propaganda minister, the technique is known as “The Big Lie” – basically asserting the most ridiculous and outrageous thing is truth long enough and loud enough will eventually persuade the majority to believe it. Marketing is a bit more subtle these days ha ha but the basic premise is the same 🙂

“…some bizarre VAR goal”
That scares me.
Are the machines taking over ?
Is VAR like the Triffids or that large silver coloured number 4 that I see before some TV programmes.Presumably that’s a central defender.
If VAR has developed goal scoring capabilities, what next ? will it learn to defend ? take free kicks ?
This is frightening and must be stopped.
Down the machines.

Newcastle United Commercial Revenue just doesn’t add up under Mike Ashley – As new ‘bid’ for NUFC is made

This is what hes doing to Rangers
(Information from The Guardian) The Glasgow Rangers deal with Sports Direct only made the club 7p for every shirt sold giving Rangers dividends of £559,000 over 4 years while £13m was spent in the club shop. SD got 3 times more dividends than the club.

As to your question about Kenyon etc leaving the advertising in place and would I be happy to get shot of Ashley. The trouble is with that scenario is that we wouldn’t be shot of Ashley, we’d just have a Vichy regime in place still being suffocated by Ashley.
