An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated
Ed Harrison

Comment #2Went to tOnights game being from Hartlepool. Shola before his injury was outstanding, brilliant hold up play and vision. A great game from Amalfitano, Gosling and Marvoiux. Ben Arfa had a very quiet game and seemed to easily loose possession but overall a fantastic performance with a great Newcastle following. Oh and by the way, first post after following the blog for 3 years. Keep up the good work Ed and great to hear your on the mend.

Comment #3On topic, never seen or listened to the game so can’t comment.
From my previous (previous) thread, apart from the obvious disadvantage of players taking time to bed in,I suppose in a way it might make sense to see whether we are competing in Europe if we aren’t I think it would be wise to buy a LB rather than a RB but if we are (in Europe)then a move for Anita and Debuchy could be on the cards, really don’t know what to expect though.

Kadar hopefully will be a starter for Roda, plus have a pal in Nemeth there. He really needs games, could have liked a one year loan later in hes carrier, so he could have developed better. Maybe England isnt the best place for him, too much injuries too.
Any video for this friendly, or something? Couldnt even find a link for the match.

Comment #12Great result. Good to read most of the team gave a good showing of themselves. Great to get a big win, always good for morale. Hope Shola’s injury ins’t too severe, but perhaps just bad enough to get us a decent striker in sharpish, with Shola returning shortly after 😉
We obviously didn’t see the game, but it’s clear who our best player was. Scharner.
Good night one and all, hasta luego x

Comment #18I attended the game tonight, Bigiriman absolutely outstanding picked passes allover the box! Then Gosling was quality too, gotta say Bigi has got a massive chance of starting this season.
Shola played awesome (dare I say it) won every header. Obertans goal was quality! Vuckic’s goal was nicely taken. Marveaux was really good. When Shola got injured we played a 5 man midfield with Vuckic up top, very entertaining match 😀

Comment #20of all the matches not to have a stream :-/ good to see the lads had a good performance there, especially glad for Vuckic and Obertan. Its nice to see Pardew give Vuckic the playing time he needs to regain his form.

I have been one of Goslings biggest critics since he’s been given a few chances I would like nothing better than to be proved wrong about the lad.

AP has either second thoughts on Robbie, needs to put Alnwick in the loan window, Alnwick is a better GK, Robbie was injured, fielded Alnwick to have a look incase we should have 2 GKs injured at some point.
The latter is not unlikely considering Harpers knee popping in and out.

Comment #28Good to see vuckic getting on the score sheet and playing well, gosling and Obertan seem up for the challenge of proving their critics wrong. Shola injury though just enforces the matter that we need another striker. Will ranger or xisco get another chance?

The most official source u can find is the nufc official home page, which states it as 4-2-3-1.

Was 4-1-3-1, bigi defensive midfield, shola on top with amalfitano, gosling and marv in the middle.
JFA,
Gosling looks a class player same as last season, every time ball was delivered into box he was there ran a mock. Europe for him no doubt, yes was on Hartlepool but I feel the way we played.. We’re ready to attack Spurs!

We beat a lower team with our reserve side. Yes it was a good result with good performances but we should’ve won by that margin.
There is a long way to go before we are ready for Spurs and a few players light of where we need to be!

Comment #35I am really syked about Gosling this season. Thought he had a great pre-season last year as well, but injurie and great form from others made it difficult for him.
Plus I think he has confidence issues. Really hope he comes good this season 🙂 the same goes for Vuckici
Any news on Ameobi? We really need him staying fit this season 🙂

Like I said it was Hartlepool, but the way the game went you’d look at the players and think yeah some of these are ready.. Meaning Bigi, Gosling, Obertan and Vuckic, these will all pile pressure on the first team. Really want to see Bigi and Tiote playing alongside together mind.

Comment #39Good post Beattie. People need to stand back from this a bit and look at how slow we are to invest, when we definitely have money to spend. Three players can make us a top 5 team and maybe better. Are we willing to take the plunge, or must we put value before all else??
