Interesting Developments In Andy Carroll Saga

Some interesting news being reported today, that Andy Carroll has been left out of the Liverpool squad that traveled to Belarus for a Europa League preliminary tie earlier this morning.

Andy Carroll – Liverpool withdraw him for Europa League squad

In fact he was initially in the squad and then the England striker was withdrawn from the squad, so perhaps that means that something is percolating in his desired move to Newcastle.

Newcastle would not want him cup-tied, but even if he played in the qualifiers he would still be able to play for Newcastle in the group stages of the tournament, assuming Newcastle make it to the group stages, and we have a two legged qualifying tie later this month.

The 6’3″ striker had originally been named in the squad for the game against FC Gomel, in the third qualifying round tie, but it seems strange that he was withdrawn, and why would that be the case?

The Liverpool squad flew out of John Lennon airport earlier today without their striker, so it’s hardly surprising that there is now increased speculation about why Liverpool did that.

Some reports suggest that Andy Carroll has picked up a groin injury, but that could also be a smoke-screen for the real reason why he was withdrawn – the plot thickens. 😀

Andy Carroll seems adamant that he will only move to Newcastle, and he has already let West Ham know he’s not interested in a move to Upton Park, even though West Ham offered silly money to Liverpool for him.

The ball is in Newcastle’s court to increase their bid for the Gateshead striker  – but  the ball is in Newcastle’s court on about five potential moves, to increase their bid.

Andy should not feel alone in that respect.

Could be as simple as he’s washing his hair 🙂

West Ham have increased their bid / wages (supposedly), so maybe it has more to do with that.

Either way, I’m sure all toon fans will be delighted for another possible twist in the AC saga 🙂

i really dont want him back… i dont understand the reports that MA has got personally involved either… there are better players that are cheaper both in fee and wages.

why would MA go against his whole transfer policy to get AC back?

tads….Well, if that’s true, it would be really hard to turn down. Although, I would still not be happy at having to look at bloody Sam Allardyce on a day to day basis…even for that money.

so if we have 15 million to spend on a striker is it best spent on Andy Carroll? definitely not IMO. Remy would be much better value for money and would give us an extra dimension in attack.See Fulham’s initial offer for Jordan Rhodes has been rejected he’s unproven but a much better player than Beckford looked when Everton took a gamble.

You could call the movie “Bar Wars – the bird beater returns”

The options for his movie career would seem to be far greater than playing for Brendon of the Bindippers!!! I still dont think he will be gracing the watering holes of the Bigg Market anytime soon as a toon player though!!

What a waist of time .. if Andy wasn’t from Newcastle he would never have been mentioned.. waist of money. Hopes he stays at Liverpool its best for him. He will be 1st choice in his prime not any time soon

Eastend…He is the chosen one and will bring balance to the force!

Ashley maybe thinks he can buy him back and offload him again in a few years for another payday. People thinking he’s completely written off are wrong. Don’t tell me if he got some playing time at a club he was happy at started performing well he wouldn’t be worth some decent money in the future. Not £35m, I mean, who would pay that? 🙂

Toon Army no way he’s worth that like but I think he’s got alot more potential than Whickham. Silly prices for british players like considering what we paid for cisse!
loved Andy Carroll while he was here but we priced ourselves out of the Carroll market when we sold him!!

So if Rhodes is valued around £8-10m, can we not say Carroll is about right between £10-15m?

He has PL experience. He has played for the England National team. 18 months ago, he was one of the most promising young English CF’s in the league (hence the £35m we got for him). I know there are possibly “better” options out there, but imo people are too quick to say he’s useless and too expensive.

Ibiza no i think thats why no1s bid for rhodes or any english players and why we mainly look abroad, my concern with carroll is why would we undo all the work of making the club self sufficent just to get carroll back the whole rumour doesnt make sense i mean this is a club that refused to up our bid by 3 mil for cisse and gambled and waited til jan to get him it just doesnt add up

We can do without another striker until January, so why the hell do we need to increase our offer for Carroll?

If he really wants to come to us he will hold out until our bid is accepted or he will go to WHU for the money.

Either way Ashley is right to play hardball, as long as we have other irons in the fire.

The same goes for Debuchy and Anita.

    PPB…Good work.

Hatem…You seem to have the wrong idea about us OVians. I personally wouldn’t mind Andy back at all. I also back Pardew completely and think he’s done a wonderful job since arriving.

However, feel free to continue with your misguided opinion that those who adopted the OV namesake, are just egotistical sad acts trying to hound people off the blog and miss the point completely that we were actually behind the clubs progress and were merely fed up with all of the negative cr*p people were spouting day in day out last season.

I asked you a simple enough question, but you feel the need to take it like a tw@, which just leads me to think that perhaps you are indeed just a tw@.

Although, i will add, I do like your user name. Which leaves me in a difficult place. Perhaps you’re a part time tw@?

Tads…I’m in no way saying I think it’s likely or not, just that in today’s market (which I agree is nuts – no, not £2m peanuts, just plain crazy) £10-£15m for a young English Striker isn’t “too” bad and that I think Andy can still make it. Whether that’s with Newcastle or not, we shall see.

I do agree, that it would be odd, to say the least, for Ashley to splash that sort of money on the guy.

Hattem nothing to do with fifa, more with our open policy of buying young players with sell on value MA doesnt exactly seem like the type of bloke to buy a player based on sentimental value, also if hes dealing directly it suggests hes bypassing pards carr etc, which for me isnt the part that adds up were not chelsea and the manager should be the one selecting his team

I don’t get the negativity around AC coming back, i think it would be amazing. He made a mistake leaving, it sounds like he wants to come back, he’s definitely still got a huge potential and he’s a Geordie. It’s a lot of money but in the long run i can’t see it been a poor investment. It means wit the money we got for him first time round, we’ve signed Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Carroll. That looks like a good bit of business to me. Remy couldn’t get in the french first team and hasn’t got that greater record. Carroll any day!
