Here are some more photos taken on Saturday evening in Portugal, by one of our readers, Rolf de Bruin, after Newcastle had beaten Braga 2-1 and won the Trofeu Internacional Futebol do Guadiana – more simply known as the Guadiana Trophy.
Newcastle captain Coloccini lifts the Guadiana Trophy on Saturday night
Newcastle have now won three minor trophies in the last three years – the Coca Cola Championship in 2010, the Teresa Herrera trophy, when we beat Deportivo in Spain in 2010, and on Saturday evening, when we won the Guadiana Trophy.
We hope these are shades of better things to come for Newcastle – in the near future.
Coloccini being presented with the Guadiana Trophy.
The lads mingling after the game – did we actually win something?
Jonas Gutierrez finally got that shirt off – show off!
Braga being congratulated – for losing to Newcastle
Thanks again to Rolf for those photos.
We are reminded of the words of Ebeneezer Scrooge in a Christmas Carol (not Andy Carroll), by the great Charles Dickens, when Scrooge asks the third ghost:
“You are about to show me shadows of the things that have not happened, but will happen in the time before us?” “Is that so, Spirit.”
We just hope seeing Fabricio Coloccini lifting that trophy on Saturday night, are shadows of things that will happen in the time before us for the great Newcastle United Football Club – how about the FA Cup or League Cup next year?
We hope so – we really hope so.
