Last Few Hours In Demba Ba Saga – And Still At Newcastle

We suppose ever since Harry Redknapp in his wisdom, told the world that Demba Ba had a release clause in his contract for £7M, and it became known that the release clause became inactive once August 1st rolled round, there would be stories of all different  clubs trying to sign the Senegal striker.

Demba Ba – looks great in the new Newcastle strip

And that’s exactly what has happened, as Ba has been linked with Galatasaray, Fenerbehce, West Ham, Rubin Kazan and other clubs this summer, but the only constant seems to be that all the reports have been false (what’s new?).

To his credit the big striker, when he has made statements about the situation, has always been positive about staying at Newcastle, and he has said consistently that he wants to stay on Tyneside, and that he likes the City and he loves the Newcastle fans.

We expect there to be no late moves for the striker today – we hope there will be no late moves for the striker today.

And with Newcastle still to sign a senior player this transfer window (so far), it will be good news, indeed great news when Demba Ba is still a Newcastle player tomorrow.

With so little time left before the release clause becomes inactive,  there seems no way that Demba Ba will not be a Newcastle player after midnight tonight.

That’s true isn’t it? 😀

Hope BA will stay but to be rotated with cisse as a lone striker

With the links to vdw Douglas and pieters again maybe we just want the Dutch defence plus colo. From what I remember the Dutch defence wasn’t so good?

    Posts galore today.

On the previous one, Debuchy or Van Der Wiel, don’t mind which one, just get one signed! Debuchy is better defensively, Van Der Wiel is quicker, both are good upgrade on Simpson.

If you were going to bid on Ba you’d want to check his knee out properly.

These scans take time, so it looks unlikely he’ll go.

@There are plenty of interesting stories in today’s newspapers, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Juventus will this week launch a staggering £70million bid to lure Arsenal striker Robin van Persie to Italy.

    —————–

I thought barely a month ago Juventus offered like 7 million pounds and now they have up the bid to 70 million pounds???

Debuchery i was just thinking that, wonder what VDW would cost, 5mill maybe?

Anita is valued at 7mill, so both for 12mill would be good business, if it happened.

Alderwiereld has said he’s staying put, maybe a cheeky bid for Heitinga would be worth a look as he plays CB/RB/DM

The £70m quoted for RvP is including his wages over the 4 year contract.

If he’s worth £70m then Cisse is worth £10000000 million!!!!

I’m not sure i want Douglas, obviously only basing this on what i’ve read but he sounds like the type of player who’d sign and either upset the team spirit or use us for a 2 season stay and jump ship.

But if he signs, then yes he’s going to want to stay in Holland to get citizenship so he can play for brazil or holland.

help. iam probably being a bit thick ere!! if a another team triggers his release clause, does that mean that he automaticaly has to go to that team? I thought the player had to agree to the move as well?

Would much prefer debuchy to van der wiel! He is better going forwards, not as quick but has a better football brain! Van der wiel plays some horror passes, also takes risks! Looks good in the Dutch league but gets found out in Europe and for the National team! Also debuchy may link with HBA on the right side better and in the city better with such a close friend near by!

I strongly believe Ba does have a release clause in the region of 7M. But come on do we really believe it runs out on August 1st!? No. For what reason would that be, it will run out on the last day of this window or will be active through his entire contract.

100% Ba isn’t going anywhere now.

If anybody was going to buy him they would have tried when he was up for £7million not when he’s only available for £20million+.

    Common sense surely?

Plus this Douglas seems like a complete duche. Why are we even bothering with him?

think we should be glad of Douglas temprement! He’s been the best defender in Holland for 2 years now, will be a nailed on starter for Holland when he qualifies, that temprement is probably the reason teams like Milan, Man City etc aren’t in for him! Anyone that’s seen him much will concurr, he’s a monster at the back! Would love him at toon!

Jay is right, players can turn down a move no matter what fee is offered.

Can’t blame players for staying and getting the wages they are entitled to though. Clubs fault for offering silly money.

Shane. – Ba might well have a release clause which runs out today, it’s all speculation though. Could have been the balance between what he wanted an what the club wanted. Met in the middle

@shane – club will hv agreed to release clause aslong as it went to august 1st! If it went till 31st he cd leave on deadline day and the club would have no say leaving us screwed for strikers! Club and player both have to agree to conditions of a release clause in contracts!

Maybe the date was instilled there by NUFC because of then recent bitter experience oif not having time to replace Carroll.

is douglas that good? never seen him so have no idea, just presume he must be alright if they club are actually after him. Is he as slow as people seem to make out?

    @geordiedan

agree on that. If Ba was available for 7 million surely teams would have bid for him early in the window to make sure other clubs didn’t match that bid and get him first.

Am I still unable to buy tickets for an away match unless I’m a season ticket holder? Would love to get to the Reading game on 29th September, and also trying to enlighten my girlfriend by taking her along too!

Anyone know the options I have to buy tickets, other than having to sit in the Reading end?

not 100% sure, not been to an away game, think they go to season ticket holders and members as priority.

just ring the ticket office and see what they say

I’m pretty sure that the Andy Carroll rumours will stop once Ba commits. I think we were just covering our backs with the interest in him, De Jong and Reimy. I can’t see what we would do with THREE centre forwards.

I hope we keep hold of our entire squad including Simpson! What we achieved with this group last season was no fluke it was an outstanding achievement. If we could bring in 3 players of any of the crop that have been mention in previous weeks (not Carroll) then we will have a brilliant squad. 🙂 a CB is a must!!

I do believe Ba has a contract clause that end tomorrow. That way the club would have a month to find a suitable replacement if he does eventually leave due to the clause. It’s common sense lads.

I hope we sign Douglas, he is a monster and would unsettle any striker with his size, strength and temperament.

Rich – I travel to holland quite a lot with work etc and can assure you, Douglas is getting a hard time from some bloggers.

He is a very very good centre half, not as slow as everybody makes out and has been BY FAR the best centre half in holland for the past 2 seasons. Him and colo would be ridiculous!! And let’s say our £4m gets accepted…that is a total steal!!!
