Pardew – We’ll Have One – Maybe Two Players In By Next Sunday

We are now almost into August now, and Newcastle still have to have a breakthrough in the transfer market,  to bring some top players in to fortify the squad for next season, when we’ll be back in Europe for the first time since we qualified back in 2006, under then manager Glenn Roeder.

Vurnon Anita – could arrive by next Sunday?

The good news so far this summer, is that Newcastle have brought in three excellent youngsters in Romain Amalfitano, Gael Bigirimana (what an excellent player this lad already is at just 18) and Curtis Good, who we expect to be a big surprise on the positive side when the 19 year-old Australian joins Newcastle later this week.

And it looks like Demba Ba will be staying, and certainly on Wednesday morning we’ll be very happy, make that very very happy,  if  Demba is still around, and he’ll come out of this looking golden, because he’s said all along that he loves life at Newcastle, and certainly the Geordie fans love him too.

The good news today is that Alan Pardew has been updated by Derek Llambias on the current transfer situation  at Newcastle,  and Alan had this to say to the Sunday Sun from Portugal:

“I think the situation is that by the end of the week – by next Sunday – I think we will have another player in. I’m hoping we will have two players in.”

“And I don’t want to see anybody go out and I don’t think I will. That’s my genuine feeling.”

Newcastle winning the 12th Annual Guadiana Trophy last night will be a big morale booster for the whole squad, and two more players in by next Sunday would be great.

The Sunday Sun is reporting that Newcastle are very close to getting France right-back Mathieu Debuchy through the door (we’ve heard that before this summer – many times), and his transfer is the one most likely to be completed by next Sunday.

And the second player they are working hard on is Ajax midfielder/full-back Vurnon Anita, who would be an excellent acquisition by Newcastle, and the 23 year-old is very keen to come to Newcastle, and he’s told that to anybody who will listen.

And the Sunday Sun is confirming what was in the local papers a few days ago – that Debuchy, Anita and big Andy Carroll are the three players they are trying to get to the club right now – so at least that’s consistent – so it could even be true. 😀

And don’t believe the stories that Andy will only come to Newcastle if Demba Ba leaves by next Wednesday, that’s simply not true,  and the Geordie lad will provide another option up front for Alan Pardew next season.

And the latest news on Curtis Good is that he will arrive at Newcastle this week, and have his medical and all being well will sign along the dotted line.

We have to hope that all this news is true – we need some new players through the door soon.

What do you think?

    No mention of Remy …

Love to see Carroll in b&w score 20+ with a hatrick at Anfield. 😉

Again will believe it when they are holding the shirt. Pards has said this countless times already! Why is it taking so long to sign Good? The lad was on trial with us, im confused why thats dragging on for weeks.

If Remy Loic and Andy Carroll are available for similar money, I believe Loic would be the better signing for us to make.

Signing Anita, to play alongside Mr T, would release Cabaye to play at the base of a “Diamond” which I think would give him even more scope to excel in the middle of the park.

Gives Pardeau lots of permutations when he needs to change things round a bit!!

im in the camp that thinks anita isnt needed nd may just stifle youngsters growth.
saying that any signing would be good just wanna see the club make a statement of intent.

    @Indian – Prat

I think Debuchy and a striker will be it, i think Abeid and Bigi’s performances will turn heads and decide to spend the money elsewhere rather than midfield.

@ Graeme. I was just sitting thinking of how we could play all three of cabaye, anita and tiote, and that sounds like the way forward, something like:

    Krul
    Debuchy(?) Saylor colo santon

    anita tiote

    ben arfa cabaye ba

    cisse

In reference to Erik Pieters, he has stated on twitter that he is wearing a protective boot for the next 2-3 weeks and then on to sneakers. He also states that his next appointment with a consultant is not until the 27th August. Taking into account this info, i would say that he is unlikely to sign in this transfer window.

“I think the situation is that by the end of the week – by next Sunday – I think we will have another player in. I’m hoping we will have two players in.”

I was hoping for three or four. Debuchy and Anita would be very good signings, hopefully we can get them both for £11-12M. I’m a bit worried about the lack of progress in the striker department. I’ve heard that Remy would cost more like £15M and I doubt we’ll get him for much less, so that one may be off. With de Jong already getting away it seems that AC is the only remaining option and I don’t see him leaving Liverpool, not after what they spent on him and the wages he’s on. Unless we have another target who we’ve kept very quiet – which is possible – I’m doubting that we’ll have a new striker. Keeping Ba will help soften the blow, but I strongly feel we need another man up front.

It sound s like our new young signings will be expected to play a part this season as we simply don’t have the depth to keep them in the reserve squad indefinitely. That could turn out to be a very good thing but they’ll have to make the grade very quickly, which is a big ask. Still, as the saying goes, in Carr we trust.

I was hoping that we’d get a few decent youngsters in – which we have – and also make 4-5 ‘first team’ signings (CB, RB, CM, RW, CF) which doesn’t look like happening. There’s still a chance that Pardew is being tactful and holding back on a few things, but I’d be surprised. We’ll have an improved squad, but if we get a serious injury to either Ba, Cisse, Colo or Saylor then once again I fear we will pay the price.

Come on Pards and co, surprise me!

i think bigi is almost ready …he played in the championship 26 times last season! he just needs some training and also learn better decision making which will come only with experience …i think he will be a starter in cup games…and if he does well maybe the prem too

I am going to do a Ketsbaia9 and relentlessly recommend three first team players we should sign:
    1. Willy Boly
    2. Jeremain Lens
    3. Mathieu Debuchy

    That is all!

I think AP comment of one by sunday will be a Centre Back, he has already stated he wants one in and the Australian lad is one for the future.

I know he is saying the right things to Ba to keep him but i can see us playing one up top, with a midfield of Cabaye, Tiote, Marveaux, guti and take your pic for the other slot.

I know that i’m in the minority, but Colo is cr-p when the ball is in the air across our box, and not for the first time, once more commits the cardinal sin for any defender, and turns his back on an opponent about to shoot. he’s what we used to call ‘a fan-y merchant’, and will never put his body on the line like Saylor. We desperately need a big, strong, physical centre-back, to cover for Tayls, so hopefully this lad Good will step up to the plate. I was told last night that he should sign after the completion of his medical on Monday, and that things are close with Debuchy, but there has still been no agreement with Lille as at midnight last night. I should say that i am posting this from mr brother’s place on the beautiful Algarve having a nice holiday, and taking in the match last night, before having supper with my medic friends from the club. I’m also told that IF the club persue their interest in Anita, it will be as a left back, because doubts persist about Santon’s defensive qualities, and they are toying with the idea of trying him wide right, which the player would like. Also, all talk of trying to sign Loic Remy is total bol-ocks!

The 2 players that Pardew was taling about were Good and Debuchy. Carroll will NOT come back to Ncle, but another striker is being looked for. Anita will only come, if Simpson moves on. If nobody leaves, that will be it!

Ryan2502- what u think bout same team but th 4-2-2-2 formation? Santon n debuchy bombing forward from the back to provide width and u know Ben arfa will always create space. Plus pards said Ba will b playin a more central role this season.

Been reading this blog for long time n not really said much but it’s starting to do my head in with transfers n potential players we are after. We don’t need Anita, bigi is just fine. Debuchy! Well, I’ve heard it for weeks n it’s got to the point, can’t be arsed to read or see any more post about him! (would love to have him tho).. Lioc remy won’t come. Carroll won’t come. (don’t even want him now as he has all ready broke my heart!)
