This Striker Looks Much Better Value Than Andy Carroll

The striker we’d like Newcastle to at least go after,  as the fourth striker for Newcastle next season is 20 year-old Swedish striker John Guidetti, and news yesterday that Rome club Lazio had made a £7M offer for the young Swedish striker.

John Guidetti – decent value at £7M?

With Newcastle’s current strikers all 26 or older, Newcastle could go with a younger striker this summer, and John looks to be a top striker in the making, and last season scored 20 goals in just 23 appearances for Feyenoord while out on loan.

The Stockholm born player wants first team action next season and he’s very unlikely to get much of that at Manchester City, where Mancini is going on about wanting City to buy four more top class players so they have some chance of winning the Champions League next season.

Where does Roberto think all the money is coming from at City, after the club lost £197M in the last financial year – the Italian should at least try to understand how clubs are run these days – and they are run as companies – as businesses, and they will all be forced to balance the books over the next couple of seasons.

£7M seems a reasonable price for Guidetti, and why wouldn’t Newcastle offer to take him on loan with a permanent deal next May – with the transfer price agreed up front, as they are trying to do with Andy Carroll.

John would cost about half of what it will cost to bring Andy back home, and he’s over thee years younger and probably has more potential than big Andy.

Whether Roberto likes it or not, Manchester City must first start getting their wage bill down, and make some attempt at starting to balance their books, and that could mean selling some of their players this summer.

John wouldn’t start many games at Newcastle, if Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse remain fit all season, although he could start the games in Europe and would get ample playing time, and don’t forget that Alan Pardew knows all about how to coach young strikers into becoming top players.

Somehow we’d be very surprised if Newcastle didn’t show some interest in this young striker.

What do you think?

Ed, 4th ST? Give me a break. This kid would challenge for a starting spot. He is that good! I would be happy if he was the lone attacker we brought in. Give us more money to add quality depth with Debuchy, Douglas, and Sissoko or Anita.

Highly doubt Man City will let him go. Furthermore to a rival club like us!

Could be a great choice for our style as a lot of his goals last season came from drifting in from the left. If Ba won’t play there then maybe this lad will. Very good record last term but I’m not sure the standard is up the with the EPL.

Since we finished 5th & started establishing ourselves again as a major force in English football.

Hopefully. That would be a super transfer window!

It’s not a question of whether City want to keep him or not. They probably would considering he’s a top young talent but as he’s stated many times before, he wants to be able to get first-team football. Fair play to the kid, I wouldn’t mind seeing him here for £7M. Whether he’d be pleased playing as third or fourth choice here is another question… Lazio have got a very good player on their hands if this rumoured bid is accepted though.

We’re in the same league. Between Roma and us, it makes more sense to sell a damn good striker to a team that won’t threaten to shave points off them when they’re trying to win the league. Meaning sell abroad!

Makes more sense to City of course. I’d love to have him but I can’t see it happening.

Good player but I think he will cost more than 7m. Sadly he wants to move to Italy so he would probably choose Lazio over Newcastle anyway..

Andy Caroll is much better and has a proven good record for us in the prem. But I’m so tired of all the speculation that I don’t care who the club decides to sign as long as they’re happy I’m happy.

This lad is a fantastic striker, and wants to leave as he is after a starting spot. He would probably bee third choice if he came to us. I have no doubt he would command a starting spot a few months down the line, but I reckon he won’t accept that.

From what I’ve seen from this guy, he’s got plenty of raw talent and could make a legit challenge for a starting spot.

In the mean time while he gets some games under his belt, he’d be a definite super-sub. Very pacey, high work rate and can poach a goal or two.

He went to Man C, when Sven-Göran was the manager and wasn’t Graham Carr a scout at the club back then, so I guess Carr knows everything about him. I hope we sign him up, he is a star for the future and whould have made the Swedish euro sqaud if it wasn’t because of injury.

I think he would be a great young signing. The only problem is his fee. If shitty will take £8 million for him, we will offer £4 or £5 Million tops to prove we get a good deal!!

Good call, although who knows ? Him or Remy. Either would be decent signings and may play off Cisse or Ba well.

I’d far rather have guidetti than Carroll. I won’t be upset if we sign Carroll but I feel guidetti is fat better value for money. Mind you I won’t be saying that if Carroll starts banging in the goals again.

Ed, Youa re SPOT ON with this article. Just yesterday, I had commented that instead of wasting millions on the likes of Remy and Carroll ( No doubt they are good ) why not get this guy ? Young > YES> He is just 21. Quality ? U bet

Wants to move ? Hell yeah as he is frustrated at City.

Price ? 7 millions.. If I was Mike.. I wud have bot him already. No kidding. That bloke is a class act. Planning for future. Wud warm the bench and deliver as well when required in leagues and when the dembas go off for ACON.

Definitely… Don’t see it happening but would be delighted. Still harbouring hopes of bringing Remy in, but would be equally happy with Guidetti. Really want the Carroll talk to end, too many reasons to walk away and I only feel that sentimentality is keeping us involved.
